We bought three bottles total. The lady helping us with the tastings was super awesome and friendly. There was one guy singing country music solo who I really liked. He did a great job (wish I remembered his name!). The view was pretty good too, and we ended up sitting there for probably an hour or two, drank a whole bottle, and took two more to go. Overall everything was good and we had a fantastic afternoon! The only weird part was when another lady came up behind the one helping us and said "no more tasting" right in the middle of it. We'd only tasted three wines (sharing the samples), and we ended up buying bottles of those -- but my wife wanted to try something bold/rich red too. The interruption stopped us short, so she wasn't happy about it and it kind of threw Lili off. Honestly though, it didn't ruin our day at all, the bottle a we bought were good. Still highly recommend - great spot, great wines, and we'll definitely go back when we're in the area as my wife loves winerys!

Chiswell was our first stop after a 3.5 hour drive to VA wine country. We've been to the area many…read moretimes in the past, but this was our first time visiting Chiswell. Upon entering the charming house we were greeted immediately by the tasting room manager, Kephanie. She introduced their 13 wines and gave us our tasting options. While she got our drinks poured she invited us to tour the house and the grounds and let us know that we could sit anywhere we liked. There were quite a few rooms and as the only people there at the time, it felt like we had free range of the entire house! With all the character, antique furniture, and Knick Knacks, it felt like we had stepped back in time. There was also ample space outside on the Adirondack chairs and the views were spectacular, but since it was unbearably hot and we needed a table for all of our snacks (they sell a variety of snacks in the tasting room, but we brought our own), we chose to sit inside the tasting room. Kephanie offered to put a couple of tables together in the tasting room for us and she helped us get comfortable and situated with our snacks and tasting. She truly made us feel like we were right at home and her lively personality was palpable! Every wine we tasted was delicious and we especially loved the bubbles! The wine was excellent, and the service made the experience one of the best we had during our trip.

The grounds were gorgeous, and I could see myself spending a lot of time hearing nestled under the trees. The first thing we noticed is that instead of tasting at a long bar, we were invited to choose a table and be served by a member of staff. And, instead of a set tasting list, you can pick and choose what you want among the offerings to build your own (see photo). The Viognier was a stand out, very creamy and soft. I also enjoyed the red blends, especially the Springhouse Red. We will be back!

We go for the wine and the views. Stinson offers both of these and so much more. With service and owners who are attentive, personable, and very, very funny, Stinson is the perfect place to relax on a Sunday afternoon. To my knowledge, they are the only Winery on the Monticello Wine Trail to have a kid's play area-- courtesy of Wild Rock. With great wine and a charming, picturesque view of the mountains, this small, yet popular winery is well worth a visit.

They make decent wine in a beautiful tasting room, overlooking picturesque grounds. We learned today that a new winemaker started during the pandemic; he employs a "spontaneous fermentation" process that is more natural and uses fewer sulfites. As someone who sometimes experiences headaches from sulfites, I appreciate this. We chose the red flight (see photo). They also offer a white flight, five wines for $16. The Petit Verdot (part of the tasting) and Cab Franc (extra taste) were standouts. The hubs also really liked the Beril, a blend of mostly Tannat. It's a worthwhile stop on your wine tasting adventure.

We were not sure how many people we would have, but Crozet Trolley has space for much more than the 14 guests that most of the wine tours in the area can accommodate. They were flexible with our schedule, transported us efficiently to our destinations, and helped to make the afternoon fun. I would highly recommend Crozet Trolley for visiting wineries in the Crozet area.
