The staff here are super friendly and are ready to answer any questions you might have. They also have an excellent selection of games from systems that are both old and modern. They also have an excellent selection of LEGO. They have NES, SNES, Genesis, all kinds of systems set up and ready to play and take you back to your childhood. They sell used stuff for really good prices and are very friendly, even to nine year olds who stand around asking fairly dumb questions. One night I was trolling craigslist for old video games and I found this post that had a big list of all the systems they had for sale... just come down to their store in Tempe. Well, turns out, the place is only a mile away from me so the next day I drove on down to Southern and McKlintock in Tempe and found a store called Fallout Games... right behind Long John Silvers as their ad promised. I walked into the store and after about a minute I realized I had found something really special. This place has a huge selection of games for all sorts of systems and lots of cool touches around the store, like vintage N64 and Dreamcast store displays. They also have this homemade kiosk with three 20 inch LCD monitors hooked up to Genesis and NES systems. Very cool to know there is a store a mile away that has Bubble Bobble cued up at all times. I'm guessing the main guy behind the store does 9am - 5pm type hours because when I go after I get off work it's always his very helpful wife running the place. I first visited Fallout Games a week ago and after my third visit tonight(yep, I like it that much) there still hasn't been any change in the stock they have on the floor. I noticed there are lots of games and systems on the floor behind the counters so hopefully I will see new items soon. I was told they have over 500 games for the Atari 2600 but there is only about 15-20 on the shelves for sale at the moment. I have seen reviews on other sites complain about the pricing system here. 90% of what is on the floor has a price... but if you ask for something on the shelves behind the counters you will have to wait for the store employee to look it up on ebay and give you a price. This is annoying, but overall, their prices are pretty fair. You probably won't get a great deal on anything here because of this system but you will usually always get a fair deal. Anyway, it's an awesome store that I hope is around for a long time. Apparently, they have another location and it's right by my work so I'll be checking that one out very soon, as well. Fallout Games also sells used games for the current generation of video game systems, which is usually what other customers are looking at when I am browsing. So, in conclusion... Great place to buy used games!! I've purchased a Gameboy, some Pokémon games for my Gameboy, and recently purchased a Nintendo 64 here. The 64 seemed to have problems the next day so I brought it back and they did a full test on it and came to the conclusion that the cartridges I had purchased (I bought them somewhere else) needed clean, so they actually cleaned them and confirmed my system was running good! I have been in a couple of times looking for nintendo 64 games for my brother. I don't know of any other place where you can buy N64 games and controllers at such great prices. Way safer than buying online! Every time I go, the staff is super friendly and helpful in helping me pick out games. The prices are great! You can test games out before you buy them too. This place is a real love/hate relationship. I used to love going for their older console selection, but my last few experiences have been nothing but frustrating. I went in to trade in some games (first time by the way), immediately after entering the store I greet the guy behind the counter. Without a single look at me, the kid behind the counter points to the left of him and shouts "OVER THERE". At this point I knew I was in for a fun time. I just about walked out right then and there but I was willing to try. After some very awkward small talk about this boy's day, he informs me he'd give me $55 dollars for about 20+ games. I kindly declined his offer to which he was extremely surprised. He then explained that we're getting a better deal than Gamestop would offer. Even though they were better priced than Gamestop's it was more of the attitude that turned me off completely. If you've got to spend your money here, call ahead and make sure they have your product. Don't even bother with expecting good customer service. Just walk in, pay, walk out. And make sure a chubby kid isn't working that day. I love their selection and I came in Friday to buy a Sega Dreamcast and was helped by Jordan and the customer service was great. While his manager on duty was helping my wife we bought a dream cast 4 games and a WiiU game. Store was clean, video displays was up and they had low prices I will definitely be back when I get some more cash great work guys. read more

When I got $100 in cash for my birthday I knew exactly what I wanted to spend it on. I went straight to fallout games and tried to spend as close to $100 as I could, I ended up $8.50 over. I gave them $100 in cash and asked to have the rest charged to my debit card. They charged the full $108 to the debit card and took my cash. This place beats Gamestop in every single way when it comes to Xbox 360 games. They have a huge selection and the prices are reasonable. If a game is cheaper at Gamestop or Games Depot they said they would beat the price. They have a buffing system in the store that takes them seconds to use. It removes scratches instantly. If you have scratched up games at home you can bring them in and they will buff them for 2 to 3 dollars depending on how scratched they are. They can buff 2 games at a time. If a game you want to buy in the store is scratched they will buff it for free. If you're into Legos then this place is definitely for you. They have a whole bunch of pieces and let you fill up a pretty big bag with whatever you want in it for $20. I ended up getting 4 games for just a little over $20. I will be coming back here. This store could be all right, but their customer service is unfortunately pretty bad. The people working at the store treat you like they don't want you there. My kids and I asked a simple question about their return policy and the gentleman there looked at us like we're stupid, and then proceeded to give a smartass answer full of attitude. I was at a loss of words. I figured he misunderstood my question or mistook for someone else or SOMETHING, because it didn't make any sense for him to give us attitude, so I tried to confirm what he had just said about the purchase policy, and he just looked at me like saying 'go away'. So we did. I guess if you're an experienced gamer and you know everything there's to know about the sale/resale of video games they might be all right with you. But if you're a parent with a couple of young kids looking for some used games or consoles, they're not interested in your business. read more

First off I'd like to say that the staff is very friendly, and knowledgeable. This place has a great selection of PS2/360/PS3 games. Everything else is picked over, and unalphabetized. If you want to buy a used version of a PS2, PS3, or 360 game this is the place for you. If you want to get something older than that, then expect to visit the shop daily, in order to snatch up your prize before another customer grabs it. This is the bad side of low prices. They sell games so cheap that they are frequently out of good games. Overall this place is good, but I get frustrated trying to find a game I want among the piles of unalphabetized stuff. read more

It's been awhile since I've stopped in here and a lot has changed. Store has gotten bigger and the variety of things have changed for the good. I recently traded in some systems and games and was really satisfied with the cash I walked out with. Since the store has gotten bigger, there is much more space to walk around and things are starting to look neater on display. Prices are still fair, even with the market going up. This has been my go-to retro game shop for two or three years now. They tend to be a bit disorganized since they're so close to ASU, but too much business is a good problem to have for a small local business, I think. It's fun to see what new things that've been traded in since my last visit, and they seem to have a pretty knowledgeably staff when it comes to obscure titles and systems. I also love that they offer transfers from the other stores so I only have to drive if I'm impatient, which I am occasionally. Their pricing seems to be typically better than I can find elsewhere, other than the occasional mispriced game at Bookman's. came here to sell a bundle of items, a limited edition zelda 3DS 11 DS/3DS games and 2 nintendo 64 games. the idiot at the counter offered me $160 cash! it was so beyond disrespectful it wasnt even funny! i knew it was going to be low but this was literally insane! game stop gives better offers than this! i was absolutely blown away. 3 of the pokemon DS games are worth more than that alone! i will 100% be taking my business elsewhere that is forsure if youre trying to sell or trade in anything here DO NOT BOTHER. what a fucking joke! they have some decent older games but thats about it. save yourself the bullshit and order them online or go to offer up or ebay or something. i could not believe it when i heard it. the guy who made the offer must have had some sort of brain damage or something. i understand they need to make money but that was a fucking joke! they must really be hurting for money or they just dont have any care for their customers. read more

THIS PLACE ROCKS!!! My bf is definitely the nerd of the relationship but old games is something I can nerd out to. In terms of selection, the store is HUGE! They have so many game systems I didn't even know existed and their pricing is fair. Other stores seem to jack up prices on everything but not this place. They sell newer games cheaper than Gamestop (gs sucks). The customer service is beyond awesome. I would definitely suggest coming in when Remy and Scott are there. They know everything and couldn't be more helpful at explaining their tech speech. My only real complaint is that usually when I go, the place seems to be packed so it can be hard to concentrate but at least it means they're making money and won't be going anywhere soon.
