Finally! This place is a breath of fresh air. Every doctor/nurse who works here is incredible. The staff treats you like family. You can always get in the same day for a sick appointment. They offer naturalistic care firstly but will write a script if it is what is called for or preferred. After being turned away from countless pediatricians and doctors for our choice not to vaccinate our kids after a bad vaccine reaction we were welcomed with open arms by the BEST there is. I've hesitated writing a review for a while because the PA was so nice at the office. If my review helps another family avoid what we went through then what we went dealt was worth it. All of these incidents happened with in a few months of each other and some overlapping. To keep it short they missed plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome in babies) in my infant twins. I had a wonderful friend encourage me to get a second opinion after the PA reassured me for MONTHS that it would "round out." Turns out my daughter was SEVERE requiring two helmets and had a misaligned jaw. I brought to her attention that my 7 year old had an uneven scapula and looked as if it was early onset scolioses. I had to ask for PT and that was all we were given. No referral to a specialist or even recommendation to see one. We were told it would be fine and she'd grow out of it. We are seeing a surgery specialist next month. The last straw was my infant son at 7 months went into the office because he was crying, wouldn't eat and kept pulling on his ears. she said they were kind of red and he could get an antibiotic if it didn't get better. It didn't get better so we tried the antibiotic. He wouldn't eat for weeks. I called the office and tried to get some help. All they wanted was another office deductible to tell me to try another antibiotic. This went on for months where he wouldn't eat. She wasn't concerned and said he would out grow it and it was a phase. After a visit with a GI Specialist it turns out he was allergic to his formula I had breast fed until he was 7 months old). By the time we got him to a specialist after dealing with her nonsense and run around for months he was considered FAILURE TO THRIVE. He hadn't gained an ounce in over THREE MONTHS. I am all for holistic approach to medical care! I love my naturopath doctor & facility. This is not a qualified office to deal with more than a cold or flu. Side note: you will only ever see the PA. EVER. The Dr at the practice lives in Colorado. When I delivered my twins the nurses encouraged me to find a different practice and I didn't listen. I was warned. read more

I used to love Family Care Center but after Newell left it has really gone downhill... My appointment wasn't scheduled right (I was supposed to have a PAP smear, but apprarently I was scheduled for a different kind of appointment). After going through the trouble of making substitute plans and taking the afternoon of off work, I was informed that I wouldn't get a PAP smear like I had intended and I would have to come back another day. When I brought this up to Lawler she wasn't compassionate at all about my time, didn't apologize, avoiding the conflict (never asked who scheduled the appointment, etc.), and only discussed rescheduling the PAP, acting as if she was doing me a favor. She spent all of 4 minutes in the exam room with me, thankfully refilled my medication for two months, but I was not impressed with the lack of remorse she had for her clinic's mistake. I was the last appointment of the day and although I'm sure she could have fit in a PAP for me if she was truly motivated it seemed as if she had already checked out for the day. At the receptionist's desk I was charged $68 for her to take my vitals and refill my medication. I politely informed the receptionist about the scheduling mistake and again no apology or responsibility was taken. I left this office feeling like my time or my health didn't matter at all to these people. All I can assume at this point is that they want to get as much money as possible from their patients by scheduling multiple visits. I definitely won't be back after this, wasting people's time is so disrespectful. read more

Our family has been with Family Care for nearly a decade. I love having a family Dr that will tell you - no meds, wait it out. If you are looking for a Dr office that is conservative with care, only prescribing meds when really necessary, and okay with alternate vaccine schedules or waiting for antibiotics, this is the Dr for you. Oh, and we call them Drs. but they are a team of nurse practitioners who work under another Dr (at a different office). If there is something outside of their scope of service they will refer you to another office. read more

I have been to many doctors offices in my life and Family Care Center exceeds them all. My husband and I both see Kelly Fox and she is AMAZING. She really helps you get down to the bottom of things via nutrition, supplements, vitamins, etc. She doesn't just treat symptoms. Plus she's the nicest!! read more

Nope! I used to love taking my kids to FCC. I drove over an hour each way just to see them. Over the years, the quality of their help has declined DRASTICALLY. The front desk girl is rude, not helpful and not knowledgeable. She simply doesn't act like she cares. I won't drive a distance for that kind of service. I can get that anywhere. My whole family has gone here for the last 10 years. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I love that they offer alternatives to script medicine first. People don't realize the power of supplements over chemicals. At any point, you require a script they are on top of it. I chose the PA's here over all other Pediatricians in Denton County from day 1. Office staff is very unreliable, many times rude. Several times they were requested to send referrals to a specialist, only to find out it was never sent, as promised, so had to cancel appointments and reschedule. Never answer their phone, have to leave message and they call when they have time, may be the next day. Argue with you over the referrals trying to blame the specialist. I left them and went to a different Dr, where I can get a referral completed usually on the phone, they always answer. Been trying to get my wife to leave for years, she has finally made the change and we are done with Family Care, that really seems not to care. Last straw with my wife was when she requested an adjustment trying to lowering a maintenance medicine and then wanted to raise it back up, they gave her a hard time including Shantelle, would not even listen to her had already made up her mind after the rude nurse made her come in yet again, $$ to make the change back. Only to find out after picking up the prescription changing from 15 mg back to 20 mg that they mistakenly wrote it for 30 mg, fortunately we saw it. I had the pharmacy confirm what was actually sent over to them, it was 30 mg instead of 20 mg. read more

Although the staff at Family Care were extremely friendly and welcoming, we decided to leave and find a new practice as we had concerns that they were actively pushing parents away from the CDC recommendations, rather than just accommodating anyone who had an interest in a delayed vaccination schedule. We said repeatedly we were comfortable following the CDC recommendations, but got lectured about it each time. Additionally, they never asked whether we might have plans to travel internationally with our son (we do), which they should know could put him at higher risk - some countries even have strict requirements- and they never informed us that vaccination delays could mean we would be required to provide daycares and eventually schools with waivers. All these things we realized soon after we started with them, and although we tried to work with them to develop a schedule that worked for us, they were not helpful at all. We repeatedly asked for a concrete example of what a delayed schedule would look like but got vague references and no details. We were even willing to make multiple trips between checkups to spread shots out, but then it turned out they didn't even carry some of immunizations, which meant going elsewhere anyway. In the end it was just becoming too stressful and time consuming. We want our son protected and we want him to be a responsible member of a safe and immunized community, and we just couldn't realize that goal at Family Care. No matter your take on vaccinations, a doctor should make sure you have a thorough understanding of the consequences (and peer reviewed research) for not following the CDC schedule. Otherwise you are putting your child, and other children, at risk. read more

Great physicians but the office staff refuses to take ownership for phone problems. Oftentimes, after connecting with their automatic system and pressing the appropriate number, the phone will ring and ring, never to be answered by a person or picked up by voicemail. When I couldn't reach them and emailed instead on a few occasions, they held me responsible for the cancellation fee because the email was after the 24 hour deadline. Honestly, email is not an easy way to communicate with a doctors office and I wouldn't use it as subterfuge to try to get away with blaming my late cancellation on their phones being down. One may be able to dial a phone while driving or whatever, but it isn't as easy to immediately type an email to try to get in touch. When I told them about their phone issue, they told me I was the only person who had ever complained about this. Another reviewer on google cites the same thing happening to her. And how many potential new patients have they missed because their phone just rings so these people give up and dial a different doctors office? But ok, I'm making it all up to avoid paying a late fee. We have received great care here but they need to address their phone issues and take some responsibility for the issue. Nice practitioners who always take their time so it is a shame that the phone system is acting up and the staff doesn't want to investigate. I hope there are some changes, as I would like to keep going here because of the physicians. read more

My girlfriend was on the verge of attempting suicide from PTSD and manic depression and we needed to see a doctor for guidance asap. We chose "KELLY FOX" at this particular clinic. BAD DECISION!!! we went to the appointment and my girlfriend spilled her guts telling this "doctor" her deepest darkest secrets in complete confidence that she could help her. After everything was said and done KELLY FOX prescribed my girlfriend tons of meds and told us that "she would call us tomorrow to get us hooked up with a good counselor" guess what??? Never happened!!! No call! its been over a week now and not ONE call. Even after calling the office and requesting we speak to KELLY.... Wow... talk about a lack of truly caring about ones well being... If you have a little boo boo or a cold maybe kelly fox has a good remedy, but if you have a serious life altering problem like depression of if you are in need of a counselor or any follow up calls from the doctor you TRUST ME DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!!!! P.S. the meds she prescribed was a first time thing for my girlfriend and the doc told us it could make the situation worst and we will need to adjust the meds as needed. How can we adjust anything if we cant get ahold of the damn doc? what if she killed herself?.. I would be forever lost without my one and only because of a lying careless doctor. read more
