It can seem a little disorganized in the aisles at times but if you're willing to spend just a few minutes in each aisle looking around you can get some good merchandise at very reasonable prices. I saw a worker fixing shelves and moving products to their proper places so I can definitely see that when the aisles need attention the workers are right on it. They have a good gardening section for those who like to grow their own indoor and outdoor plants. There is also a nice food department stocked with pastas, sauces, candies and snacks. I do enjoy browsing through their beauty aisle where you can find some good discounted cosmetics. Definitely not top shelf brands but it's always great to try something new and get a break on prices at the same time. Last time I was there I found some good cleaning supplies and trash bags for the house since I was running low on those types of items. My purchases on this visit to the store were the cleaning supplies that I needed plus I treated myself to a bag of cookies. There was a bit of a line at the front registers but it moved quickly. The cashier was a pleasure to deal with and did a good job. Definitely swing by here if you are looking for some good deals. You never know what you may find!

You get what you paid for and found out that this item was a very thin plastic cover with elastic on the bottom and fused pieces . It fit nicely but it split at the seam as you can visually see on the photo where I had to repair it with duck tape . I should return it and shop elsewhere. But for now I need to cover my grill! What I don't really like is when store's use the word "dollar" in their name, but DON'T sell everything in the store for one dollar or less. For instance, "Family Dollar" (which, ironically, is RIGHT next door to this store) doesn't sell everything for a dollar, and previous stores I used to go to (Dollar Plus in Dedham, Dollar Plus in Walpole, both of which have closed). Anyway, this store isn't a dollar store, but thankfully didn't call themselves it. I had to do a double-take to realize the actual name of the store. It's really called "Super Discount Store". In the past, driving by, and until today I thought it said "Super Dollar Store". Anyway, this store is great. It has some of the best discounts around and a great stock of everything. I have one major complaint. The smell of the store. When walking into anywhere, it should smell great, or at least passable. I didn't notice if they sold any air fresheners, but if they do they should spray some around, and if not, management should walk next door to Family Dollar and buy one for the store, the Febreze "spring" edition would be nice. Anyhow, this stores best variety is clothing. They have good clothing at reasonable prices, and an extra large selection of "Boston" wear, and summer sandals. Other than that, all of the departments are mostly pretty good. The storage and container department was a bit overpriced, but other than that, everything from medical to toys to office supplies was all priced well and had a good, decent inventory. The lady working was friendly, kind, seemed to be working hard to keep the store clean (good employee!). The MIT FX only sells to patrons with university affiliation in the greater Boston area. Customers must show a valid university ID in order to make a purchase. I only arrived in the city a few days ago and have not picked up my new ID, but Julie was SUPER nice and helpful, allowing to show her my university email address on my iPhone as proof. There are a few new items available (all mattresses are NEW - they don't accept used ones), so I picked up a brand new full-sized futon frame AND mattress for $225. Then, I came away with some good buys on used stuff too: small wooden dining table and four chairs ($75), a not too obnoxiously floral sofa ($50), a small wooden coffee table ($15), and a broad wooden desk ($40). I also picked up misc. items like plates, toaster, lamp, plastic drawers, etc. for real cheap as well as couple of things on the house since I was making a huge purchase. Inventory, of course, changes all the time. You can find stuff for all rooms in your house. The store is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as 1st Saturdays, and during the peak move-in month, August, a few more Saturdays. They have a good relationship with Your Move Inc. for deliveries where you'll pay $60/hour instead of the moving company's normal $100/hour. Only complaint is that the FX is NOT a ten minute walk from the Red Line, as the website suggests. Just take the 47 down from the T, and you'll be better off than walking 15-20 minutes down from Central Square. I will totally return for random stuff here again. Thanks!

It was considerably smaller than many of the other locations I have been too. Extremely small parking lot too. Sure, it's Boston but the location just a few minutes away in the South Bay Center has a huge, giant lot rather than the one row available here. Inside is nice, it's a remodeled store. The problem is that they shouldn't have stacks of boxes littered throughout various aisles, or throughout the Nature's Promise section of the store. All of this work should be done late in the night, or after hours. Not at 10am on a Sunday when they need cashiers and are super busy. Kevin, the manager was very friendly but didn't seem interested in fixing many problems in this particular store including scanners that were not up to code with signage or broken clocks in the store. The giant pothole in the parking lot next to a sewer also needs to be repaired as soon as possible. This location was also just sort of run down. It needs to be more well maintained and have aisles that are more well stocked. Many expired items throughout the shelves and many empty shelves as well. Okay, but nothing better than that. Aesthetically, it's nicer and larger than other city stores around but still needs work. 3 stars. Okay.

I understood they were closing at 10:00 pm so I was making it as fast as possible. I asked for assistance trying to find the items and the employees pretended to not know where they were. They refused to help me. I asked the manager to help because at this point, they were stating the store was closing in 3 minutes. The manager said "I cannot help you, get out" and then proceeded to tell the employee to "lock him in, I don't care." He did not care at all and just wanted to leave but if I received the proper help, I would've been able to leave as soon as possible. I do not recommend anyone go to this store, in fact, this store needs to be shut down. This isn't the first time this manager acted this way towards a customer.

I also buy my meat and fish there because everything always looks fresh and the quality has been great. The produce I've picked up has always been fresh too. Don't forget their garden section with a great selection for seasonal favorites. It's clean and very organized, so easy to find what you need.
