I my BP has been nutty all of a sudden and Dr. Tang upped my drug. I had been feeling "off" and took my BP again a couple of days after drug increase. It was high. I called the office and left a message about how I was feeling and within 5 minutes my phone rang. MY PHONE RANG!@!! It was Dr. Tang, the best MD on the planet. I had an appointment the next day and she tweaked a med and now I am fine. This wasn't the first time she called me over something. Once she called me on her way home from her car and she sat in her garage for 5 minutes until we finished!. Okay, people, when is the last time you had a doctor call you at home?????? WHEN??? I have no idea if she is accepting new patients but if you are looking for a practitioner, ask if there is a waiting list and GET ON IT!! read more

Love my providers there. Truly. The admin, not as much. They leave messages but then their callback number doesn't work. Also, I don't like how the practice does lab work through someone affiliated with Labcorp bc it's hard to track billing, deal with insurance, and they charge a lot for bloodwork that's a part of a physical. read more

The front desk staff are horrible! I was denied my appointment because of a balance owed that I was never aware of. I always pay my copays and was never told of this balance when I made my appointment. The front desk agent just slapped a piece of paper on the counter with the due amount and looked at me. I had to ask her what this was for since I always pay my copays at the time of service - she said it was part of the deductible. It's not my fault your facility didn't bill my insurance correctly. Plus, the provider listed on this bill is not the provider I see. They still refused to see me without paying at least $300! Caroline has always been my provider and I'm really sad to leave her care but her front desk is horrible and have had many problems for years. Stay away!!! read more

The providers are fine. I thought Dr. Curtis was kind and thorough and he followed through with everything he said he would. My issue was and continues to be the office staff. Was not warm and welcoming the first time I was in there and getting them to answer the phone is like winning the lottery. Call back times aren't much better. They must be doing REALLY well since making appointments and enticing ppl to come back does not seem to be of a high priority. Who is managing the office? Admin needs some help. read more

Doctors and Nurses staff are all good. Please try to call in or dealing with billing team to see if you will get any luck answering by a human. My Insurance and myself called and left voice messages numbers of time but no one is calling back or response to my Medical insurance personal to clarify the billing issues. All I keep getting is receiving bills via mail with balance no further details or explanation. This firm reputation has chanced since some time in last quarter of 2021 (when I see most newly staff member). We called and came talking to front desk and it seems no one business there if billing is involved. I wish that they will have a escalation line or a direct personal to help with billing direction and no machine. My family and I love doctors and nurses here but their billing team is not helpful and pushing us to find where else. I feel sorry for the owner or investors of this Family First Primary Care . She is always patient, kind, thorough, knowledgeable, takes the time to explain everything to my girls and me, and doesn't ever make us feel like she is in a hurry or like our questions or concerns are an inconvenience. I saw Scottie (NP) since the actual doctors weren't taking new patients. Scottie spent 45 minutes listening to me and APPEARED to actually care about me as a human being. She listened to me talk about my health history of systemic MRSA (which doctors left me like a vegetable with seizures for five years after my c section because my white blood cell count was never elevated and I don't get fevers), and how all the doctors I saw labeled me a hypochondriac. She kept saying, "You poor thing, I'm so sorry." I kept telling her how poorly the other doctors treated me and how depressed I was for years because they kept painting me out to be a hypochondriac instead of investigating my symptoms. The next day I read her notes on my electronic file, where she basically stated she spent a LOT of time counseling patient (sounded like she was implying I needed psychological help) and that she "wasn't concerned about the slight elevation of my white blood cell count"...even though I have a history of systemic MRSA and have been experiencing the same symptoms for weeks now. What?!!! When I questioned why she was passing off my history of not showing symptoms as most patients would, she stated my symptoms did not match the standards they are trained to look for. I had already explained to her how my body NEVER represents like the textbooks -- even telling her I have proof that my blood hormone levels never increased within the first 8 weeks of my pregnancy so many doctors never believed me when I told them I was pregnant, but she dismissed that when diagnosing me. She never even looked at my previous medical records. She left me feeling like a meaningless human being after seeing her. I went into a deep depression because of her - because she did the exact same thing to me that all the other doctors had done even after she pretended to have compassion for me suffering through that. She knew this is why I had avoided doctors for the past many years, yet she then treated me the same way. She was, however, quick to get me referrals for ultrasound so a surgeon could remove cysts in various places in my body -- even though all other doctors refused to touch them because they "might cause an MRSA" since it's already in my blood. I told her that made no sense and that I should be tested for MRSA FIRST before cutting me open. There is a clear lack of medical common sense here. She may have good bedside manner, but that won't heal your health issues. I have my records to prove everything I told her, but that didn't matter to her in treating me. She saw my review and dropped me as a patient with a formal letter. Wow. read more

So let's just be honest here, I hate going to the doctor. It's nothing personal against doctors, they're great people! I just hate the prospect of being probed, prodded, and stabbed with needles. However I work in the healthcare field and I have seen a lot of things that could have been avoided if people just would have gone to the doctor, so as a result I am a firm believer in yearly check ups. I am also a huge advocate for finding a doctor that you like and trust. Unfortunately due to changes in the healthcare system, doctors rarely have time to spend with their patients. There's always a demand for them to move quickly in between their patients to get to the next one. My husband started going to Dr Grace Tang several years ago and he is her number one fan.....if doctors can have fans..... . She recently moved to this practice and he spent months researching trying to figure out where she had gone. I was also in the search for a good primary care doctor, and when I saw how adamant my husband was about finding dr. Tang so he can continue going to her, I knew she had to be a fantastic dr. (My husband is super picky.) So I made an appointment for my yearly physical. Let's start with the front office staff, on the phone when setting up my appointment they were very professional, and answered all of my questions regarding insurance, billing, and my goals. Upon arrival they were just as professional, kind, and greeted me with a smile as I came in. Unlike most practices, I only had to fill out a couple pieces of paper. Dr. Tang's nurse was also very nice, and professional. She took my height, weight and blood pressure, reviewed a few questions with me, but left the majority of my history for the doctor to do, which is very unusual. Usually the nurse obtains all that information and if the doctor wants to know they have to read it. But that is one of the things that I really appreciated about this experience, the doctor sat & listened to my health history, and wrote her own notes. And then there was the infamous Dr Tang! She was gracious, classy, thoughtful, and actually cared about what I was saying. She sat down and took the time to listen and ask questions. So very unusual from the typical revolving door experience i'm use to. And last but not least came the most dreaded experience for me, lab work! Before we go any further you should be aware I'm a huge needle phobe. I hate needles with a passion.... needles bring about massive amounts of anxiety for me....truly it makes no sense, but that's how it is. Dr. Tang suggested that I stay in the examining room and lay down for the blood draw instead of going to the lab draw room. For me this was an excellent idea! And then in came Brittany. I'm not sure if Brittany was a phlebotomist or nurse who does lab work ( as a result, henceforth she shall be referred to as the blood sucker!) but either way she was amazing! She kept me calm and relaxed with her down home compassionate and sincere demeanor, and she's really good at what she does. I barely felt the needle go in and she worked quickly despite all of the blood that I needed drawn! When it was all said and done I told her she could draw my blood any day. BEST BLOOD SUCKER EVER! !!!!!!!! And believe you me people that's not something I ever say! From start to finish I had an excellent experience at this practice. I highly recommend it to anybody who's looking for a doctor (and staff) who want to take time with their patients and get to know them, and treats them like human beings, not like a herd of cattle they have to get from one location to the next as quickly as possible. Oh! I forgot to mention their patient web portal. I realize more places are turning to this, but I still have not seen it as often as I thought I would. However! They have a simple to navigate web portal where you can email the doctor with questions, see your lab results, and see the suggestions the doctor gives you regarding your lab results. I have been a patient of Dr. Grace Tang for many years. I am very very pleased with her 'bed side' manner. She is very good at explaining what is going on and the options we have to treat the symptoms. She diagnosed cancer and another medical issue that most doctors would never have found. I searched for several years, as a Medicare patient, to find a primary care, female, family practice doctor who: 1. remained in the practice of medicine beyond a year. 2. stayed in the same practice before moving/relocating/ or joining another practice. I actually put my name on a waiting list for 1.5 years before Grace Tang was available in her practice to take new patients. At the time I was on BCBS. I later switched to Aetna Insurance having asked the medical staff, which insurance they have the best results and fewest problems with. Grace Tang, along with her office staff, have ALWAYS been professional, warm, and friendly from day 1! She NEVER wears a white coat as she knows from training, the "white coat syndrome" in peoples' minds, sending their blood pressure up! Grace and her staff are cordial, good listeners, caring, and simply practice the "old time medicine" of years gone by, when your family doctor was your family friend, and you could relate to them and they relate to you, as a person, not a 'number'. While I live in Raleigh, I will drive a little out of my way to go to Wake Forest to see/use her services, because of who she is and the kind of medicine she and her staff practice. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a primary care, family physician. read more

The doctor I visit here is quite good. The office staff is smug and unhelpful. I asked for a lab order. They refused to email it to me. They can fax it or use USPS. No email. Then the genius asked me which lab I was going to visit. I responded that I can't know which lab I will go to until I know where the labs are. She responded twice, "So, you don't know where you are going?' I repeated that I cannot tell her where I am going until I know where the labs are. On the third time, she got visibly frustrated and hissed "The order will be put in the mail to you." The idea of seeing things from the patient's point of view appears to be completely foreign to this young woman. I would have given feedback directly to Family First but they have no means of doing that. So I have to do it publicly. read more

I am truly disappointed by this office today. I had my second bad experience while I am fully accountable for being ten minutes late I had some expectation as a loyal patient whose has followed my doctor twice that the 10 min to 15 min grace period would apply as it was at the end of the day with no patients waiting in the lobby. I am starting to feel like patient care and relationships is no longer important at this office. read more

Choosing a primary care doctor is one of the most important health decisions our family has had to make. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult to find reliable information to assist you in making such an important decision. I am aware that there are many physician reviews on sites such Yelp and Angie's List that can assist me but I did not want to search for my doctor the same way I would search for a good restaurant, a good electrician or a good lawn care person. I choose to listen to someone I have know personally for over 30 years, I trust their judgment and knew they had a personal interest in me making the right choice...my daughter. For years, my daughter has raved about Dr. Tang and Family First Primary Care and asked that we give serious thought to changing our primary care doctor. My husband and I recently made the change and it just may have extended my husband's life. Dr. Tang's reputation preceded her and after listening to my daughter, at one point, I thought Dr. Tang could really WALK ON WATER. She made me aware that the doctors were thorough, concerned, experienced, smart, kind, they think outside the box and the staff was awesome. But what she did not make me aware of was the phenomenal and extraordinary FNP-C, LYNDSEY BENNETT. My husband arrived at Lyndsey Bennett's office with a variety of flu like symptoms. Immediately, she made us feel like a treasured patient rather than just another appointment. Her ability to handle a stressful situation and to get us to relax was done effortlessly. Lyndsey took the time to cover all of my husband's health history and concerns. At no time did we ever feel rushed. Her sensitivity, concerns, knowledge and her exceptional sense of responsibility lead her to order tests and procedures that discovered that my husband had a more serious disease and not the flu. Lyndsey knew the broad spectrum of possible options and was confident about which ones were best for my husband. We left feeling that she provided a plan that was comprehensive and tailored for my husband. Because of Lyndsey Bennett's professionalism, concerns, thoroughness and exceptional knowledge, she helped us to avoid what could have been a much worse outcome.
