Terrible installation! Our builder used Family Family Flooring and we have had nothing but problem with the work done. Our shower tiling job was horrible! Huge slope on floor which made it feel as if we were going down a hill while showering, tile uneven and poorly placed in shower; but that's not the worse! Our tile started coming off at the curb 6 months after move in and they were called back to fix it. They replaced the curb tiles and it started happening again. I called builder and he was going to replace the curb tile again. I told him the problem seemed to be bigger than that, but he just wrote me off. I decided to hire another contractor to come replace the shower, and as it turned out there was water going behind the walls, and I was starting to get mold behind tiles. Contractor said it was due to poor installation and the membrane under the floor tiles was damaged. I had to get out all tiles in shower and have it retiled. Something you would not expect to do in a house that's less than two years old. Jeff is not responsive nor does he take responsibility for poor quality of his installers work. Oh the carpet job they did was also terrible! read more

Multiple calls and visits for follow up and defects in the floor. Advised the customer that's covered by the manufacturer. Advised them the manufacturer didn't install the floor. Please see all of my previous reviews of Family Flooring for the full story. Family Flooring told us they would return to our home to fix any issues with the job within one year of installation. We called within a year and got the run around. Further more they opted to extort us by telling us the only way they'd repair the carpet was if we removed all of our bad reviews from the internet... clearly that didn't go well for them. Every room and hallway in our home has started to buckle and required stretching. We have now contacted Floors to Go to come stretch the entire house again. After all was said and done and the THOUSANDS of dollars we spent with Family Flooring we now have to spend another $800 to fix the issues with our installation. Never hire family flooring. I wouldn't trust them to lay a welcome Matt at our front door. read more

The measurements took about 30 min, and they accommodated an installation appointment for two weeks later (even though I could have had it done a week later but we requested two weeks so we could move into our home). Frank E. We recently had our old floors redone after 15 years. A friend of ours recommended Family Flooring in Chesapeake, they had their floors done by them a couple years ago and wete very happy. My wife and I went to Family flooring on a Saturday and Spoke with Kevin who was very helpful. Kevin allowed us to take several samples home to consider in our lighting with our paint colors and furniture. This was very helpful as the some of the colors my wife liked looked very different at the house.Kevin had advised us to take several color tones for that reason and we ended up selecting one we didn't think would work in the store but was perfect in the house. The process was much easier than we thought, Kevin came out and measured and looked over our project the following Monday. We had LVP installed in our living room, dining room hall and family room, and carpet in the down stairs bedrooms. We couldn't be happier with how they turned out! We plan on having Family Flooring to do our upstairs next spring. I would highly recommend them and already have to a couple of friends. read more

Be warned of deceptive business practices, failure to deliver a final product as sold and breech of contract. On June 2, 2021 my husband and started a years long process paid a deposit and subsequently $11,957.95 to family flooring to remove and install carpet in our home. You can see the trials and tribulations that we went through with installation if you read my husband's previous review. After months of being in and out of our home we finally had the job completed in January 2022 after paying for an independent inspection and pressing Family Flooring to be held accountable. We lost time at work, time with our family and were stuck in a cycle of negative interactions from the owners of the business. We called in December of 2022 (within our one year warranty) to request the carpet to be stretched in areas that it is buckling and coming undone due to poor installation. We were told that a crew would be scheduled and come out asap. We followed up via phone with no return calls only to finally get Jeff on the phone today. Jeff has now asked us to take down our reviews in order to fulfill the warranty. The review is accurate and when I discussed the issues with him he was dismissive, disrespectful, denied that terrible installation, oil spills, gashed walls, zero clean up and unsafe practices in our family home were a concern and were simply the cost of doing business. This gentleman said repeatedly "I'm right, we are right, we don't owe you anything" and has subsequently refused to accept responsibility while in the mean time slandering my husband, his profession and, from my perception, making me out to be a "woman" who doesn't know what I'm talking about when it comes to contracting and carpet installation. He refused to make good on the Family Flooring word and said that maybe I called the wrong company in December to address the concern; he doesn't know and it's not his problem. I was polite, understanding and trying to work with him as I could hear his frustration was escalating. To be honest we were nervous to even allow them to work in our home again for fear that however they fix the issue will be worse than it is currently. I'll take today's conversations with Jeff as a sign from the universe that I should not allow these individuals back in my home even though they are contractually obligated and under warranty. Looking forward to providing a positive review to the company who can come in and resolve the long standing issue that Family Flooring created. read more

Family Flooring did a horrible job installing our carpet almost 2 years ago now. You can see my previous review on the "job" they did at my home. During the process Tony and Kevin told us that after a year they would come back and fix anything that was wrong with the job. Well, I called around a year when the carpet started to buckle and bubble in numerous places around our home. They may be 6, 7, 8 large area that are bubbling and buckling. I spoke with Tony over the phone. He would tell me he would call me back. Then he would tell me they didn't have anyone to do the work. Then he had one of their installers call to set up a time with me (highly unprofessional to have your workers book repair jobs-but ok). No one ever came. No one ever called. Today my wife called and spoke with Jeff. In Jeff's opinion we are "too picky". Too picky that the job was never done properly. Too picky that the entire process was a mess. Too picky that the job STILL isn't right. Too picky that we just want what we paid for and aren't getting it... Well today tops it. Jeff (the OWNER of the company) told me wife that if we REMOVE the bad reviews from the internet they would consider fixing the job... WHAT????This make no sense at all. This is absolutely extortion! DO NOT HIRE FAMILY FLOORING. EVER. Now our carpet is buckling and bubbling and we will be left to PAY MORE to have another company come and fix the issue. If Family Flooring has any respect for themselves they would at minimum offer to pay for the repairs for a reputable company to fix the job that they could not do properly the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th time they tried. We just had our flooring done this past week. I have to say they were wonderful. The installers did a outstanding job in getting the floors done quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up before they left on Friday and then again on Sat. I can't say enough about them. Frank Russo was our salesman and he was also wonderful. You can take home a large sample so you can get a real idea of how it would look. Unlike the tiny samples you get in other stores. I was very please with the whole process, they made it very easy. Worst installation ever! We replaced all the carpets in our home. Less than a year later there is rippling everywhere. I have 3 uneven seam lines in one room that are so obvious and hideous looking. When I called to complain, the owner, Tony, informed me that it was the best they could do. Do NOT use this company. I wasted thousands of dollars! What a mess!! read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I typically, never give bad reviews and usually just chalk up poor quality of service as a loss. However, whenever I perceive that the exchange between myself and a merchant is intentional deception, that is when a company has crossed the line with me. As an officer in the United States Air Force, there are core values like Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All You Do that I would expect any servicing company to adhere to. But that was not the case with Family Flooring. My husband and I contracted with this company to install new carpeting throughout my home (which was totally empty at the time) in March 2018. It has been an on-going battle since then to try and get the company on the line or come out and rectify the problem with the install. In less than 10 months time of the installation, the carpet (in every area) began to buckle. It is as if, the installer did no stretching at all as the carpet was being installed. There are only 2 adults in our 5 bedroom home. Many of the rooms go un-entered and I have been deployed the majority of the time over the last two years. So, wear was not the issue. We went with this company because it was a smaller "Family" business as the name suggests. However, we did NOT get the personal customer service that we were expecting. We spent hundreds of dollars on brand new carpeting, only to have to have it all pulled up. The final straw was today (May 4, 2020) when my husband called (this was about the 10th time to date a call has been placed to this company) and was told that the owner would be calling him back today. Did that happen? You guessed it! No! Yet again, absolutely no response or actions that look remotely like this company is trying to solve the problem. My recommendation is to steer clear of this carpet company and save yourself the aggravation. read more

I do not know of any company that does FREE restretching after the one year warranty! You must be one cheap jerk, that wants something for nothing. Reply to Deborah C. / no one except a structural company or contractor can expertly fix floor squeaking! If your neighbors turned out good , then maybe their issue was not as bad as yours. Every home is different! We did our job, you said your floor looks beautiful. You failed to fix your problems before the Flooring was installed! I PROUDLY work for Family Flooring / we are the BEST! Exactly the right place to fill your flooring needs! Family is the right word to describe it. We bought some high-end vinyl flooring to re-floor out kitchen. Following installation, it was apparent that there was trouble with the seam. The two sides did not fit together to make a smooth transition from one side to the other. The installer from Family came back several times and was unable to get it right; not his fault. He agreed there was a problem and it had to be the vinyl itself. Jeff at Family Flooring agreed and asked for photos to send to the manufacturer to support a claim to them for replacement. The manufacturer was reluctant and did not initially support the idea of replacement. Jeff told us that we would be getting the new flooring whether or not the manufacturer owned up to their responsibility. While ultimately the manufacturer did come through, the fact that Jeff took it upon himself to do the right thing by us is an outstanding example of the character and integrity of Family Flooring. From the initial meeting through the excellent installation to Jeff's owning the problem from the outset, Family Flooring came through just like their advertisements say. I can't recommend them highly enough. They truly operate like a family....YOUR family. I wish them the best of everything and every success. read more

Hired this company to rip out and install tile floor in our, foyer, hallways, kitchen, and bathrooms. The two installers who came out did an outstanding job. Their work ethic and friendliness where above and beyond. We had zero problems with them and had enough trust in them to leave them in our home alone, to complete their task. We feel fortunate and lucky to have had such a great crew work on our place. We would hire them again. Family Flooring's customer service was great all around. The employees who came to install the carpet for our two floor home were hard working, and determined. They moved our furniture with great care and back to its original spot after carpet installation. They did not complain at all during the entire job and had positive attitudes. The lead technicians experience, knowledge, and efficiency were outstanding as he lead the two younger technicians during installation. Only use this company if your subflooring is PERFECT. We hired them to install Duraceramic in our kitchen, hallway, half bath, and laundry. We told them that the floor had squeaks and we wanted them fixed. We even told them that our neighbor had this same flooring put in and to prevent future squeaking, screws were put in the joists, and we wanted them to do whatever they needed to do to prevent future squeaking. FLOORS STILL SQUEAK IN SAME AREAS and Family Flooring says "it's not my problem"! I have filed a complaint with the BBB. BBB sided with Family Flooring saying that FF made a "good-faith effort"....which is totally UNTRUE. So, now I have a really pretty floor that squeaks, which is very annoying. I would NEVER go to FAMILY FLOORING again. read more
