Sat in the waiting area for 3 hours while my legs are progressively going more numb. One I finally got to the back, all the nurse did was come get me and drop me off. No intro or even checking if who she had was the right person. It was shortly after when Shannon Keating, NP, came I'm in and barely introduced herself. She would ask me a question and proceeded to talk over me when I tried to answer or she would just repeat my answer as a question. A CT scan and urine sample was ordered as well was some medications. She leaves and I was another 30 minutes before a nurse comes in to get me the medications and doesn't mention anything about a urine sample. An HOUR later Shannon Keating came back in check how I was and I explained I'm still in pain so she ordered another round of meds and then asked if they've taken me to CT and I said no. She states something along the lines of "well I'm about to leave. I hope they don't find anything on the CT. I have to be back here tomorrow." I thought that was a bit wild to say to your patient but Keating has no bedside manner so it isn't surprising. They proceeded to send me in a new nurse who I assume is going to be my night nurse. He had a real thick accent and I am unsure of his name but he needs to give up the nursing career. The first time when he came in the bring me the second round of pain medication was an hour after it had been ordered, he was speaking so quietly no one in the room could understand. He moved as such a slow pace trying to apply the lido patch causing even more pain and then proceeded to not even place it in the correctly spot. After he leaves, I become curious as to why I haven't been to CT or for my urine screening done because it's 1030. I called for my nurse to come in twice. The first time an African woman came to answer the call light and I ask for a wheel chair to go to the restroom because he was supposed to bring me one. At 11 pm I call again because one was never brought to me. Once the African male nurse finally decided to bring me the wheelchair, he pushes me to barely inside the room and leaves me across the room from the toilet. No offer to transfer me nothing. I cannot transfer out of the chair alone by myself. It was about 15 minutes of me trying alone and waiting afterward for someone to come. Once no one came, I had to use the wheelchair as a walker to walk down the hall back to my room alone. I have 2 females with me, one being my partner one was my sister. Either of them could have help me in the restroom if he felt uncomfortable and even then, that's part of the job. Helping people. 1130 rolls around and he comes back to my room and collected the sample. I asked how long it was going to take for them to come get me for cT because it's been almost 4 hours since it was originally ordered. Instead of answering, he turns and walks out the door. Not a single word spoken when I asked you a question. I immediately hit my call light because that's not how this is going to work. He comes back in and is trying to mansplain what a urine culture is. I am in RN, wearing scrubs. I'm not asked why it's being down I'm asking how much longer. He finally asks if I want to speak to a provider. I said yes and hurry up. 1140 something a new provider walks in and I explain to her what's happened and that I no longer want the African man on my care and if I'm not on my way to CT by midnight, let me sign and AMA and I'll go somewhere with medical staff who give a shit about their patients. I find out they just expect you to know to go to the bathroom on your own for the urine sample. I've never had that at a hospital. The last half my experience was not as horrible and I was finally out of there at 115 am. You all need to get it the hell together. As a medical professional, quit hiring people who can't interact with people. That was a fucking terrible experience and I can honestly say I'd rather die than be sent back to Parkwest.

I have not needed my primary Dr. Jackson in close to 3 summers while here, although have seen several orthopedic Doctors, GI and cardiologist. I returned to the area for the summer and soon became quite ill. I called Dr Jackson's office to get in to see her for what I thought might be bought of Acute Diverticulitis. The woman that answered the phone said that since I had not seen Dr. Jackson in close to 3 yrs. I was no longer her patient and would need to be seen as a new patient! The woman said she would talk to Dr. Jackson and call right back. About 4 hrs. later we called again and a different woman answered and in describing the earlier call she also said she would talk with the Dr. and call right back. Meanwhile, I was in terrible pain for that whole period. I never did get a call back and still have not 1 week later. I went to the ER in Lenoir City and was diagnosed with Acute Diverticulitis as suspected. I think Dr Jackson and her staff dropped to ball are unprofessional and obviously did not care about all the years I saw her. Pretty sad!

So yes I do registered no big deal as I'm waiting for my daughter ,I though yes by the time this clinic open at 2:15 we will be first inline. Meanwhile, while I'm waiting, there is a young male which I consider a patient, also registered, He sit around and wait after about few minutes then he walk away. Few minutes after a lady with her 2 young kids walk in and registered too. They wait around and see me there first. At around 2:20 -2:30 The Nurse Practitioner walk in put her white coat and check the front office computer, I myself together with my daughter walk in to the counter and trying to say something to Jessica (NP) that we are first to registered and was there before the lady with 2 young Kids. Jessica never see or check if we are there first, except that she said there is people before us, ( in front of us) So we let it go and me and my daughter went back to sit and wait. Now another lady which I'm sure is the Little Clinic Employee comes in and sit to take over the front office. The Young Male came back, so me and my daughter approach the lady and tell her that we are next. Her answer was there is person before you. So I get prostrated and say something about waiting for 1:30 hours, now and I was there before anyone else and this women just say you Registered@2:00 PM How that happened when I was the first one there. Which I think is wrong. I'm new to this state but been taking most of my medication for a very long time except for two. Those two I started last year. Dr. Workman is the kindest physician you could ever find. He's very concerned about your physical…read moreand mental recovery. He provides the patient with a very comprehensive explanation of what their "diagnosis" is, and he puts it in terms that you (the patient) can understand. If you are looking for a drug dealer, you best move on, because your medication is monitored with extreme scrutiny!! Your medication is counted, blood levels checked and urine screen. Doctor Workman treats everyone like family and this is a rare find in this day and age!!! His staff is the best of the best, from nurses to office manager you would never ever ever find a complete medical staff as good as they are to the patient!!!! I've known the doctor and his staff for 15 years, so I would ignore the two negative comments. My guess is they didn't get the type of medication that they wanted or just didn't want to go through the intensive screening to become a patient. One person said it correctly, "this isn't a pill mill!!" He tries his best to fix the issue causing the pain, rather than just passing out medication (that's like putting a band aide on cancer.) If you truly want help with pain control and the mental stress it causes, Dr. Workman is your best option. You will have to go through screening and that's time consuming and after you become a patient, you will be monitored closely. If these don't bother you then you truly want help. Doc works outside the box, so he may prescribe "amino acids" instead of name brand medicine. I'll give you an example, I get Sentra-PM instead of Ambien. Sentra is natural where Ambien isn't and it causes significant side effects, Sentra doesn't. One more, I get Theramine instead of a lot of different pain medications. Theramine is found in turkey and the drug is like eating a 25lbs turkey. This really helps with pain control and it's harmless, whereas pain pills have a million different ways to make things worse. Don't get me wrong, if narcotics are needed then you and the doctor will discuss this. My favorite is the "trigger point injections" these are amazing!!!! Once you've completed your round it almost takes the pain completely away!!!! Don't get these confused with those (IMHO) EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HARMFUL epidural injections. Trigger point injections and in house and done with ultrasound. It's amazing, you can actually see what is causing the pain and you can watch it explode once the injection hits the spot. I found it amazing!! Bottom line, I could keep writing about how good the doctor and the staff are at NeuroPain Clinic, but I'll stop here. If you need a caring doctor that knows what he's doing then call tomorrow and set your appointment!!! Like I said, he addresses physical and mental pain they go together and better if they're treated together.

He discussed doing a revision in his office, but I wasn't comfortable with that. With Covid, moving into a house, retiring and moving to another State it was Mar 2025 when I could get a revision by Dr Lucas. I drove back to TN, lined up hotel, and did everything I was told to do. The night before surgery he called me about needing an iron infusion due to my B-Cell Leukemia. I listened to him, and I straight out asked him, "You are the expert, so should I be getting this revision?" If he had said, "NO" I would have packed up and driven back to lower AL. He didn't say "NO", but wanted me to check with Oncologist which I did the next morning before surgery. My blood number count were within range; therefore, I couldn't get an infusion because insurance would not pay. Oncologist nurse said, "There was no issue with me getting the surgery done". Long story short, surgery was done and I've never felt so mutilated, ugly, with zero confidence like I do now. I've gone back and forth with his office and have been refused a refund for the revision and hotel stay. I was told in person and by email that a third surgery can be done in office to correct the surgery scarring. I have been sick to my stomach and should not had went back a second time, but I trusted him that everything would be good after revision. I was not going back for a third attempt. I got a second opinion in AL, and the surgeon said, "He would not had done the revision in the manner that Dr Lucas did, because the skin was already very thin". I will say, that he has a very good staff, but his skills as far as my surgery type is lacking. I paid a lot of money for both surgeries, and my request for a refund for the revision was denied! I will figure out where to go from here to get my refund. I have photos if you're interested.
