To the "young" guy who posted this restaurant is "good for old folks after church ... but not for younger people", sounds like he's one of the latter. J.R., I am one of the "old folks" and the fact this is named "The Family Table", should be a clue that it's a place you can bring the little ones, or grandparents if you want a nice quiet meal with "comfort" food. In other words, it's geared to the middle word in its name: FAMILY. Good food at affordable prices, this is not your franchise, get-rich quick set up but a family-owned business just trying to pay the rent and put food on the table (no pun intended). ONE star because you had to get your own condiments? Poor, entitled, Gen-Z-er! Getting your own is exactly what you would do at one of the "younger" venues. ONE star is when they switch your order with the table next to you; when they burn the steak you asked for "rare," or finding a hair in your salad, or your food arrived cold. But because you had to walk 20 feet for a little packet of sugar or bottle of ketchup it's one star? Just how DID the waitress not do her job? Did she ignore you or was it busy, and did you have to wait for your check longer than 10 minutes after your table was cleared? I bet you didn't leave a tip either, did you? You know what, you can give the restaurant a one if the food was reaaaallly bad, small proportions, or the restaurant was dirty. But take that waitress out of this rating. For that, you leave no tip. But you don't get to tie her service this review as one and the same. read more

The food was very good and the service was excellent! We live in Arizona but come out a couple times a year to visit our stepdad in fort dodge. He is elderly and doesn't drive so he loves driving through the countryside and we always go to the Family Table restaurant in Dennison. read more

We are so glad we didn't listen to the negative reviews of this place, in fact, we were about to pull into the Burger King next door and saw a few cars in the parking lot even at 8pm and decided to give it a try. The waitress kindly greeted us as we walked in and was very pleasant and checked on us quite often during the meal. I ordered the breaded tenderloin basket with fries. My wife ordered eggs over easy. We both ordered coffee and the waitress suggested that, if we were willing to wait a couple minutes, she would brew a "fresh batch" of coffee. We were very satisfied with the service, the food and even the piece of peach pie the waitress warmed up for us to share. Although there is nothing I would have considered outstanding (besides the very hospitable waitress) we were quite satisfied overall. read more

I eat here with relative frequency, but I wouldn't consider myself a "recognized customer". My experience was pretty much what I've come to expect from here. I was going to detail it more, but I noticed two other reviewers complaining about Patty Melts and Onion rings. I don't know what "sauce" on their patty melts they are talking about because this is my go-to food here and there is no "sauce" on this sandwich, therefore I am puzzled as to this non-existent "bland sauce". As for their price concerns a similar, but smaller, meal at the local Burger King would still run you $13.50. To me it's worth an extra $4 to get larger portions while drinking from an actual glass (not carboard), an actual plate (not a paper wrapper), and not have to clean my own table. read more

I ordered a patty melt with a strawberry shake and onion rings. They had four tables with guests that's it. What I got was a very over cooked burger, with bland sauce on it. The onion rings looked like they had been hand breaded, squeezed together the re-breaded and put in to a fryer that was way too hot. On the plate they looked like a mass of one onion. The flavor of everything (except the shake) was nonexistent. All this for a grand total of $17.00 + before tip. I did tip the waitress only because in the pandemic it's the right thing to but, I understand now why they were so empty on a week afternoon. Half of the onions were almost raw, I don't how that happens, the onion rings came out in one big mass, as if they were all dipped in batter, squeezed together, dipped again then put in a fryer that was too hot. Cons: I noticed a weird smell as soon as we walked in and our waitress never really checked on us after we got our food to see if we needed refills, etc Pros: Inexpensive, a pretty rounded menu (breakfast all day a plus especially for kids), and the food was pretty good. Horrible service and food our food was cold my husbands burger was given to another customer. The microwaved everything.

My fiancé and I have eaten here a couple of times but due to our experiences, we haven't visited again recently. Prices are a little high, particularly for the severely small portion sizes. If you order breakfast, the food is usually good and filling. My fiancé typically loves the chicken fried steak at other places but when he ordered it from here, it was mushy and cold. The wait staff are rude and ignore you after you get your food. Waste of money and ruins your night/day. read more
