I have had the privilege to eat at "The Purple Door" at least 10 times in the last two months. Not once was I ever disappointed. What a great restaurant to have in a small town like Harlan.it has the great gel of any fine restaurant you can find in Omaha. The prices are very reasonable. The presentation of each dish was first class each time. The cut in pork loin melts down your throat. The pineapple hamburger will have you coming back over and over again. The medallions are so very tasty. The salads are very good and huge. The salmon is awesome. The list goes on. Oh yes, their desserts are awesome! My favorite is the tiramisu. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here last night, It was one of the best meals we have ever eaten anywhere, and we travel alot. I had the prawns and polenta, my husband had the special which was Mahi Mahi with a wasabi mango relish- both were superb! Very fresh and beautifully plated. The space is very chic and the music selection was great. We were greeted by the owner, who also waited on us. Her husband was in the kitchen. This was a monday eve. They were short staffed on a Friday night which is absolutely understandable being it so difficult to find quality help these days. Order took quite a while to come but the service was very understanding and very polite. I was offered a free drink for the wait. I had the prawn with cheddar polenta and it did NOT disappoint. It's so nice to have a new restaurant open in Harlan! The Purple Door has a great menu with a nice selection. I never order appetizers but on the menu is Pork Belly Cheddar Fries which sounded so different I had to try it....very good! And the Cesar Salad with fresh shrimp was very good too! I'll be a regular and look forward to trying different dishes! read more
