I live in Southern California. My 93 year old aunt/godmother lives in New Hope, MN. Very nice doing business with arborist Travis from Family Tree Services! Sent photos of what I needed and he provided a quote range, which was on point when he got there to see in person. I was hoping to remove limb above neighbors side of fence to clear some space over their yard, as well as trim the tree away from the house. Once he got there Travis was kind enough to explain that cutting the limb away would likely hollow that bit out and that I'd probably get the desired result by simply trimming away the branches growing downwards along there. He also mentioned that he could do that and if I wanted more done could always do that after I saw it and decide from there. Very pleased with the results, both of clearing a nice patch away from neighbors side and of trimming back away from the house. Will be using him again! read more

This review is for the Family Tree Service located in Des Moines, IA. Eli, the company's representative, assured me his workers would treat my roof as though "it were a power line," being careful not to touch it. In fact, a large branch that was being lowered, brushed against the edge of the roof, causing $1,000 in damage. Eli, when I pointed the damage out to him, insisted his workers had not caused it and threatened to leave my property, with all the debris in it. The owner, Mr. E. Pedroza, declined to take responsibility and offered nothing to compensate me for the damage. I saw the accident happen with my own eyes and should have recorded it with my phone. I had a tall tree split and luckily missed power lines. I looked in our local directory for local tree service companies. Because of previous reviews I sent a text to Family Tree Service. Within 24 hours they respoofed. They use modern technology which is great. I met the representative to look at taking the whole tree down. He quoted me $1700.00 and said they could do it the same afternoon. They show up with very modern newer equipment and 8 men. Within 2 hours they were done. They took care of my property and were very conscientious apologizing because they left some ruts in the yard which were unavoidable. I highly recommend them. read more

I would give this company more than 5 stars if I could. Travis and his team are so professional and kind. They work seamlessly together, we're so polite and gracious. We asked them to leave the wood so we could dispose of it. They took the time to sort it into piles of like sizes and cut them down to sizes we could handle. Reasonable pricing! Travis did a great job fully trimming a large ash tree.. He is pleasant and easy to communicate with, as well as being extremely knowledgeable. He also did a minor trim on an arborvitae and a young elm. The cleanup was excellent! He even took away some branches of other plants we had clipped off earlier at no charge. Took down two trees and trimmed up a couple more for a good price. Honest, nice guy. Told me to not bother wasting money trimming one tree because it may not have much life left. Loves his trees. Travis and his crew did fabulous work on a very big job! They removed two large oak trees, ground out two stumps and did some tree trimming in my yard. They raked up the yard, cleaned up all of debris and and hauled it away, leaving me a nice stack of firewood. They were on time, professional, very personable, and worked independently. I was very nervous contracting for such a large job, being a first-time homeowner and all. I never needed to check on them and when I did check on them they were working, that was awesome. I felt comfortable just letting them do what they do best and believe me, they gotter' done! Travis was very friendly, easy to work with and trustworthy. This past week I contracted Travis to cut back/trim a large group of lilac bushes in my yard. I requested a 10 am start time and Family Tree arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule to begin set up. All safety measures were put in place including workers using hard hats and safety goggles. In addition, semaphores were placed to signal work vehicles in operation. The work was done in a swift and professional manner. When completed, the change in my yard was immediate and looks fantastic. Since Travis is an arborist it was an advantage of having him walk through my property to review the overall health of existing trees and shrubs which was done at no additional cost. I now have a good plan in place for future care, trimming and potential replacement.
