Taking off a star here. These ribs really are mediocre. Tough, not tender, not at all falling off of any bones any time soon. Everything else is delicious though. Get the pulled (chopped?) pork, not the ribs. This has occurred at two locations now, and they should seriously just pull them from the menu or step it up a bit. Have to agree with a previous post...no where near real bbq. Service was very, very nice. Ordered the ribeye (medium), poor quality steak and it was raw when it got to me. Pointed this out to the server who arranged half off for the steak, and that was appreciated. This is the second time I've tried the place, having the pork and brisket prior. Was just......ok. A little disappointed, as I think Famous Dave's sauce is the best in the world - the bbq however, at least here in Flint MI was not. Came in for lunch and had a half rack of ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Everything came out very quickly and was very nicely presented! I have ordered delivery many many many times from Famous Dave. Was only disappointed once, got some extra char on our Rib, that we didn't ask for. The Manager was contacted, and she offer to replace my full slab of Rib Dinner on my next order. On my next order, I was credited a full slab of ribs dinner, with no problems. This is my favorite place to order delivery from, because I know the food is good, and they have never forget any food items I ordered... wait, just remembered they did forget a bottle of BBQ Sauce, I ordered with my order, but other then that, never had any problems with missing items. This is the best BBQ I have had in a really long time! Hands down. Went on a Sunday afternoon we had excellent service. Our waitress was on top of things and very fast I wish I could remember her name ( it was an uncommon name, something unique) Manager stopped by our table and asked how everything was. Very disappointing! I ordered online at 3 for a 6 pick up. When I got here there was a sign on the door requiring masks, which was not enforced. The manager said that they had a computer issue, they have the order numbers but not the time. So everyone is waiting in line to tell them at the counter what their order number is and then they prepare it. I have a hard time believing that is the truth. The manager is not doing anything to help or explain to people coming in as to what's going on. Furious at the poor treatment when every dollar counts for small businesses to succeed. Very disappointing... i never left a bad review for a restaurant in the past, tho i haven't Had too until now. . i ordered an two meet combo, brisket and wings. witch was brought out faster than a tv-dinner . But my entire plate was Cold :( Drinks were tasty, and Brisket was very good. the wings however were Un eatable!! the exterior batter was hard as ice. We were in Flint for the weekend and found this place on yelp. We went for an early dinner at 4:30 and the place was packed. We sat in the bar and had great service from the bartender and had some great brisket and pork! The cornbread muffin with dinner was fresh and delicious. Staff was friendly, the food was good. The only issue that I had while I was there was the water. It tasted like dish soap. I let the waitress know that it tasted like dish soap and she gave me a new glass of water. The second glass of water also tasted like dish soap. Not sure if they are using a certain type of soap or if it's there dish washed but it made me feel sick. My wife and I are not fans of brisket, so we chose the Georgia Chopped Pork, which was amazing, with just the right amount of the deep, smokey flavor that Famous Dave's is so true to. Instead of coleslaw and beans we decided to go with the mac & cheese and the potato salad. Here is the infamous food itself. Included in the feast was: Half rack of St. Louis-style spare ribs. 1/2 of a Country Roasted Chicken. A generous helping of Georgia Copped Pork. 4 Corn on the cob. 2 Corn muffins. Bowl of mac & chese (with corn & jalapeno kick) Bowl of Potato salad (potatoes, with red onion, celery, hard-cooked egg, mayonnaise, and a hint of mustard)   All of the meat here is smoked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce and seasonings. Of course the best way to enjoy this meat is to drench it in sauce. Good thing that Famous Dave's has 5 delicious ones to chose from. Our vote goes to Sweet & Zesty, we even buy extra bottles of it while we are at the restaurant so that we can use it at home. The most popular sauce seems to be Rich & Sassy which is also great. I think that the most fun comes in when you dare your friends and family to try the Devil's Spit, or even a sauce that some locations carry called Wilbur's Revenge, which is even hotter! Aside from the great food and comforting down-south BBQ atmosphere, the service here is phenomenal. Every location we have been to has proved to us that the staff here knows what they are doing. We usually get a couple visits every time we eat here from the manager to make sure that everything is up to our satisfaction. All in all we say that this is a restaurant that you should visit if you are in the mood for some great food and a fun time. Unfortunately this restaurant is a huge miss. The staff are very friendly and our server was more than happy to recommend a few things but the food was very disappointing. We had nachos with brisket, a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and a pick 2 combo of pulled pork and brisket with fries. Every single food item we received was cold. The brisket was VERY chewy and tough. It seemed that they tried to cover all of the meats with sauces. The mac and cheese which supposedly had both corn and jalapenos in it was completely bland. Called spoke with the manager he was not professional at all. Told us that they weigh out the chessecurds and with that it comes to 11 dollars.... he said we can come up there and get are missing food but not get more chessecurds because that's what they give us which in the store you get a big thing of the mash potatoes but with my boyfriend order it came with probably only 4 bites and way more chessecurds because I've ate at the store multiple times. I'm really not a fan of chain restaurants, however, I do like this one. I mean I didn't go crazy with a big meat sampler platter or anything. I got the Dave's Sassy BBQ Salad and boy was it sassy!! Don't get me wrong, we love Famous Dave's food, but yesterday afternoon we requested a table by a window. My husband is legally blind and needs a lot of light to see. We were told we would have to wait until customers were done, when we pointed out that the tables by the window in the main dining room were empty we were told they didn't have a server for them. I called the manager right away after I got my take-out home. My son had 19 French fries and I had all of 18. I have never seen such small portions of fries, and small sandwiches. The manager was not sympathetic and said they weighed portions. I replied that I didn't drive all the way into Flint to have someone dole out fries with tweezers. When I was there, It took me several minutes of questioning from me to get the staff to explain that the barroom was open, but you could not sit at the actual bar. They just kept saying the "bar" was closed, but I saw people sitting in there?? Cute signs on the bar placed at every other stool made it appear that you had to keep a stool between you and your neighbor. No signage explained that the "bar is closed, but you can sit at the booths behind you." "A waitress will seat you." I was eventually chased away from the bar by an unsmiling bartender. To top it off, my son's brisket sandwich was 50% inedible gristle. I took a picture of the pile of meat that was not fit for our dog. I paid over $50 for this food. Our local sandwich shop (not a chain store!) would have given us more, and better food, for less money...and with a smile. If you want to lose weight, eat at Famous Daves. read more

My wife and I are HUGE fans of Famous Dave's BBQ for years now! But we have noticed it is 'hit & miss'. Most frequently (with take out) the ribs are burned...I mean CHAR burned! So we watch for that. That has never happened with dine in, isn't that odd? This week-end we decided to 'go out on a date'. Early movie and lunch, what fun! We chose FD's when we saw the other restaurant we frequent was full out the door. We got the 'Founder's Feast' to split, we are not big eaters. It took a lot of time for the food to arrive. Every item on the platter was at best warm...the chopped pork was cold...and the fries were not just cool but not seasoned (? don't they do the hot seasoned fries anymore?) We thought maybe the waitress was overwhelmed and couldn't get to the food fast enough...understandable. The waitress very kindly apologized and took the food back and brought a new one very quickly. Most everything was hot, fries still not real good but the pork/toast (open face) was colder than before. It still taste good and we were hungry so we ate. We are not angry, and we were not stomping mad as we walked out. But more than likely we won't be going back to Flint Famous Dave's again, and we can't recommend it to others. Sorry guys, for that kind of money there are just better choices out there than what we experienced and we feel like other restaurant's management WANTS our business! read more

The portions was not enough for a child the price is way out of line and there was nothing on the ribs but Bone at what they want for dinner for 2 this leaves a lot of bad taste in your mouth. This is the only restaurant in the world that I would cry over if it were to close. It has been my favorite restaurant for years and will be for years to come. The interior style is that of a collector's garage with old license plates, headlights, and old trinkets. The staff is always friendly, and the ribs are the best ever. Order them marinated in their sweet and zesty sauce, and add other sauces if you want to. Do not underestimate their hottest barbecue, heck don't order it even if you can handle it because it instantly kills your taste buds. We went to Famous Dave's on miller road tonite for dinner. We really enjoy the food there. However once we were seated our waitress had difficulty waiting on us. Drinks were wrong, she did not write out order down ( so who knows if it would of been right when came out of kitchen) when she came back to our table she told my boyfriend he was being rude to her because he did not say please when ordering another beverage, however that is not the case I heard him ask her and said please and thank you. She walked away. We got up and left, paid for our drinks then went down the road to Outback for a nice dinner and very pleasant wait staff.
