We won't be covering why the Beale sign is next to US23, but Beale itself is five minutes east of that on Fenton Road. Maybe they moved. Maybe it's the aliens. The world may never know. Dad and I ordered a plate of wings to share. I got a brisket sandwich with fries, while the ancestor ordered a two meat combo with a BBQ'd half chicken and ribs. We both loved the wings. Juicy meat, crispy skin. And not too messy because they didn't overdo it with the sauce. Dad said the ribs were excellent but didn't eat the half chicken as he saved it for mom. My brisket sandwich unfortunately came out colder than Pluto. I sent it back and it was much better the second time around. The steak fries were some of the best I've had from a restaurant. I also poured out some of their sauces to try on my fries. The Bourbon sweet sauce is okay, but the house sauce has a great balance of heat and tangy flavor. The hot sauce is good if you want the heat turned up a notch. The good/mustard sauce is perfect for fries. Conclusion: Miles better than Scratch BBQ in Flint. read more

While I have only enjoyed takeout from Beale St. I can confidently say that the meat here is excellent. I love the brisket and my husband enjoys the pulled pork. Unfortunately the sides aren't anything special with the exception of the cornbread which is excellent (insert chef's kiss here). The service is friendly and helpful. First time ordering here. They had no ribs or brisket. These are a must have for a smokehouse. Could only get pulled pork and pulled chicken. I picked Beale St. because they fresh-brew sweet tea and with an overall rating of 3.9, I assumed it would be pretty good. The mac and cheese, potato salad, cornbread, and sauces were are fantastic. The mac and cheese noodles were cavatappi noodles and seemed to have a smoked cheddar or Gouda cheese to it. The potato salad was like a baked potato style. The cornbread was moist and in my opinion, had some weird type of butter on top that I didn't like but my wife loved it. There are 4 sauces and all are homemade - Sweet, Memphis Gold, Sweet and Spicy, and House (a tangy, mild tomato). All the sauces were terrific. The service was also outstanding as our waitress was very attentive and even got us more ribs when I showed her my sad-lookibg rib. In fact, let's talk about that right now. The meats were sad. I have definitely had worse but they just weren't that good. The ribs were overcooked and they even gave me a rib that was nothing but bone. The waitress did bring me 2 more in exchange for that one. The brisket didn't have any flavor and was more chewy than moist. The pulled pork was ok. The other side I ordered was cole slaw and while it was diced and creamy, it was strong on horseradish. My sweet tea was brewed fresh and for Michigan, it wasn't bad. I thought it had a strong Peach taste and they added some kind of peach flavoring to it. The waitress told me they get it from Gordon Food Service then brew it. Maybe Gordon Food Service uses a different type of tea leaf. Anyway, the sweet tea was drinkable but tasted weird. Overall, I wanted to give it a 4 but after my wife and I talked, I just couldn't based on the quality of meat I had. There are some really good things at Beale St. like the mac and cheese, potato salad, and sauces. But the most important aspect of BBQ fell flat. read more

Pro tip: Visit on Wednesdays to get their wing special! You can order as many wings as you'd like, and mix and match flavors. They're big wings with a lot of meat on them which I appreciated. I think three stars is very generous on my part. I've been going to this place for many many years although I haven't been back there in over a year because everything tasted like it was reheated. The blues were OK but not really blues very so so. We went there at 6:30 PM on Friday for dinner and they were out of ribs and brisket at this point! Who does that that owns a barbecue joint? So we ordered into a sausage and pulled pork. Pulled pork tasted like cardboard no flavor no smoke. The sausage is OK little burned. The sides were horrible. The beans tasted like right out of a can, the cornbread was cold and felt like it was from Aldi or Gordon's. The smash Redskins were OK. We also ordered smoked wings for an appetizer which weren't horrible, but not top of the chart for sure. Staff was nice and our young waitress was very kind and apologetic. I'd love to go back when they get their stuff together since it's the only barbecue joint in Fenton. But I feel like I could do better in my backyard! read more

The old location behind the gas station was fantastic, that's the last time we ate at Beale Street so it's been a long time ago. That being said, I would have hoped the food, ambiance and service would be at the very least, similar. It wasn't. Our waitress was a snippy young lady that you could tell wasn't happy she had to come back to our table twice because we hadn't decided what to order for drinks yet. I imagine the fact we couldn't sit in a booth that she directed us to because of physical limitations a couple of us had and we needed to sit at a regular table may have initiated the snippyness. The food was VERY disappointing, probably yesterday's leftovers because it was around 5:00pm on a Saturday . The only thing that was warm were the fried green beans appetizer, the burnt ends appetizer were room temperature and at tough as a $2 steak. The main course of ribs, brisket and pulled pork were all VERY dry and also room temperature. The Mac and cheese, room temperature and actual tough to chew, never had tough Mac and cheese in my life. Baked beans were okay and the sausage was hot and tasty, yippee. $60 I might as well have thrown out the window. Fortunately we were there with our friends and were able to have great conversation, so there was good that came out of our trip to Beale Street Barbeque. I have very mixed reviews of this place. The meats and the sauces are both amazing. The wings are also fantastic. But they really drop the ball on the sides. The slaw tasted like some cheap store bought and the mashed potatoes tasted like it was made a week ago out of a package. Mac n cheese was cold, brisket was okay with no flavor and slightly dry. Pork sliders were 80% fat and my wife couldn't eat them. I am a big fan of smoked meats and Barbecue and decided to give this restaurant a try based on the positive reviews in Yelp. As full disclosure, I have a passion for smoking meats where you will find me tending my Lang and Yoder smoker multiple nites a week developing my Craft as a Master Barbecue guru (:.... Due to my passion for this type of cooking I have developed a keen eye and taste when it comes to serious barbecue and I am here to tell you Beale St Smokehouse has serious game when it comes to smoked meats and the sides they prepare to accompany their meats. While at this restaurant we ordered the Brisket and St Louis rib platters with Baked beans, French fries, potatoes salad and cornbread sides. The brisket was absolutely wonderful where the meat was tender and could be cut with a fork, moist and with wonderful taste. Their accompanying house sauces were excellent where I kept rotating through all four of them where my favorite was the house sauce followed by the sweet sauce. Relative to the sides, The French fries were amazing. They were deep fried and super crunchy with outstanding flavor. The appearance of these fries were deceiving as they look very greasy but one bite into these fries and your taste buds light up in delight. Beans and cornbread was excellent as well where the cornbread actually comes across as a desert in that it was so tasty and sweet. Really really good. Lastly the St Louis ribs were tasty as well and tender with good flavor where based on my own personal taste I thought they would be even better if they used a two tier rub with fine base rub followed with a course outer rub on top to add a bit more texture. This is personal preference here and not meant to detract on how good and well prepared these ribs were. Relative to the staff and the facility, the restaurant itself is non pretentious with a bit of an eclectic/rustic vibe to it which I liked. They also have a small outside dining area that offers nice privacy and a relaxed environment. Staff was super friendly with great service and follow up One thing of note is if you have a passion for this sort of thing as many folks do, make sure you peak around the back and view their three Commercial grade Hickory smokers. This is some serious hardware and quite impressive in its own right. Overall this place is a must do dining venue if you are in the Fenton area and are a fan of American barbecue and smoked meats. Definitely doesn't look like much from the outside since it is attached to a gas station, but if you're in the Fenton area and you enjoy BBQ, then give this place a try. We came in with less than an hour before closing and the staff was very friendly. My husband ordered a meat variety plate with ribs, chicken, pork and more and some sides including cornbread, and green beans. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both meals were very decent portion sizes. They had a variety of sauces to choose from at the table, so feel free to try them all. They were really quick with the food too. So many great reviews of Beale St. Smokehouse; I had to check it out while in Fenton. Small restaurant but the reviews and photos were making my mouth water. Stopped in and we started with the Brisket Nachos to share; to die for! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese. Couldn't finish it all; needed to-go boxes for everything. My Son had Mac & Cheese with a side of Applesauce. Also ordered a combination platter (not pictures) but was said to be excellent. They have four different BBQ sauces on the table for you to try, I preferred the House BBQ sauce, but all had unique flavors. Service was outstanding; social distancing in place. What started as a great family dinner at home with one of our local favorites turned into a disaster. Online ordering? Easy Pick up of $100 order for 4? train wreck. My wife and I arrived before the scheduled pick-up (about an hour from when we placed the order ), paid in advance, and headed to the bar for a drink while we waited. We finished our drinks and headed to the designated pick-up spot about when the email said our order would be ready. Employee after employee would ask our name, head to the table where they had orders for pick up, and never return. Pick-up time came and went, and employees asked what name the order was under but never returned. Others came in to get their orders and left. Meanwhile, still sitting and waiting now well over 90 minutes after placing the order. Finally, someone out of the blue apologizes as they have no idea what happened to our order. Here's a gift card (Which covered the 20% tip that we had left for carry-out) While I don't expect an order to be ready RIGHT at the designated time, I get it. Things happen. But staff continued to ask our name, walk away, and never come back with any update. It'll be ready in 10 minutes, 5 minutes. Nothing. To the owners and management: coaching on communication with customers is needed as that did not take place last night. Oh, and the brisket was like shoe leather, which was unusual. Our first time to this cool bbq joint since they moved from attached to the gas station (Hartland? 2-3 yrs ago?) Glad we went. Food was good. A little salty for us in particular. But we also cook light on the salt. We had some St Louis style ribs. Very tasty. A little pull would've been nice as that's what I'd expect with St L style. The burnt ends were good too (the saltiest) and guess what? They're actually brisket and not some other cut of meat like so many others are passing off. So BONUS points there. The smoked chicken wings were the tiniest bit on the drier side, but quite enjoyable/tasty. I liked the vinegar with the collards. Mac n cheese was a bit generic but not objectionable. Our main mean consisted of the sampler platter with a sausage added. Man...This BBQ is on point. My wife and I ate in complete silence, devouring the sausage and ribs immediately. The ribs here are to die for. We all had dry rub and then added our favorite sauces ( sweet, house, spicy and mustard). The best ribs I have had in a very long time. They were so tender the meat just pulled off the bone. Just the right smoke and "burnt-ness". The corn bread with pecan butter was also delicious.
