I went to FFF with questions about replacing couch cushions. The owner was extraordinarily helpful and took as much time as I needed to answer questions and make recommendations. He gave advice on measuring the couch etc. The prices were fair and the product is great. There was a lovely woman named Jackie there who did upholstery work. While I was there, a client came in and was extraordinarily rude to the owner, making a scene and yelling at him about something that was clearly her mistake. It was somewhat painful to watch. He was nothing but polite to her, but looked (understandably) shaken when she left. After she left, I said to the owner that I was sorry he had to go through that and he very kindly said that he imagined that she was very stressed about starting a new business and didn't take it personally. I wish I knew her business, so I would know not to go there, but I will happily go back to FFF. Glad to support such a great local business and I encourage you to do so too! read more

Well, it's weird how these reviews tend to one extreme or the other. I'm a happy customer. We've bought a couple of things from the store. First, my husband wanted some foam pieces cut to fit inside a couple of musical instrument cases. Tom was very helpful, took the measurements from the cases, and we came back a few hours later to pick up our foam. No complaints! A couple of weeks ago, I went in to find out about getting new covers for my existing futon couches. Although they have all kinds of fancy upholstery fabric, when I mentioned I didn't want to spend much, Tom immediately recommended a very low-cost set of zip-on canvas covers (I could cover two large couches for $100). He had some in stock and other colors that could be ordered. I wanted to think it over. I went back another day and Tom wasn't there. The person on duty didn't know about the custom canvas colors, and couldn't find the samples Tom had shown me. He was nice, just didn't know what I was talking about (that's my only reason for knocking off a star ... all the staff need to know what's available). I went back when Tom was on duty, ordered my canvas covers, picked them up 10 days later. They look great, basically as promised, and I'm happy. A quickie redecoration for very little money. Tom was nothing but friendly and helpful on every visit. The store had no other customers when I was in, so maybe I caught him on good days. read more

We were not prepared to be shocked and surprised by the great service and awe inspiring results!!!!!!! When we came to the store Christine asked what project we were purchasing foam for. We were planning to self-reupholster our dinning room chairs. We had done this set once before so we knew what was involved and had purchased most of the materials already. Christine said one of her contacts did upholstering and would we like an estimate? We told her that we had just come from 3 well-regarded yelp places and could not afford the $220 to $300 labor estimate/per chair and the additional cost for fabric and materials, but would listen to an estimate. We left one of the chairs and returned the next day to a fantastic BID. Her contact said two weeks. We left the chairs and materials and purchased the needed foam Christine recommended--which we thought fairly priced. After two weeks, Christine called and told us that two of the chair frames were badly damaged and had to be repaired before they could be upholstered and showed us the pictures of badly damaged/cracked frames. We determined that we were going to be held up for lots of additional money due to the time involved to repair the frames but what could we do? Christine called back in the next two weeks, during which time we had misgivings and thought the worse about the job and the additional cost. We came to pick up the chairs. THE RESULTS WERE AMAZING!!!! MUCH BETTER THAN WE COULD HAVE DONE AND AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN THE EXAMPLES WE HAD BEEN SHOWN BY THE PLACES YELP RECOMMENDED!!!!!! we were prepared to pay whatever the cost for the great results. Christine said it was all included and covered by the bid!!!!! ARE WE PLEASED? YES!! WOULD WE RETURN! DEFINITELY!!! WE ARE GODSMACKED!!! we are telling all our friends! I wish we had more projects to do and if we ever have the need we know where to go! And the foam is great too!!!! IF IT WERE POSSIBLE WE WOULD ADD AN ADDITIONAL STAR. read more

Although they did actually make the foam wedges they promised us, everything else about the experience was completely horrendous. Their "customer service" is tantamount to abuse; they insisted that we needed a particular variety of foam that turned out to be way too soft; and dealing with them was so extremely unpleasant that we want to warn others to stay away! They exhibit a contempt for their customers and a stubbornness about NOT helping you get what you want (e.g. they insist that you draw them a picture of the dimensions you want and bring it in in person, even though they could totally take it down over the phone, just because they don't want to stick their necks out to be helpful) that make them among the worst businesses we've dealt with. read more

Huh...I read the other reviews and I have to say I had the opposite experience. I needed to replace a cushion that my dog ate through and the guy who assisted me (not sure if this was the owner or not) was incredibly helpful, friendly and funny. I joked that maybe I should actually get two since this is not the first time my dog has "gotten hungry" but the guy recommended that I just get one in case my pup had a change of heart. I thought that was a good testament to his honesty. Most likely my dog will not have a change of heart and thus, I will be back! read more

Watch out! No returns are allowed. Cost me $2400 and now i am stuck with stuff i don't like. They don't tell you that when you purchase. Every furniture store has at least a 25% restocking fees but not Famous Foam. If you purchase from them, you are stuck with the purchase. Also, fabrics take more than the 3 weeks they tell you. This store made more or less what I wanted, but the man there refused to help me figure out what size of foam I needed. In fact, he stood by while I tried to make calculations, exuding a "not my job" attitude. Because of this, the foam I got, while cut to the size I specified, was not quite right. I would have appreciated more help with the specifications. ("Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a foam cutter!") When I picked up the foam, it was a little too large, and I had trouble fitting it within the cover I had. He watched me try to fit the cover around the foam for about 10 minutes before making a suggestion -- it was almost as if he enjoyed watching me struggle. Also the first time I went there, the shop was closed for lunch, which was not indicated on the web site -- so I had to cool my heels for an hour (while paying for parking). Overall, products good, service poor. read more

I do not understand all these negative reviews for this company. I have used them twice and both times they have been extremely nice and helpful, and have produced a quality product. The first was several years ago when they made beautiful cushions for my Craftsman bay window seat. The upholstery work was very well done and the fit was perfect. More recently, I just needed a large piece of foam cut to size. The manager helped me pick the right foam and cut it for me on the spot. All the while being delightful and helpful. I will continue to go there when I need high quality foam products. read more

Christine is so helpful! i have a leather couch that when you sit, you slowly slide off and the back cushion was sagging terribly. Christine recommended a foam wedge to insert inside the seat cushion to add a lip/angle. I also got some padding for the back cushion. For about $35, the problems were fixed and my couch is so much more comfortable now! read more

wow, my experience was very different. I have received very good attention every time I've visited, with lots of feedback and ideas and explanations. About 12 years ago I bought a guest futon...very inexpensive thing that was also quite compact. The foam, with a very nice upholstered cover, is still in very good shape and it has gotten used with the regularity of a guest bed with multiple-times per year use. The frame did fall apart after about 9 years but it was a floor model and I got it cheap. I'm considering buying another from there, but a more durable kind. The only thing I don't like is that delivery is extra and I live only a few blocks away. read more

I have to say, These guys took care of me quickly and professionally. I needed foam fitted to the interior of a Halliburton case. Tom got it measured up, we determined the appropriate material and he cut it to fit, and I was out of there in a total of fifteen minutes! (I'm sure couches and larger projects need dropping off though...) So, if you need custom foam work done, I recommend this business. read more

I read the reviews and had a similar experience that some of the negative writers had, I didn't want to go there for my new mattress because of the feeling I had last time. No eye contact and I felt like they were doing me a begrudging favor. That is how I found this website, but I went there yesterday anyway, and it was a great experience, Tom the owner was all alone in his store and he was on target with good service this time. Very nice guy helped my girlfriend, explaining all the nuances and details about purchasing a foam mattress. They have a good selection of various densities and customization options to add different covers and foam top layers. They also have a few platform beds with options for different headboards. Very reasonable prices compared to other foam mattress stores too! They can even pack up your mattress under vacuum pressure so it'll fit into the back seat or trunk of your car. This place is great!! Christine is very nice and went above and beyond to help me. I've been coming here for years and years and I have consistently had stellar experiences. Also, their foam and furniture holds up extremely well to years of wear. I recently brought in an item I had bought there that needed a minor repair. They fixed it up as good as new for no charge (which was kind of amazing considering that I had already had it a few years.) I would give this store six stars if I could. They are so much better than any department store I have ever walked into; no pressure, good information, intelligent people. It's rare to encounter such down-to-earth competence in your craft, as Tom showed me when I came in with a complicated couch cushion question. I had an old couch that I loved and difficulty replacing the shape of the cushion and the stuffing. He was patient and gave me lots of options. Eventually, I had him make me a new cushion that fits perfectly and looks amazing. Great guy, great store, great price. I'm coming back, next time I need help with furniture. read more

I have been a customer of Famous Foam Factory since they opened in 1998. I am not sure about some of the poor experiences people have had here but I have purchased three bed frames and two different latex mattresses from this establishment. The mattresses took a little time to arrive but I have never slept so well. In fact, I am getting ready to purchase bunk beds for my kids and I will order latex mattresses again. I think the investment is in your body so a mattress needs to last longer then your typical generic one's that last seven-ten years and then sage. I can't say enough good things about my latex ones. I go there once a year just to purchase more latex pillows for family members as gifts. I also had some funky re-foaming of some chairs and if it wasn't for the staff it might have gone poorly. I think the service has always been excellent. I am sorry that people have had difficult experience but why not check it out for your self first before judging. read more
