I called the Fred Meyer pharmacy with genuine questions about a refill date discrepancy I noticed between my old insurance and what the pharmacy had on file. Instead of receiving any clarity or basic courtesy, the pharmacist was dismissive, showed zero empathy, and ultimately hung up on me mid-conversation. I wasn't being difficult. I was confused - which is a completely reasonable thing to be when your insurance, doctor, and medications are all changing at once. Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who regularly work with patients in exactly these situations. A little patience and a clear explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel like a suspect for asking a straightforward question. That is unacceptable. I'll be transferring this prescription as soon as my current refill is complete.
