To start with, CCS.com a/k/a California Cheap Skates and Daddies Board Shop are the same business now. If you order on CCS.com, you'll get at least one notification from DBS. When the merger or rebrand happened I cannot say, but I would advise people to be very careful purchasing anything from either site or store. Recently I ordered a few pairs of shoes to try. Generally I never order any shoes online unless they are returnable because every brand and model are different fit wise. Everyone's feet are also different and not every shoe will work for everyone. Sites like Amazon and Zappos understand this. If I get a pair of shoes from one of those sites and they do not fit, I know I can easily return them in 99% of cases. Not so with DBS or CCS. They make the return process difficult and it is very difficult to get in touch with customer service. There is an automated return process, but it doesn't work correctly so you are back to waiting for customer service to reply to emails. This is hugely inefficient for customers and a colossal waste of time. In 2023, no one expects a sizable online retailer to make things that difficult. I am still unsure if my return will be accepted at this point. I may have to get my credit card company involved and take action to light a fire under Daddies a/k/a CCS.com. Not what I like doing with any retailer. Before anyone asks, I did not order ANY limited edition or special order items or any NIKE items. My advice is to simply shop elsewhere. There are way too many choices these days. Any fond memories I have with respect to CCS's reputation and customer service way back in the 90s are out the window now. read more

We stopped in tonight to check out some boards and ended up getting a helmet for our daughter. I didn't catch the guys name that helped us but he was amazing. He kept offering to get different sizes and helmet for her to try on until we found one that she loved, not to mention he had the best customer service. Just like everyone else has said, their customer service is a dumper fire. I ordered a Loaded Tarab which is $299.99 for just the board, I ordered the wrong flex which is my fault, not a big deal. I would've kept it but the board was also damaged and wasn't even wrapped up which is why I can see why it was damaged. I didn't even care about the restocking fee or anything and I already paid $25 to get it personally returned. I returned the board in less than 2 days and it arrived April 9th, which I have proof with my tracking information. I waited a few weeks to give them a chance to refund since it says they take a couple of days and I never got a refund. I emailed support and talked to them and they asked for my information, I told them that the board has already been delivered and I sent them email after email showing all the information and pictures. They stopped responding 10 days ago and I tried to follow up with 5 different emails in the last 10 days and I have yet to hear anything from them. It is now May 4th and I still don't haven't received any emails from them or any sign of getting a refund. read more

This place is really called CCS Which is a global skateboard mail order company that's been around forever. I think daddies bought the brand and brought it back from the grave. Anyway, the cool thing as you can order anything from there massive online catalog and get it in the store live. I definitely like supporting the local skate shops to but sometimes of gigantic selection is a really good option. So in those times I go here. Good for clothes also. read more

I think this is technically CCS now, but the retail store has the rudest snarkiest dudes working there. They're openly condescending to customers and most of the time just talking amongst themselves. Occasionally you will get the 1 helpful dude who doesn't treat you poorly, so this review does not go to that 1 guy. But man, this place is awful. Board shops shouldn't be like this, go into any board shop in Portland and you will literally meet the nicest people on earth who are happy to field questions and just chat as well as go out of their way to both help you with your deck and board as well as fix any problems. Such a frustrating experience shopping online. I bought a bag that was on sale. Directly under the price it said the bag could be returned within 30 days for a refund. When I tried to return it, they gave me a store credit. When I asked why, they said that it wasn't valid for a refund even though it said it was on the site. Apparently, you have to click on "see details" and read the fine print of their return policy and the return policy listed on the actual product page is a total lie. The customer service manager was super rude and short tempered and said that the website needed to be changed to reflect the actual policy. Took a screen shot of another sale bag from the same brand for reference of what is on the site, although I think they changed it since I called. Such a shitty customer service experience. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Daddies Board Shop for a gift for my wife"s birthday. First, the board came smashed. While I can understand that FedEx isn't the greatest, you should have seen how this thing was packed - there was no packing material on the sides of the box, so there was just cardboard and then board. Second, I called and told them what happened. The customer rep was nice enough, but promised a refund as soon as I shipped it so I could get my wife another gift. They held on to my money for another 4 days. The WORST part of this is that they only gave me a partial refund after assuring me that I would get a full refund. I don't know how I deserve to lose money by placing a simple internet order where I just the box, saw the smash, called them, instantly repacked it and sent it back. I really don't know. My recommendation to you is to think a little bit before you deal with Daddies. Seems like a cool shop, but the quality and customer service is horrible. Told me was was bad (just the broken board) He said the trucks were ok, bearings were fine and wheels were ok too. He didn't try to up sell me on anything i didn't need and he could have. Zach was very helpful explaining all the differences and asking questions about her riding style,etc. She's a novice and I haven't ridden since I was a kid. I called before placing an online order and asked which length truck bolts I would need to mount the trucks on a bamboo Sector 9 board; and the person on the other end said 1 inch bolts would work. I received the trucks and the 1 inch bolts were too short; turns out they should have recommended 1 1/4 inch bolts.. I emailed customer service and they responded.. "I apologize for that. Went in looking for trucks for an old Vision board as well as a longboard set up. Everyone was super helpful. They have so many demo decks to try out so I tried out all the long boards so that is a major plus. It just happened to be Go Skateboarding Day too and lucky for me they hooked me up with an awesome long board set up and trucks for my Vision. What I liked most about this place is that two days earlier I was in the store just looking around but because I was in my work clothes I didn't test any of the boards out. Still they talked to me a bit about different boards and were really helpful. I left without getting anything and they were still super nice. I hate going to places where you feel pressured to buy. These guys are really easy to talk to and clearly they all like what they do. Right off the bat I felt comfortable walking into the store and all of that has to do with the attitude of everyone that works there. Customer service is terrible. Ordered a board through them labeled as "stiff" As soon as I got it I mounted it up and it turned out to be super flexy. I figured no big deal, I'll just return it. I spent $20 to ship it back to them, then I get an e-mail asking me to call them. They said I didn't include return paperwork (I did) and that they were, on top of shipping charges, going to charge a $13 restocking fee even though the board was not as advertised. Their return process is garbage, you would never see this kind of thing from Amazon or most other online retailers. I wont be shopping with them again. read more

I purchased a pair of vans on April 5th. I specifically put in for a women's size 9 on the upper website bar. Today I received a men's size. So upon trying to return them I logged in online and went to my order. There is no return button! How am I supposed to return these men's shoes if you won't give me a prepaid label? Also I went to ups and they did a price check to see how much it would be to ship back it's 17$ for the cheapest shipping option. So now I have men's shoes that I cannot return do to price of shipping. I called customer service and they where extremely rude to me. We ordered a custom deck skateboard about two weeks ago and the finished product isn't what we were expecting. Based on the preview of our top image it seemed like the customized messaging would be on a wood finish and not printed on a white sticker and slapped onto a green board. Additionally, we were expecting to have our board delivered by last Friday to be able to gift it to someone this week. Every time we called for an update they were nice but did not provide a lot of information regarding where in the process the board deck was on. Daddies Board Shop is the first shop I ever ordered anything from when I first started longboarding. They had an obviously superior selection as far as product goes, and I was just overall stoked on what they had to offer! That was a good six years ago, and I still come back to them whenever there's something that I need. They have, as I said, a superior selection in all things longboarding (as well as all the other things they carry). Even when something goes awry with an order, they do their utmost to help you out and right things. I highly recommend going to them, in person if you can, or online otherwise. The service and selection is great either way. I also have to say, being in Hawaii, I am faced with ridiculous shipping costs left and right, but from Daddies it's always reasonable and I get my items faster than from anywhere else. !For the love of god do NOT order a board online from this shop! They sent me the wrong board and I'm pretty sure they were aware of this, as soon as I contacted customer service they told me the board I ordered was out of stock. (I didn't receive a single email telling me it was out of stock prior). So I assume rather than lose the sale they just decided to send me a different board. Not only was it the wrong one but parts of it were all scratched up when I got it, they barely even attempt to package it in a way where it will stay safe. I sent photo evidence of everything to them and they were not even a little bit apologetic. From the looks of other reviews I'm sure they do this shit all the time. PLEASE do not give them your money, this experience was one of the worst I'd ever dealt with, their "customer service" so blatantly does not care. Ended up having to return it because they would not refund me otherwise and ordered a new board from Motion Board Shop, they have a number you can actually reach and have given me awesome customer service, I'd highly recommend them instead. read more
