I stopped by this consignment shop yesterday because it happened to be in the same parking lot as T.J. Maxx, which I had stopped by just before. They had the cutest selection of retro outerwear. There was specifically a lot of Nike, Columbia, North Face, and a few other similar brands I can't remember off the top of my head. They had Columbia wind breakers in every possible color and material. The store is arranged by size and color, so it's really easy to find what you're looking for. The only reason I didn't end up buying anything was because I know for an absolute fact that I could get a brand new Columbia jacket for the exact same price at the outlet across the street. Pretty much all of their jackets were marked $25, which is how much they go on sale for brand new at the outlet. But if I struck out at the outlet or needed a specific color/pattern windbreaker for a party/event or something, then I would definitely come back here. I did not experience any of the issues with snotty customer service or a bad smelling store that other reviewers complained about. I actually thought it smelled pretty decent for a consignment store/Oregon. The girls at the counter greeted me when I came in and told me to have a nice day when I left. To be fair, I wasn't trying to sell anything, but, as a consumer, I appreciated their very specific brand/style curation. One of the other reviewers was complaining that they didn't buy her used non-brand-name clothes--like-- girl, duh. Just because you thought something was cute and a good deal doesn't somehow entitle you to a high resale value. This store is a great place to kill some time or find some retro outerwear, and the negative reviews are seemingly all trash. read more

I think they have forgotten what a second hand consignment store means, out of five full totes of clothes they took four items. I think the people (very young girls) that are going through the clothes are shopping for things that they would like rather than the general public. People do not go to a secondhand consignment store looking for top-notch brands but looking for clothes that are in good condition that they can afford for either them themselves or their children. This store used to be somewhere that you could go and sell and find other clothes that were in great shape still for a great price, the fact that they are looking for Athleta, Lululemon, and top-notch brands only instead of reasonable brands that are in great condition from people is absolutely absurd. Not sure how this store is even still around with how they operate these days, nothing like when they first opened. read more

This place is a joke. I took really good brands of denim in(Risen, Kut, L.I.T, Judy Blue) and they offered me $35 dollars for 6 pairs. They then shoved all the rejected denim back in my two bags. They ask for us to bring it in nice and neat then shoved our items back in our bags. No respect. The employees did not even bother to apologize or help. Try Threadup instead. read more

I would give 0 stars if it would let me. Do not try and sell clothes here. I had barely worn clothes and some with tags on them that weren't worn, and just sitting in my closet. I decided to donate them and get some cash for college. They did not take ANY of my nice clothes. They said my brands of clothing were not in style which to be fair, I personally don't look for specific brands. Just cute and nice clothing that fits my style. I gave them a laundry basket all nice and neat and when I came and picked it up it was trashed. They are rude and tried to give me a coupon for 20% off of ONE ITEM. Overpriced Goodwill with staff that is rude and unprofessional. Typical Washingtonians. The shoes that cost $80 brand new on Nike website, they sell "well used" for $50 and make it a final sale (which they never worn you unless you read the receipt). The staff is rude and unprofessional. No wonder they have two star reviews. Absolutely poor inventory. Prices are inadequate and staff is rude. I wouldn't step my food at the door of the store again and wouldn't recommend you either. Beware.... Not to mention when I tried one shoe, they wouldn't let me to try both shoes together. They took away the right shoe and gave me the left one explaining that there a policy that shoes over $20 they do not allow to try both shoes. What is wrong with people today? How do you buy a pair of running shoes if you can't even try walking in them? I literally had to put the shoe back on the rack because they would not let me try both of them at the same time. Stopped in at Plato's Closet to buy a pair of pants and to sell a few items. They bought a pair of new Nike shoes. Yahoo! The other items they passed on because the employee said that I had brands that do not sell. I had all new Coach, Michael Kors, Victoria Secret Pink, Forever 21, and Adidas items. I did see these same brands in the store. I am confused. Perhaps the employees are told to buy only one item from each person, or perhaps they do not look beyond the first item in the bag. Whatever the reason, I will never know. I do think that a lot of the items are overpriced. I did find a nice pair of pants, so it was worth the trip. read more

This is the trashiest Plato's I've ever been to. I am guilty of buying into trends, shopping a ton and then never wearing anything I buy. Because of this I occasionally go to Plato's to sell. But hate going here. It ALWAYS smells dirty in there, 90% of the items they are selling look dirty and heavily used, not to mention look like they were trendy back in 2010. The employees all dress like they shop at garage sales and aren't trendy or clean looking every time I go in. The store is just gross and trashy, it's humiliating to even go there to try to sell my stuff. They displays and layout of the store is just tragic. This store needs a new owner and an entire rebranding. Not sure how their buying process works because I look around and see what they're selling vs. what I'm bringing in- which is always on trend- I don't hang on to my clothes long after buying them, and they're like a month or two old so I know they're currently on trend. I buy from major and popular labels and the current trends - think insta and Pinterest trends. So when they don't take much and tell me they don't buy my brands or my items don't sell well is extremely confusing as MANY of my items are still being sold in stores. I wish Vancouver had better options for selling unwanted clothes. To whomever owns this store- as one of the only resale stores in this town PLEASE do Vancouver a favor and invest in revamping the store, your employees, training of those employees, and improving the buying process. read more

Came to try and sell coke clothes. I saw on their social media that they needed sweaters which I had a ton of. Brought in a tote full of them along with a few bags of other miscellaneous clothes and shoes. Not even 30min later I get a text that they went through it and I could pick up. They bought a whopping 3 items. They said they didn't take the brand that I had and offered me $16 for the three items. One of them was a brand new pair of Adidas. This place is a joke. Good selection of clothes here for young adults. It's true they don't take too many things that you bring in. My experience here as a regular shopper has been good. Take the time to browse and you'll find some things you'll like! If you can bring in items to sell early on in the day you won't have to wait long and you'll get your things back fairly quick. We expected to get around 100-200 bucks from what we brought, but ended up getting 12$.. So, about the terrible reviews I've seen regarding the girls working here, I've never had a single issue with anyone being rude to me ever, and I've been shopping here forever. They're always either busy, or they helped me with a smile on their face. And I was just there and had three very nice interactions with the staff! One girl even complemented my glasses, just because she was being friendly! And believe me it's not because I'm cool. I'm 35, pasty white, with a blotchy red face. I feel like a lot of people on here just want to be offended by things or expect to be treated in some way that isn't realistic. I also feel like they assume that since the girls are young and cute that they're just hanging out being bitches? I don't get it. I'm sure there have been a handful of girls with attitude to work there, because they do exist, so a few of the bad reviews are warranted, but I think it's gotten out of hand. As for selling here, I haven't in a long time, but when I did I 'd say I made an OK amount for the amount of clothes that they took. Could I get more if I did it myself? Yes! But I'm too lazy, so I give up some money for the convenience. I do remember them giving reasons for things that didn't quite make sense to me, but I don't think the reason should really matter. This is was my favorite location until I came in today and saw some of the items they had for sale. Vans slashed at the elastic band for 18$. A #meninist shirt. Ew. I brought some items in and they passed because "wear and tear" even though the girl said I brought in great brand items but apparently they're not great enough for this place, even though I repeatedly found damaged and heavily worn items. Pretty bummed. I don't think the girls know what they're buying - I don't know what sort of training they go through. I also found a kids t-shirt from Disney in the "XL" section. If I could give zero stars I would, I came in today with 2 big bags of clothes. Granted, I understand they can't always take everything or anything at that. I called before hand asking what they were and were not taking so I didn't bring anything useless. And if they looked through them and decided they couldn't take any I would've been fine with that. But once I got my bags back (which was right away) I could tell they didn't even take the time to look at them. My bags were unopened and untouched. I love this store, I shop here once a month for all their Designer Jeans and for cool stuff for my 18 year old son. One thing I must point out which is very important is that the young girls that are working there are not very friendly which is terrible but more importantly they are VERY INAPPROPRIATELY DRESSED, If you're working retail in a clothing store you should be dressed accordingly; wearing clothes that you sell and most importantly fit your body shape. read more

Came in on the 25th of June during the afternoon to drop off some clothes, and when I returned after waiting a while I got in line behind some other customers. After a second of waiting the blonde girl behind the counter said "You can wait in line at the register." and I thought, 'But, I already am in line at the register?' I assumed she meant there was a second register she wanted me to wait at since I was already in line at the first one, and when I walked to the other side of the two customers being helped she gave me this rude look before pointing at the clothing isle behind the two customers. Apparently, the spot we are suppose to wait at goes into the clothing isle, and isn't facing the lobby where people enter. This is really weird because A, its counter-intuitive, B, the social distance stickers aren't in clear view when you enter the store, and C since the line stretches into the clothing isle it makes social distancing much harder. While I waited in the isle, two people browsing clothes bumped into me. Who thought this was a good idea? The line should start from the register and move towards the front door, not into the clothing isle. I don't know why that blonde lady told me to "wait in line at the register" when I was already very clearly waiting in line and there was no need to tell me to move. Not to mention she was rude about it and gave me this mean look. In addition to that, when it was my turn in line there were a bunch of random clothes that didn't belong to me in the container that they said were my clothes. I told them that the clothes weren't mine, but they tried to argue with me that they were. I inspected it further and told them that the top clothes weren't mine, but everything else in the container was. Apparently they put someone else's clothes into my container by mistake. read more

Really could use some work in terms of customer service. When they were looking at the clothes I brought I noticed the following issues: 1. The sweater they were putting back got stuck on a hook. The sales assistant didn't look at it to make sure it was okay. 2. When putting back one of my coats, she didn't even fold it and just stuffed it back in the bag (this happened at other times I've been here). 3. My clothes fell on the ground a few times. There are other people's property until purchased. The sales assistants need to treat them with respect still until it's their "own" property. The following isn't really a customer service issue but for the 3 items they were interested in, they were offering $14--this was for a brand new with tag puffer coat from Gap, new with tag Zara sweater, and good condition Banana Republic jeans. read more

I bring all my gently worn clothes here and they have never taken anything that actually IS in style. Lots of my clothes still have tags on them from Nordstrom or Fashion Nova and they constantly say they aren't what they're looking for. I came here to sell some clothes and shoes. I had brand new stuff so was shocked they didn't offer me anything, but they are selective depending on the season. So if you're just wanting to make some extra cash, be mindful of that. They do have some awesome deals if you're looking for a bargain. When I came in they were doing a discount on certain merchandise for $1 I believe. Do not sell here. I took in items new with tags that were Nike, adidas, lulu lemon, and Steve Madden. Plus 2 bags of gently used clothing with brands I know they have bought from me before. Upon checking my clothes in, The girl at the front did not want to help me and complained that she needed water. She then proceeded to grab a drink of her coffee while another girl looked like she was going to take over. Instead of jumping in and helping me, she waited and asked the other girl if she was ready to help me. The coughing girl said no and then reluctantly the girl who I thought was going to jump in right away, rolled her eyes and walked to the counter to help me. (Seriously hope this wasn't a manager... so embarrassing). 5minutes after leaving I got a text that my order was completed and none of my items were chosen. "Here's a 20 percent off coupon off one item for bringing things into us." The employee forgot to even give me that. Their excuse was that they didn't take any of those brands. LOL. This place has gone to crap since I sold to them in high school. I am convinced that the staff didn't even go through my items because there is no way somebody could go through 50+ items in less than five mins. What a waste of time. Use poshmark or FB marketplace. What a joke!!! Not sure who is in charge here but this was the worst experience I have had in the 10+ years I've been selling to Plato's. I never write reviews but this place needs some work. I would actually give this place zero stars if I could. I came in with my 3 girls, eager to go thrifting. They were collecting quite the haul when (I'm guessing the manager) told me they didn't allow dogs. I have a small service animal who accompanies me everywhere. EVERYWHERE. he's trained for that. Unfortunately I didn't bring his little card with me so she told me we weren't welcome. I replied to her I needed to collect my girls and have them put back their items and she told me to pick up my 30 pound dog while I did it. I've never been treated so rudely at any store with my dog. Then I get on their Instagram and they have several rompers that look just like mine. While shopping the clothes are faded and terrible looking.
