I've been coming here for over 10 years. The prior owners moved back to their home country and the new owners are wonderful!! Very friendly. Joi did my most recent manicure and pedicure and what a great job he did. I brought my sister and niece from out of town and both were very pleased with the results. In looking for a new place to get my gel manicures, I scoured Yelp. Although this place had only 2 reviews, they were solid. I set out to find this place, and passed by it once because it is a little hidden around the side of a strip mall. But it is tucked right in the south west corner of Clarendon Hills Rd and 75th St. I actually called the day before to check that they had Sunday hours, and they did! The lady on the phone was SO nice! I got there and was greeted with the nicest smiles, and shown right to a manicure station after choosing my nail color. They got right to work. I'd say that it took about an hour. The place got packed right after I showed up, and they apologized many times for the multi-tasking, which I really didn't think they were neglecting me at all. They were slightly chit-chatty with me, and pleasant as they were working. There are TVs on in the background too- which was ok, but not really relaxing. Maybe some music would be nice. There were about 8 manicure stations, and 8 pedicure chairs, and they were all filled by the time I was going to the drying table. Much to my surprise- they also offered me a shoulder massage as my nails dried. Was a pretty robust shoulder massage. I would recommend it if you like that sort of thing. This will be my regular place from now on, I think. So many reasons to keep going. Thanks Famous Nails for the friendliness and great job on my gel nails!! I made reservations for 4 girls and I was so disappointed when the staff took other walk-in customers over us. With 4 of us sitting in the pedicure chairs waiting to get done, not one of the staff acknowledged us or even asked if we wanted to wait somewhere else (and not keep our feet in the water to get all pruny) while we waited.0 2 of the girls actually had to end up walking out and go somewhere else to get their nails done since we were on a time crunch. My daughters nails have been destroyed from getting a acrylic nail application at this establishment. We went back in to complain to the management and were treated rudely and had to prove that we even were there to have her nails done before. The damage is extensive and their solution was to give severely damaged nails a fresh manicure. We explained to them that the damage was too severe and needed time to heal and a manicure would not help. The manager finally put his guard down and offered to at least take the rest of the acrylic off of her nails. It was clear that they didn't feel any sympathy for the damage that was done but at least they offered to take the remaining acrylic off. No credit no refund! And absolutely no compassion! read more

I am not a regular customer. Poor selection of nail polish. The person who did my pedicure today was very inexperienced and hurt me while cleaning up my cuticles. I come home to find that my heels were not scraped properly. I could have done a better job at home. The nail polish I chose was dried out so she added acetone to it to thin it out. Did not go on smoothly. The manicurist was ok but seemed about when told that the nails were not filed properly. Prices are very reasonable. read more

I never even knew Famous Nails was here and is so close to home! I took my two year old with to reward potty training efforts and get us out of the house for a date. They had the kids chair and her feet could reach to get a real experience (she is a bit tall though) and they took their time knowing my pedicure would take longer so she didn't get antsy. They were so nice to my daughter and talked to her and let me relax while she enjoyed her time. This is my new go-to spot! How they treated my daughter is so valued. I've been to Famous Nails a few times before and never had a problem. That was a few years ago, but I didn't expect their standards to change that much between then and now. I wanted to get a manicure for engagement pictures on a Sunday. I decided on Famous Nails because while it's still a bit of a drive for me, it's a little closer than my usual place. Big mistake. The lady who greeted me was friendly, but the technician who did my manicure was the surliest person I came across that day. She wasn't rude and I wasn't expecting her to talk my ear off the whole time, but it wouldn't have killed her to at least smile a little. I don't think she said one thing to me the whole time I was there. It was also one of the speediest manicures I've had. I felt like she was competing against herself to see how quickly she could finish. In her haste, the process of pushing back my cuticles was uncomfortable and she managed to cut me while cutting my cuticles. Seeing blood during what should be a relaxing and painless experience was not at all comforting. She must have used half the bottle of polish on my nails because they took FOREVER to dry. I sat with my hands under the fans for a half hour, thinking that should be enough. A full hour and a half after my manicure, I smudged the polish on my thumbnail putting my seatbelt on. Luckily, I was able to push the polish back into place myself, but it was irritating. I don't think my nails completely dried for another hour after that. I don't regularly get manicures, so I'm no expert, but I've never smudged nail polish doing something as simple as putting my seatbelt on an hour and a half later. The only bright side is the manicure lasted awhile, smudged polish and all. Next time I need a manicure, I'll stick with my usual place. read more

I am officially in love. The staff there is so sweet. The manicurist was great and very patient with the fact that I kept falling asleep. The pedicurist was amazing. Great massage. She also dealt with how incredibly ticklish my feet are - only with the pumice for some reason. The staff stayed late because Im a jerk and work weird hours. I needed a fill and pedicure and came in an hour before closing time. Im not in love with the shape of my nails, but I think that has more to do with me poorly articulating my request than the manicurists technique. I also was given an AMAZING upper body massage while I sat at the dryer. Not quite sure how to rate my first-timer experience here. 1 star for reasonable prices. 2 stars for the good work. Called to make an appointment (even thou the window says walk-ins are ok) for a "regular" manicure & pedicure. The woman that did my pedi was obviously irritated that she had a customer. The water was scalding hot when I put my feet in but she quickly adjusted the temperature. She was a little gruff...& a little rough in the beginning. She kept looking at the clock (maybe her shift was supposed to be over). She got very irritated when she realized I had clear polish on. The pedi pros: like I mentioned earlier, she did good work. The leg & foot massage was longer than most places I've been to. When I made my appointment, I made it for a mani & pedi so I was surprised when she started leading me to the drying station after my pedi. When I said that I made an appointment for a mani too, this added more frustration. She said something to the manager (or owner I assume) & then led me to the mani station. Needless to say my mani was very quick & she couldn't have gotten me out the door sooner. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. I normally get a French pedicure too but I skipped it this time for fear of retaliation. Prices aren't bad, environment is comfortable. They have a large color selection, which is great, and they're always willing to work with you to make sure that you get what you want! My massage chair for the pedicure didn't work this time, which was a major bummer, but usually I have no complaints about them! It's nice that it isn't too loud in here, so you can still have a conversation, if you want. I got my nails done with Yoga-ta Get This Blue (dark blue), I Don't Give A Rotterdam (grey) with design, and I Can't Find My Czechbook (light blue). I love how they turned out!!! I love getting my nails done. I think it's great me time and a good way to have a little boost to your confidence. Famous nails is a good spot if you are going for a regular manicure and a regular pedicure. They do a good job on natural nails but if you're going to get long acrylics I suggest going somewhere else. When I got my first ever set of acrylics I got them short and they did a very nice job. When I started to get my nails long I noticed at that nail salon they were uneven, bumpy, and they hurt my fingers for a few weeks. read more

Anyone who reviews this place above a two needs to seriously reconsider where they do their grooming routines, because this place is DIRTY! It is dingy on the inside, and it is not clean, when I went in it looked like the floors hadn't been washed in weeks, and just everything in there looked like it hadn't been tended to in quite some time. Onto the manicure, I have never had a manicure hurt in my life, and I get one just about every week. The technician did not soak my cuticles at all before she started pulling at them, not even neatly clipping them. Needless to say I was sore afterwords, and had a couple small open wounds due to the harsh way, and no prep by the technician! Beyond that she did not use and sort of sander to sand, or shape my nails, she did a little filing, but nothing at all to make my nails look like I got a manicure. The color I had chosen was Allure by Essie, it is a pale off white, and when I go to my normal nail salon they do three coats without needing to be asked, as to insure the polish is not sheer; needless to say she only did two coats and didn't even think twice! I will say the price of the manicure was cheap, but I would have much rather paid a decent amount and gotten a decent manicure. I left Famous nails with sore hands, no shape, and what looked like to be a clear coat on my nails. I had an excellent experience at this Salon. First, my friend and I went in around 11am on a Saturday morning. We were serviced right away..absolutely no wait! I had a pedi & mani which cost $35 and to me that is average. BUT for the quality of service you receive, it's more than worth it. My tech was Jessica who I swear has to be a licensed massage therapist (just my opinion!, not confirmed). My foot massage was absolutely heavenly. The manicure was really nice as well. Lastly, while your nails dry, they give you a shoulder & back massage!! I can't wait to go back. Best experience ever at a nail salon. read more

However I was beyond disappointed 1st time I went nails started lifting after a couple of days so I gave them a second chance and this time they made them so thin they all started breaking and also were lifting! I've been to this location for manicures/pedicures quite a few times now. The women who work there are super friendly and accommodating. Tina does a great job. She takes her time and I never feel rushed. I appreciate that they have kept my appointment time every time I have come in. I tried this place on two separate occasions and both times I was disappointed my biggest issue with them is they're very dishonest they trick you into services and then over charge you afterwards. They also are not the friendliest either! They're shop is actually a downgrade compared to many others, polish selection is skimpy too, smh! As expensive as they are they should have top notch services! Never again will they get my business they suck for real beware! They're so horrible I wouldn't let them do my nails for free nope I'm good! I can't stand dishonest people! I was a customer there for years, took off acrylic nails and went someplace a friend of mine told me about the 'dip'. Went back to Famous Nails for pedicure. Was told they do the 'dip. Had going to Magic Nails which my girlfriend recommended, absolutely fabulous job and lasted 4-5 weeks. Went to Famous Nails again for a pedicure and was told they do the 'dip'. Had it done there believing as they've always been fabulous. Gave me a $10 discount. It lasted, well of right now. 11 days and 5 of them have broken off. Called to complain and no offer to repair or reimburse me. For all the years I went there, I've never been so disgusted with the way I have been treated for a LOUSY 'dip' with no apology or reimbursement. Never again. SO disappointed read more

I have been going to this salon for the last 10 years. Sometimes with an appointment, sometimes as a walk in. Today I had an appointment, but I was 5 minutes late. I was reprimanded for my tardiness. The man that did my pedicure shouldn't do another. This by far the worst pedicure I have ever received. I didn't realize until I got home and put socks on that there were jagged edges on my cuticles and my nails were not evenly shaped.
