My maltipoo puppy has been a client for approximately 6 months, I am guessing. Each time I take him and show a picture of what I am wanting, I get immediate pushback. The groomer, Katie always has a reason why I should not choose this cut. When I persist, the end result is not anywhere close to the picture. If she is unskilled and unable to produce the result, she should say so. I personally feel it's an unwillingness, as it would require more scissor work. One session absolutely butchered him, and he looked like a rat terrier. Bottom line: You do not get what you ask/pay for, you get whatever she decides. Life has changed for the better since finding Fancy Paws. I have always loved the look of a freshly groomed dog but until Fancy Paws I would only have Benny groomed when he got stinky. Not because of the cost but because of his dramatic crying and begging. Benny would start moaning blocks from the salon. Somehow he knew where we were going. When I parked, the moons would turn into screams. When entering the salon he would create a scene of jumping, crying and begging to be picked up and taken away. I always left feeling terribly guilty. Since finding Fancy Paws, . I happily hand him off without a whimper. When I pick Benny up, he looks gorgeous and happy. I am thrilled with his appearance and the reasonable price they charge. We left our dog at fancy paws for his usual haircut. Picked him up in the next hour and when he got home he ran and his and basically disappeared he wouldn't come out. Took him to the vet who examined him and said he had been strangled. Called fancy paws and Tara got aggressively defensive. Categorically denied anything could have happened. We were just trying to figure out what happened and she was clearly trying to cover her ass. We took our dog back to the vet because he wasn't getting any better. They confirmed their initial diagnosis. Tara never showed any concern never called to see how my dog was. My dog didn't eat or move or bark just shivered. Barely drink a little water went on for over a month. We all prayed over him. I prayed he would live. I thought he was gonna die . Finally well over a month into it he started to heal. Tara never offered any concern not once. She only cared about covering hers or her employees negligence. These are the reasons you couldn't pay me to go back into that chamber of horrors. read more

Stay away from this grooming salon! Injured my dog and didn't even say anything when I picked her up. I noticed a big cut on her neck a day later. Took her to the vet for wound treatment and antibiotics. I called the salon to complain, but the owner was very rude to me. I will never go back and recommend to stay away from that place. read more

I have been taking my two poodle mixes, Baby and Rusty, there for over 5 years and I have never had a complaint. They always look so nice and are so clean. I usually get them both back in about an hour as they have more than one groomer and can do them both at the same time. They make appointments and don't make the animals wait in cages for hours!! We have a Standard Schnauzer. He had not been groomed for 6 weeks. These people shaved his entire coat, including Schnauzer beard and left us with an animal that looks nothing like his breed. They said he had "matting" in his hair. They did not call to tell us ahead of time. To make matters worse, they charged $15.00 more than previously to shave a dog. I will stay far away from this business in the future and I advise others to do the same. read more

Have been taking my dog there to get groomed his entire life! (12 years) this Wednesday was no different. Upon my mother picking him up, his eyes were completely filled with blood and he was walking very gingerly/struggling to walk at all, obviously very scared, very out of character for how he normally acts when coming home from a visit from Tara. When calling to find out what happened, they simply said it was due to an ear infection. Working in Vet Med for almost 7 years, it was very obvious that this was not an ear infection, and that something traumatic (choked, hit, etc) had happened to him. Confirmed my his regular vet, and called again to try and get a true account of what happened and received no call back. Very disappointing situation. read more

I used this grooming service for years, and have had no problems with their grooming my OESD. But I will never return after this past week. We are in a serious pandemic, and Fancy Paws has initiated nothing to protect customers...no masks, no limit on people in small entry. I refused to enter, handed leash to Tara's son...did the same with pickup. Businesses that have no concern for my health...masks work...will never have my business. Dropped my vet of many years for the same reason. Lost family to this disease...so many ignorant people ignoring science. read more

Had read a couple of negative reviews prior to taking my 80# fluffy dog, Moose, for a grooming. I gave the groomer alot of latitude on how much to shave off of him since he had some matting in his coat. When I picked him up 90 minutes later, he looked fine...took more off him than I expected, but his coat was smooth, clean and uniformly even...nice job! Never go to get your pet groomed here. We went to Fancy Paws for approximately 4 years with no problem, however our last visit was devastating for our elderly dog Maya. I asked for the same cut and always reminded Austin when I checked in that she is elderly and hard of hearing and vision loss. They called early to say she was done and when I picked her up she was completely SHAVED!! She was a Shih Tzu and she was shaved all over down to the skin. There was a little hair on her tail and that was it. I called immediately when I got home to ask what had happened to our dog but received no call back. Our poor Maya was scared and shaking and cowering in the corner. She never did come out of it and we lost our girl. Had to put her to sleep within two weeks of being groomed there. We believe she was Mistreated and miss handled there. I found out who the groomer was and I wrote Tara the owner a letter. The groomer was her nephew Zachary and we have never heard one word back. The thought of the groomer mistreating our dog makes me literally sick. She came from a deplorable situation and we got her at a rescue when she was 12 years old and nursed her back to health. The thought of them doing something mean to our girl needs to be reported. So I am letting you know don't ever take your dog there!!! read more

I noticed someone complaining about fleas in a previous review, that's never happened to us and we've been going here for close to two years. Of course, we use flea medicine on our dogs, which you really should be doing anyway. read more

Been using groomers for years and upon moving to Lakewood Ranch I research many before deciding upon Fancy Paws. They are great!! You get an appointment and don't have to worry about your dog being their for hours in a cage. They abide by the appointment time and your dog is done and can be picked up fast and groomed well. Love Fancy Paws AND Tara. They always do a great job with our dog and the best part is it doesn't mean leaving her there for most of the day. They usually have her finished in an hour or so. They do a wonderful job with her and are always so kind when she comes in. She is really timid, but when we get ready to pick her up she has made new friends with the other pets that come in. I've been calling Fancy Paws for two days to try and make an appointment for my dog, but nobody ever answers the phone (and yes, they are open on weekdays when i am calling), and they haven't bothered to return the message I left for them more than 24 hours ago. What kind of place does business like this? Apparently they don't need my business or yours. The handling of the lost dog situation by this businesses was deplorable. The local rescuer which was not affiliated with their business should be reimbursed for the $200 fee. Also the business owner needs to show proof on how they have updated their business to prevent losing another dog. Until those steps are followed I would not recommend this business. read more

After getting groomed here our dog had fleas! In 12 years this was only the second time we've taken her to an actual groomer as my husband usually trims her. We thought it would be nice for her get professionally done. This was a mistake. It was my idea (thought I'd also give my husband a break as it is hard to trim her when we are travelling). I took my pug there and they weren't very educated on how to groom her. My pugs ears were still dirty and her nails were not cut evenly. I stated multiple times that she needed to get a double dry beacuse of her coat and when I got her back she was damp on her legs and underneath. It was basically a 40$ shampoo and go. read more

In regards to Tugger (the dog that ran out of this groomers door). I have also used Fancy Paws to groom my dog. She is a good groomer, HOWEVER, she totally mishandled this entire situation and still is. Tugger's whole family searched for him for 2 days. Drove the streets surrounding the area, walked the streets and wooded area for hours, spoke with residence in the area, put up flyers, etc. Not once did we see anyone searching for Tugger from Fancy Paws. I know a couple good hearted and concerned people and residents were helping to keep an eye for him and driving the area to help find him but again not from the groomers store. Tugger's family was the only ones out physically searching for hours day and night. Thank you again Chris (NOT from Fancy Paws) for spotting Tugger and asking the McCloud workers to catch him and offering them the reward if they got him. Once Tugger was safe at approx 2:30 pm on Fri we immediately tried to reach Fancy Paws. No answer and no return calls that day. The expenses have added up in the search and rescue for Tugger (gas, lost wages, grooming, reward, etc). The least Fancy Paws can do is make this right and reimburse the expenses for their mistake. Plus take measures to make sure this does not happen again. read more
