We've lived on the Peniinsula 45 years and have eaten at many of the fine restaurants, but Fandango is our absolute favorite. The decor is festive and charming. The various rooms are warm and cozy. The service is attentive and hospitable. As to the food, we find many items on the menu that we enjoy. The onion soup is a la francais as we like it. Although we only drink an occasional glass of wine, I order a wonderful California. cabernet that I cannot find at retail. The lobster and haricot vert were nicely prepared and presented. Little touches like the dark olives and warm bread were welcome additions. And we loved the creme caramel and cafe Liegeiose for our desserts. We are looking forward to our next visit to Fandango. read more

We chose this restaurant because it had a good rating and enough reviews. It presents itself as somewhat pretentious. Inside, the atmosphere and coziness look nice. The service itself is organized well. But for this kind of pretentious presentation, the plates and silverware were not polished, with residue from dried water. I ordered duck medium-well, they brought it medium rare. The manager clearly noticed my surprise and offered to cook it more. I think that was a bad idea. The duck tasted as if it had been reheated on the second day. On top of that, it was completely drowned in a sauce that ruined the flavor. The side dish was obviously frozen, packaged vegetables and mashed potatoes with cheese. All of this together created a horrible composition. And even separately, everything tasted bad. My wife simply refused to say or write anything about the osso buco she ordered. What I liked: the bread was good, the olives were good, the orange in the duck they still managed to ruin. The service was good and friendly. What I didn't like: unpolished silverware with hard-water marks. Bottled beer only. I would fire the person who created the menu. The duck was simply terrible both individually and overall. And to the one who cooked it, I would suggest making burritos -- that would probably turn out better. Overall, good marketing, a pretty wrapper, and bad content. They spent money on marketing but didn't have enough left for a good chef and a kitchen team. After that, we went to the brewery next door and had an excellent pizza from a real Italian oven, with good -- not bottled -- beer. All at a price three times cheaper. read more

Excellent service and wonderful tasting food. The restaurant is very unique - looks like an old house. Inside was clean and the spacing between tables provided ample room for my wife and I. We celebrated our 31st anniversary. They made up the table quickly with streamers and close to the fireplace. We ordered the clam chowder and French onion soup. Both came out piping hot and were very tasty. They also gave us a basket of bread and butter and a small plate of kalamata olives. I had the NY steak and my wife had the Capri chicken. The steak was cooked on a fire grill in the middle of the restaurant. It came out perfectly cooked medium rare, with veggies. The chicken was also very tasty. They surprised us with a complementary desert. Total = $148 (including tip). This place is a bit pricy but certainly worth visiting at least once. read more

Delicious food, great service, perfect quaint ambiance! We got the goat cheese salad and Caesar salad to start. Our server was so skilled and remembering the specials and wine list! It was so impressive! For our entree's, we got short ribs with potatoes al gratin and the scallop special. I didn't want to pasta that came with the dish but the server recommended the saffron rice and veggies as a replacement. It still went perfectly. For dessert...we couldn't resist the crème brûlée. We came here for my sister's 60th birthday. The service was wonderful and they celebrated the bday with streamers on the table. We did bring our own sparkling wine (corkage fee $45). The tapas were delicious, the escargot brought us back to Paris, the sand dabs were ok, the goat cheese salad was wonderful!!! We ended the night with the best dessert. My Duck La Orange was perfect but my wife's Chicken Capri was so overcooked it was inedible tough. Service was extremely poor, we waited nearly an hour for our dinner to arrive, and once it arrived, the waiter not wants checked on us. We had wanted to return the chicken, but we're unable to do so. After notifying the waiter when he brought our bill we were brought to desserts which we turned down. Apparently, that was to make up for the meal that my wife was not able to eat. This is always been a place that we've enjoyed going to in the past, but this will be our very definite last time there and all of our friends will know of the way we were treated. read more

So pleasant for a large older restaurant with a huge fireplace, wood- beamed callings, white tableclothes. We were quickly greeted by our server Pedro who answered questions and shared the specials. He was attentive but not obtrusive throughout the evening. My husband's filet was prepared to perfection. My NY was overcooked but was immediately taken to be replaced. The host/maitre d' checked on us as well. Desserts were delicious - lemon cheesecake with raspberries NY style and Gran Marnier soufle - and beautifully presented. And especially odd since Italian food is often small portions and it's expected you have several courses. And the server kinda pressed us if we wanted appetizers so I was a bit concerned if just a main course would be enough but it was more than enough! The service was the big let-down. At a place that charges up to $98 for an entrée we should not have to ask for the drinks/wine menu and wait quite a while so we could get some water. The resturant was very spacious and even had party rooms for big groups which is so nice to know since most do not have in area. We loved the food from the pesto appetizer and the soufflé. Unfortunately, this place seems to be going downhill. And, despite being a customer for about 20 years, I think we'll be looking elsewhere from now on. It's not an awful place or anything, just insipid and uninspired. They seem to have no passion or interest for what they're doing. In my latest visit, I got an underseasoned steak, 2 mediocre SMALL lobster tails, a spoonful of tired green beans, and an ice-cream scoop from a scalloped potato casserole. It was hard not to think I could do better at home. Seriously, when is the last time you've been to a $120+ per person "fine dining experience" (that wasn't prix fixe) where do you didn't get ANY options for your vegetable or starch?! Also, basic menu items were unavailable (from the start of dinner service). Pretty pathetic all around. Ambiance is more appealing to the eye than the actual experience. I don't know whose dad is controlling the thermostat, but he needs to be shoved out the back door and the heat turned up. Many people were wearing their coats while dining, since it was so cold...especially for some of us sitting next to the "cute", old, SINGLE PANE windows on a cold night. We had reservations so we just went straight in. Our party was of seven people, so we were seated at a table for eight. The place was nicely decorated, low lights to provide the ambiance for dates probably... The food was excellent. I had the calamari steak and it was really good! It was my first time to have it, so it was surprisingly different...I was expecting calamari rings, but this was nothing like that at all! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was always around to see to our group. And no matter how many tables he saw to, he was never out of reach for refills or questions. And his knowledge of the menu was above board! The price was in the middle ranges. But with the quality and the taste, it was well worth the price! I'm met friends here for dinner and this was the first time for all of us. This spot is utterly charming! We were greeted warmly, and Pedro took good care of us throughout the evening. His service was efficient and excellent. We started with salads, and the Beet Salad with goat cheese was very tasty and big enough to be a meal! The Sand Dab entree was delicious and generous. It was just as good the next day. We finished off the meal with profiteroles filled with coffee ice cream. We will be sure to do this again next time we are in town! read more

Meh is the best word I can use. Six of us went. Nothing was great and nothing was terrible. The problem arises with the cost to eat out now. If I'm going to pay $100 a person (everything included) I'm going to want something great. Sorry restaurants, but if it's going to cost me double what it did three years ago, you're going to have to up your game. You could have made my average-at-best Cassoulet above average. We came here for New Year's Eve Dinner. It was a Fixed menu with lots of entrees to choose from. Service was wonderful. They're always checking on you. The price per person is $125. Pretty steep and only worth it if you're going to order seafood and steak. Since I'm allergic to shellfish, my options were pretty limited. For appetizer, we had the option between cream of tomato soup or the prawn cocktail. The prawns were huge! The soup was not creamy. For salad, we had the option between Caesar or spinach mimosa. Nothing exciting. For entrees, my son and husband ordered the filet Mignon with two lobster tails (totally worth the $125 each). My daughter ordered the prime rib and I ordered the salmon. For dessert, they ran out of soufflé glacé for us so we ended up with profiteroles and chocolate mousse. Overall the food was decent. If we ordered this off the menu, I don't think we would've spent anything close to $500 when with cocktails. But it's the holidays and I hope the staff was paid well to work on NYE. I inhaled it! 2) Spinach mimosa - This was just a salad but I loved the bacon bits on top and the dressing was yummy. 3) Filet mignon & double lobster tail - The filet mignon was cooked medium rare, just the way I like it! The meat was tender but I thought it could use more salt. Surprisingly, the lobster tail was okay. The mashed potatoes were my favorite and the green beans had a garlicky buttery flavor to it, which I loved! 4) Soufflé glacé - The ice cream was so good! Window table on a rainy night close to the fire was nice. Streamers on the table helped to celebrate our anniversary. Our server, Carlos, was attentive without making us feel rushed. Very descriptive of the specials helped my wife choose the Dover sole fileted table side. I ordered the famous paella. Calamari as a starter got the ball rolling. 4 strips of thick calamari seasoned perfectly. The sole came as a whole fish that Carlos deboned expertly. Had 4 nice pieces accompanied by scalloped potatoes and carrots all served hot and delicious. Sole was the best ever. Moist with a squeeze of lemon, delicious. Of course the paella came to the table steaming and in the skillet it was cooked in. Plentiful shrimp, chicken, calamari, mussels, scallops and more. Nothing was overcooked, individual flavors were evident. It was great and there was so much I had some to take home. We topped it off with a soufflé (ordered earlier) that was so light and delicious.
