    amaebi / sweet shrimp sushi
    Vicky N.

Came here for my anniversary! Had a reservation but the place was undeservedly empty. It's a smaller restaurant on the corner of the street and we found street parking. The tables are intimate, and lighting is natural. Being by the ocean makes it a perfect place for a date! We took a look at the menu and ordered the sashimi deluxe and toro sushi. Our server let us know that they had oysters (kumamoto) fresh, so we ended up ordering that along with amaebi sushi later on. The first thing that came out was the oysters. It was half a dozen for almost $30, but sadly we did not enjoy it due to the soy sauce drenching it. It was way too salty so we had to pour the soy sauce out and squeeze these two thin lemon slices. The sushi deluxe was amazing, melt-in-your-mouth, tender, buttery, everything you could ask for in sashimi! My personal favorites were the tuna, scallop, and halibut. It's a great platter to share with another. The toro sushi was soft and not fishy at all! It wasn't too fatty which I prefer. The amaebi was slimy similar to cuttlefish, so it was a little strange. The fried shrimp head was fantastic though, like a little chip at the end. They also gave us mochi for our anniversary which was really nice! In conclusion, please give this place a try if you love fresh sashimi (and maybe skip the oysters)! Service was good and food was better! I'd love to come back(:

This place has easily turned into one of my go-to sushi spots in the South Bay. They consistently have high quality, fresh fish. Also have amazing nightly specials and a lovely happy hour menu.

Very cute place in Manhattan Beach. Ambiance is intimate and cozy. Food is delicious and came out so fast!!! The staff were very friendly and constantly checking in with us/filling up our waters There's easy parking in a garage right across the street on the corner of rosencraz and highland.

This place is great, the service is great, the food is good, and the setting is very cute. It's like a Japanese beach shack off Manhattan beach :) Went around 3PM on Saturday and it wasn't busy so my family had a cute experience. They have a great set menu option with dine LA as well as a good variety of sushi, rolls, hot food, and other appetizers. Would recommend checking out with a group size 2-4!

Love that FanSea Sushi is located on the north side of Manhattan Beach because it is directly across from a parking lot and it is not quite as busy as near the pier. It was not too busy on a Sunday evening. Their menu and pricing were reasonable. The scallop was good. Fish seemed fresh. Service was good. Overall, a nice sushi place in the area.

My favorite little corner of heaven. I love when I have an early day and can catch their happy hour. Nestled on the corner. With a back wall of windows, it's the perfect place to sunbathe and enjoy the sea, by the sea! I ordered the Ceviche, a Spicy Salmon Handroll, and Salmon & Albacore Sushi. Always fresh, buttery. Quick service and you can't beat the price. I always leave full and content.

Love their specials! I'm glad they have more customers now 2024. Ambiance is nice; interior is clean/woody with beach view. Servers could practice the menu a bit more.

Late lunch for the hungry guy. I had lunch at 1pm so I'm wine-ing instead.

Pre-school snacks were Wheat Thins and tomato juice or a snack package of nori or cuttlefish. Thank you Cheryl for introducing me to Japanese food - it was a brilliant distraction to the news of the day. I remember sitting still on the swings as the numerous aftershocks rattled the city and we held onto our little packages and crunched away. That was a time where Japanese meals meant special trips to downtown L.A. and where I learned to love sushi, sashimi, ginger and real wasabi. These days we can find sushi on almost every corner. Sakura (within walking distance) and Sushi Sei (a short drive) were my favorite spots to belly up to the bar and enjoy sake and sushi while chatting up the chefs who got a kick out of our limited knowledge of the language: Hajimemashite was how we'd start the meal and maybe 30 minutes in we were buying the sushi chefs Sapporo or sake shots and just like that we had friends in the business. He wanted sushi, I wasn't hungry but I agreed to drive so he could enjoy sake and sushi and my company. We were headed to a completely different sushi joint but my head was on auto pilot and ended up parking about 2 miles away and I wasn't about to make the walk. Across from the parking structure was a little place neither one of us knew and a quick Yelp search and wholly Kanpai! 5 star rated Fansea Sushi is now a favorite and at the top of our sushi list. Quaint and bright and all the comforts of a terrific sushi joint. Service was superb and as the evening progressed the little multi-level restaurant was filling fast. He loved every bite and I'm glad because when he ordered 2 of everything and seaweed salad I was worried he would be too full. Not even close - he went on to order the Yuzu Cheesecake for dessert - Deeeeelicous! He boasted "everything was fresh, beautifully presented and super tasty" so now I can't wait to visit again to experience the same. We ended up enjoying a bottle of wine (instead of sake) - the only change I'd make is next time I'd ask for an ice bucket to keep the Chardonnay chilled and maybe ice for the water. This place rocks and it won't be long before our next visit. "Sea" you soon Fansea.

Two Avocado Roll, Seaweed Salad, Gyoza

I ordered from a delivery service, so I can't answer for the ambiance. We ordered seaweed salad, eel roll, two avocado hand rolls, sushi rice and gyoza. The food was ok, nothing amazing, nothing really stood out. The portions were kind of small but again - pretty average all around. Maybe in person it could be better?

Delicious and high quality place. Had the following: Ceviche - Great opener that lets you know the kind of fish this place serves. Only complaint would be to add one or two more chips to the dish. Spicy Salmon Hand Roll - Places often add spicy fish to the menu to mask old fish. This is not the case here. Each piece of fish was intact in chunks and tasted fresh. They combined spicy mayo, rice and fresh cucumber. A++. Salmon Skin Hand Roll - I expected a throw away item. I was pleasantly surprised. They took multiple layers of fried salmon skin and combined them for a crunchy tasty treat. Similar to the Spicy Hand Roll they used rice and fresh veggies. Grilled Salmon Entrée (Miso + Salad) - Miso was satisfying. Good size tofu. The salad used a sesame sauce with citric flavor. This is a welcomed change to the same basic sesame sauce all Japanese places tend to use. The grilled salmon was cooked well. Chirashi - Quality fish and correct ratio of rice. There is no filler with this dish(i.e. no egg). Each piece of fish tasted buttery. Yuzu Cheesecake - has a subtle yuzu flavor that can be overwhelmed by the sushi. Be sure have some ginger before you start in on the cheese cake. It was just the right level of sweetness and balanced well with the creaminess of the cheesecake. The crust is not the basic crust you find on a cheesecake. I would order it again.

This place is a great spot for hosting dinner parties! It's located on the rooftop of the AC Hotel…read morein El Segundo, and the views definitely add to the experience. We came here to celebrate my cousin's graduation after she became a doctor, and it was the perfect place for a special occasion. The food was delicious, rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The drinks were great too! I enjoyed the wine and champagne, which were smooth and not overly strong. A special shoutout to our server, Daniel, who did an amazing job taking care of our group. He was attentive, friendly, and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. One thing to keep in mind: it can get pretty windy up there since you're close to the airport, so bring a light jacket or dress accordingly. Thankfully, they have fire pits and heat lamps that help keep everyone warm and comfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful time and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu. Thank you for a great experience!

Stopped here tonight before dinner. I was here before a couple of years back, it was a non-issue…read more Tonight's experience was a total disappointment, much need for someone in leadership to improve. Ambiance is nicely decorated, it's part of the hotel, so just walk right in, pass the lobby, take the elevator to the 6th floor and you are there. Parking is free and plenty of it outside, do not feel the need to pay. Service: Horrible, I would give her a zero if I could. We had the woman server, reddish hair, one who I thought would be seasoned. Oder took her about 8 minutes, she then walk away and not said why. It was apparent that there was an issue with the table. Drinks took about another 12 mins to arrive and when they did it would have been great if she had spilled them. Drinks were horrible. My rum and coke was served flat and warm. Ice was dirty, seemed like no preventative maintenance takes place. No napkins were served, and at no time did she stop by to check in on us. Bartenders... not presentable at all. I didn't know what I was looking at. There was no way for me to tell if he was a bartender, or anyone else making the drinks. He seemed hot and sweaty, completely off, and wearing some sort of white T-Shirt., again, you couldn't event tell that it was a bartender making that drink, the entire experience was horrible. The drinks were so bad that we took 2 sips and said it's time to go. Waitress came by, we checked out and she just stood there waiting for a tip. We felt forced to tip her, when in reality I wanted to say, please quit your job. Folks, if you are looking for a nice classy drink, or something made right, do your self a favor and go elsewhere. if you are staying there, either go to the lobby bar, or better yet, skip out and head to Manhattan beach. No one should pay over $50.00 for poorly made drinks, served on a dirty glass, warm and with less than mediocre service.
