When I lived in St Pete I went to my usual fish store to get my saltwater for my tanks. (I have two…read moresaltwater fish tanks that I've been very successful with.) Before I moved to fort myers I got saltwater from my usual pet store to use when I got down here. Tanks were reset back up. Everything looked great and thriving and happy. I do my water changes regularly for these tanks to maintain the happy environment for my corals and fish. I recently went to Boardroom Aquatics to get my saltwater on 7/19/2024. I did my normal water change as I regularly do. The following day I noticed my octospawn, anemones, and mushroom were all acting weird. I started to do my water tests to see if any of my levels were high to resolve the issue. All tests came back excellent and no levels spiked to cause my corals to start acting weird. The last thing was for me to check the salinity of the saltwater that I just put into the tank. I checked the salinity of my tank and it was WAY too high. The salinity of my tanks sit at 1.024-1.026, the test results were sitting at 1.031. It may not seem like a drastic difference, but it is. I tested the saltwater that they sold me and it was sitting at 1.030 when they GUARANTEED that their salinity sits at 1.024 (hence why I went there). I called Boardroom Aquatics and informed them that the water they sold me was high in salinity and caused my corals to melt away and die. Once again I was told they keep their salinity at 1.024 and that I was doing the test wrong and getting false readings. They informed me to bring in a water sample into the store for them to test. So I did. ‍ MARK started doing his test that I had done prior and got the SAME results as I did INCLUDING the high salinity level. He kept telling me that he was at a loss cause he doesn't know what was going on in my tank to figure out why my corals have died. He told me there was room for human error, when I did the same I've always done when doing water changes and NEVER had any casualties. After going back and forth with the man, I walked out cause I just lost over $700 worth of corals in ONE tank. Mark was talking at me and not to me, he wasn't willing to accept that HIS business had made a mistake and wasn't willing to do anything to make it right. He kept trying to push the issue back onto me, when my boyfriends a marine biologist and has told me what to do when it comes to the tanks to make sure they stay happy and healthy. My boyfriends also had MANY saltwater tanks and has even had a saltwater fish business. The level on unprofessionalism that happened today was not cute, cool, or even remotely acceptable. No accountably on his end what's so ever. Needless to say, I will never step into that store again. I will never recommend that establishment nor will I ever give them a penny. If you know anything about saltwater tanks; corals, fish, invertebrates are NOT cheap. The two anemones that melted and died due to this equal $600. Not to mention the other corals that I've lost. Now I'm determined to explore this brand-new store known for farm supplies like trailers, fencing, gates and livestock supplies and more, livestock feed, pet food, garden supplies and lawn care equipment. My primary interest of explore the possibility of a chicken coop, chicks and feed. They have two chicken coops on display by the right front entrance. I did not see any chicks available. Wife reminded me that chicken coop is not permitted with our community HOA. So, we walked past the dog, cat food, and other feed straight to the Garden Center. By the way, the Pet Wash room is very clean and charged less than $10 for usage. A very help tips was posted for a successful pet wash! They have some fences, tractors, and farming equipment. There are many plants available, but Lowes and Home Depot have a better stocks and large selections. Give them time to beef up their stock and work out the delivery from vendors! Wow, several paddle boats were on display! The place is clean and staff is helpful but we did not purchase any plants or potting soil or fertilizers today. Maybe on our next visit!

I was greeted by two lovely people, the owner and a new sales associate who took the time to go around and show me all the products they carried as well as ask about my Yorkies diet and health etc. They shared their personal experiences about "why" you may or may not want to feed your pet certain foods and also was happy to see the nutritional supplements with only the best ingredients for my pup available as well. 5 STARS to this store. Contrary to the other 1 star reviews, animals get and spread covid and other human pathogens, people still have not learned to be aware of their own personal hygiene, much less how dirty their pets are living on the ground 24/7 which is utter ignorance. Also if most non essential stores were closed during covid, are these really valid complaints? The store is charming, the staff are extremely knowledgeable about pet nutrition and frankly I brought my dog inside in a stroller because if pet stores, vets and kennels are loaded with pathogens so is any place people bring their pets and think they should run free and swap cooties.
