I recently moved from a high-rise in downtown Dallas and hired Fantastic Moves for the job. Due to the complicated nature of the move and distance between my apartment to the moving truck, I was concerned about the movers being able to manage within the allotted time. However, the crew (Drew, Sylvester and Bradley) were extremely efficient and was able to move me with no problems. They took extra care with my king size bed and mirrored furniture, making sure those items were well-protected. Once they moved me into my new home, they made sure my furniture was placed exactly where I wanted, boxes stacked neatly and all packing materials removed promptly. The guys were professional, courteous and most importantly, efficient. From the first encounter with Russell Guffey, who reserved the move, to the last encounter with Drew and the team, I have nothing but high praise for this company. Fantastic Moves poorly packed our $3,200+ 65-inch Sony Bravia A90 TV for our recent move from Dallas to Austin, TX. On seven previous moves over a span of 36 years, never was our TV so flimsily packed. Past movers built a wooden crate to fit the TV, with abundant packing around the TV inside. Not so in this case. When movers unpacked our TV in Austin, there was a large, long crack in the screen and the TV wouldn't work. I took it to Bond's TV Service in Austin and they determined that the TV could not be fixed. A replacement panel for it was no longer available. I spoke Nick at Fantastic Moves about the loss and he indicated that their insurance would pay us 35 cents/pound, which translated to about $27. How ridiculous! He agreed to speak with the owner of the company about my request that they provide a more fair adjustment for our loss, but no action was taken. Silence was their response. We had Fantastic Moves put our things in storage in Austin for about three weeks while we bought and closed on a house purchase. We then hired Unicorn Movers to bring our goods from storage to our house. So Nick immediately blamed the local Austin movers for our loss, refusing to take any responsibility. So, picture this: the night after the movers left, I'm just trying to get everything ready for my mother-in-law's visit. I start a load of laundry, feeling all settled in my new home--only to be greeted by a FLOODED laundry room and water seeping into the kitchen like a scene from a disaster movie! I spoke with Nick, who promised a crew member would come check it out. Spoiler alert: that visit never happened. Instead, a driver finally showed up a day later--well after the promised time--and casually informed me that my washing machine wasn't "properly locked during transport." Wait, what? I didn't even know that was a thing! My wife and I were both left scratching our heads when we were told the locks in question didn't even apply to our top-loading machine. We had such a great experience with Fantastic Moves. I needed to find a company willing to move my parents from Tyler to Fort Worth. Jane explained everything before they got there, so we felt like we were able to know what to expect and prepare. We were concerned if they could get it all in one truck and they thought they could. Louis and his team packed an incredibly efficient truck. They packed on one day and drove to Fort Worth the next day and unpacked. Tl;dr: BUYER BEWARE -- Fantastic Moves was anything but fantastic!!! I would never recommend them to anyone and would warn you to steer clear. They are liars, thieves and downright awful and will do anything they can to milk you for money. They also damaged nearly EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF FURNITURE we own. STEER CLEAR OR THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND. Moved from Chicago to Plano in a 16-foot truck and hired Fantastic Moves to unload the truck. They sent 2 guys who spent about 4 hours tirelessly unloading boxes and reassembling furniture in the scorching heat. Very professional and more-or-less did a good job (although they were a bit slow). Was overall pretty happy with the two guys that unloaded the truck so nearly 2 years later, when moving from Plano to California, it was only natural that we hired Fantastic Moves again to load the moving truck. Again we rented a 16-foot moving truck because we were leaving the area with almost the same exact household items we moved to Texas with (minus an entire bedroom set). Two movers showed up, one a grown man and another a high school kid. They assessed the apartment and on at least 4 occasions assured us that we had MORE THAN ENOUGH ROOM in the 16-foot truck to pack everything. They told me it would probably take 3 hours (instead of the quoted 2 hours) but that they'd get the job done without a problem. I told them to pack the boxes in the front of the truck first and the furniture at the end so that IF we ran out of room, we could just leave behind furniture instead of having to leave behind boxes. The movers reassured me another time that everything would fit and I should stop worrying. Direct quote from the older of the two movers: "I am VERY positive this will all fit." Four hours later, the older of the two movers told me that unfortunately we were going to have make some decisions about what to leave behind because it was obvious there wasn't enough room for all our belongings. Unfortunately, the truck was NOT packed tightly AT ALL. And it was 105 degrees outside (mid-June in North Texas). I called the company to speak with the owner/manager and see if they could send another person to the job to help repack the truck properly. I explained that the two guys on the job had walked the property, confirmed a 16-foot moving truck would work, but that we were left with TWO ROOMS worth of furniture and boxes because of a poor packing job. The owner/manager was rude and condescending. He told me "all my other guys are on another job right not, the same job I was going to send your movers to after they finished because that job already has EIGHT guys on it and is much bigger than your move..." He then told me that the movers at my house were his "best guys". After a few phone calls back and forth, the owner/manager agreed that if I could find a bigger truck (at 5pm on a Wednesday in North Texas) he would have his guys stay at the house and reload it. So, my parents drove ALL THE WAY TO MCKINNEY AND BACK to rent the only truck bigger than 16 feet that we could find from ANOTHER COMPANY. In the end, Fantastic Moves charged me an extra $1200 to unload the 16-foot truck and reload the 26-foot truck (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE AND THEY APPROVED THE 16-FOOT TRUCK). I also had to pay an extra $400 for the first 16-foot truck I rented and then returned 6 days early. And because I had to switch from a 16-foot Budget truck to a 26-foot Penske truck last minute, I actually had to LEAVE MY SECOND CAR IN TEXAS because the larger truck was not able to tow a vehicle. And when they reloaded the 26-foot truck, they literally threw things in haphazardly to get the job done as quickly as possible so as we drove across the country, the load kept shifting because it was so poorly packed. I still tipped each guy $100 each because they really did work like animals in 105 degree weather because they were clearly inexperienced and didn't care about customer satisfaction in any way. They were THE WORST MOVERS EVER and basically cost me nearly $5000 in damages and excess costs in rental equipment and getting rid of my second vehicle unexpectedly. I've been through several moves in my life, and had some disappointing experiences, so I went with these guys because they are a little more expensive, and I figured I'd get better service. Wrong!!! These guys were terrible. Most of the movers seemed like stoned teenagers. They scratched, damaged, or broke more of my stuff than any other moving company I've ever used, and they badly banged up my walls while doing it. The compensation they'll give you when you file a damage claim is laughably small. When I asked why they don't pay a fair and reasonable amount for the damage, they told me I should have bought more insurance. Now keep in mind, this isn't insurance against fire, flood, or acts of God; they want you to pay them for insurance against the damage that their moron movers cause themselves. This company was highly recommended by a long time friend in the business and he was 100% correct. They could not possibly have been better. Answered all advance questions promptly and did everything exceedingly well. The day of the move they were prompt with strong, energetic men, and they were fast and smart. Price and service was excellent. Tip- have Ikea dimpa plastic bags ($4?) on hand for last minute items that don't have a box. Buy a bunch in advance as backup and return what you don't need. I have decided to put the last straw for this complaint first. After the move, Fantastic Movers called me to see how the experience went. When I told him I was not happy, he said he had fired one of the employees and that he was very sorry. He evidently didn't tell the owner that there was a problem. She emailed me asking me to review the company, and I told her I was VERY upset. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECEIVED A RESPONSE. That was two weeks ago and THAT is why I write this review. I had problems with Fantastic Movers from the first phone call. I didn't realize at the time all the things they SHOULD have asked me. Antiques? grandfather clock? oversized items? pictures? etc., which they did NOT ask about. I called twice more with questions about wardrobe boxes and picture frames, feeling at a loss as I was packing. They said they would bring both wardrobe boxes and frame boxes. I asked what to do with things that didn't fit in the big boxes I had. The person at Fantastic Movers seemed unconcerned about those, so I assumed that the movers would know how to handle them. The movers arrived 2-3 hours late, at 3 in the afternoon. They drove from Dallas to my house 250 miles away which is normally a 4 1/2 - 6 hour trip. I asked that they leave early (7 am) so that they would have enough daylight. The person said they would, but that they would definitely finish loading that same day even if it was dark. They arrived without wardrobe boxes thus balled all my clothing into plastic. They complained they weren't told about the grandfather clock or the antique china cabinet, but they'd make do. They transported my grandfather clock WITH the pendulum on it because the mover said it had been attached "permanently" by the last mover. That turned out NOT to be the case. They said they couldn't load all my stuff because of the irregular shape of things not boxed. So - I had to leave all my outdoor and garden things. They didn't finish loading until 10pm, but told me they would meet me at my Dallas house at 10:30 the next morning. I should call him when I left my old house so he would be sure to meet me. They didn't show up until 3pm, although I called them several times to no avail. During unloading, they lost control of more than one piece of my heavy furniture. It all slid down the ramp in the rain dragging the mover behind, almost crashing into the street. One mover incredulously switched the hot and cold on the washer when he hooked it up. Later, I had to pay a handyman to come out, and figure out that that was actually the case. At the same time, the handyman had to hook up the dryer vent hose after I had to buy another one because the movers left mine at the old house. As they finished up, they tried to tell me they couldn't unload, and put things in my back shed because it was dark! I found them a flashlight. Later, as I unpacked, I found broken items and dings on several walls and on my furniture. It wasn't just one mistake. It wasn't just one person. It was the whole company that was totally inefficient, careless, unknowledgeable and irresponsible. I never got a response. The least they could have done was offer to pay for my handyman, the vent tubing, AND buy me a nice dinner. read more

I saw the Fantastic Moves truck on the way to work one day and hoped that when we moved in a few months, I would remember the name. Thankfully, its hard to forget. Once we signed the lease for our new home, I gave Fantastic Moves a call after visiting their website for a quote. I was immediately impressed that they were members of the North Texas GLBT Chamber of Commerce and were involved with supporting numerous local charities. After a few minutes of talking to Parrish, I reserved our move date & time (even though we were still a month away, I like to plan early) without even calling another company. My last move a year prior with another company didn't go so great but I had a gut feeling. The day before the move, they called again to verify. On move day, Tom & Quinten (I believe, I'm bad with names) showed up a minute before their scheduled arrive time. Talk about prompt! As we walked through the house going over everything, I apologized that we weren't 100% ready for them because our lives are quite hectic. They assured me that it was okay and even offered to help. Immediately they began to move our stuff to the truck, taking caution of walls, doors, and trim, and wrapped every piece of furniture. Since our sectional set, tv, and bed were all just a few months old, this made me feel very safe. Once the truck was loaded, we walked back though to make sure everything was okay. They even took an older 5'x5' projection TV off my hands that I was going to try to sell on Craigslist. So happy I didn't have to deal with that! Upon arrival at the new house, they rolled out paper to protect the newly finished wood floors and again, made sure to protect walls and doors. Once everything was unloaded where we asked for it , unwrapped, and the truck was 100% empty, they offered to help move anything around. The entire time they were in our homes they were professional, friendly, helpful, and even funny at times. I was even shocked when they asked for permission to take a 5 minute break and then deducted that time from the final bill. Before and after the move, they went over any and all charges, gave an honest estimate of time they felt was needed (Only 15 minutes over their estimated time), and explained the bill to my satisfaction. NOTE: After the first hour, they bill in 15 minute increments which is awesome!) I couldn't have asked for a better moving service and I have already been bragging about Fantastic Moves on my FB page and to our regular patrons. Should we move again, FM will be the only place I call. Thank you for an AWESOME move, GREAT rates, and a FANTASTIC crew! DETAILS: Local Move (2 miles) in Oak Cliff with 2 person crew and large truck. If you are looking for a cheap move with day labor that doesn't care about your belongings, this is not the company for you. This company takes their time to ensure YOUR valuables are moved safe & unharmed. It was twice as much as my last move but everything was moved safely and I do not regret for a minute hiring EXPERIENCED movers who took care of our belongings. You get what you pay for with cheap movers. Pay a little more, get a much better experience and avoid disputing the actual cost vs. quoted cost (like I did with the last move) and also avoid trying to get ABC Day Labor company to pay for the stuff they broke/scratched/dropped/etc. because they DIDN'T wrap your stuff or even care about its condition when moved.) read more

Fantastic Moves? Fantastic? No, these people need to be called Awesome Moves. Or Incredible Moves. Maybe even Stupendous Moves. Moving is stressful. Moving is messy. Moving is full of unexpected events. But everyone from the owners to the kitchen packer, from the move coordinator to the crew supervisor goes out of their way to minimize the stress, tidy up the mess and steer you around unplanned events. I moved from Dallas to Atlanta with these folks and I will not soon forget the many ways they swooped in to save the day. You can count on all of the normal things you'd expect any moving company to do will be done exceptionally well by this team. What you may find, as I did, were all the above-and-beyond-the-call things they do seemingly effortlessly that will have you singing their praises. After I finish this review, I am going to email them and let them know they can use me as a reference, in fact. I chose them over a big van line type mover because: 1) they kept all of my belongings in the very same trucks onto which they were loaded from point A to point B 2) their price was competitive even after adding in the extra truck and driver expense (so, maybe *your* move will be even cheaper) 3) they support the LGBT Chamber of Commerce Give them a fair shot to quote your next move. I had a really good experience with movers with my last move as they were efficient and got the work done as fast as they could. I was hoping my experience with movers this time around would be the same but it was not. 2 movers arrived on moving day and immediately told us that it'd be faster to get a 3rd mover out. We trusted their opinion even if it mean increasing our hourly rate from $120 to $165/hr. However once the third guy arrived, everything still went horribly slow. The movers were respectful and protected our stuff (albeit we had a scratched up nightstand and saw them accidentally drop our TV while carrying it upstairs). They came without any power tools so had to disassemble our bed by hand which took a lot longer than our previous movers who had power tools with them and disassembled our bed 1 hr faster than these guys did. Additionally they also had only one pocket knife to share between the 3 so one of the movers was constantly slowing things down by having to borrow the other mover's pocket knife. I also was bothered by the fact that while 2 guys were moving things into our new house, one guy was standing outside folding up their moving blankets back in the truck. I don't think the time spent doing that should have been done on my dime at all. Overall it look almost 7 hours for 3 guys to move an 1100 sq feet apartment. This is my second review for Fantastic Moves, and I'm glad to be a repeat customer. The guys were a little late (like 10-15mins) but they called to let me know ASAP. Definitely appreciate the call. Wasn't a big deal because we were still getting all the little stuff together anyways. We had 2 stops on the move, our new place and then on to storage. The guys packed everything in the correct order so we didn't waste any time hunting stuff down. Great job there. The only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that they do seem a bit slow on the load/pack-in portion of the move. One of the guys was seemingly insistent that we could get a couch out of the hallway when I knew for a fact it wouldnt fit (so we had to go through the balcony, just as we did when we moved in). Finally after about 4-5 times explaining the logistics, he agreed to go over the balcony. I know they are the moving professionals... But I would make a suggestion to the crew: Sometimes the customer does know what they are talking about :) The unload and getting everything into storage went great. No complaints there. They got us moved from Little Elm to Richardson without a hitch (aside from being late on arrival due to rush hour traffic, which I fault nobody for when they use the Tollway through Plano). Everything was packed, wrapped, and padded as needed. The entire move was done in the estimated time. There was no push to order 2 trucks or extra people, like another top rated company on Yelp. 2 men and a 26 foot truck can move 1500 sq ft of crap just fine! Get these folks to move your stuff. Truthfully, I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars on this review because the two movers that came were perfectly nice and cordial, but they also took their sweet time moving my furniture. I moved from one apartment to another that was a block and a half down the street. Over $300 and 2.5 later, here's why I think it cost me so much time and money: The premise behind this moving company is that they send out two men and a truck (duh), but they also wrap up your fragile furniture in blankets and plastic wrap. Now, that's cool and all, but if the move went sans plastic wrap and maybe just tossing a blanket here and there so things wouldn't scratch, I would have said, Aight! I was witness to a couple of things: (1) the moving guys "helped" each other with the smallest pieces of furniture...things I could have moved myself in less time...but I don't have a truck so I was hosed, and (2) as they got to the end of the move, they stopped wrapping the furniture. So, I'm left wondering if the whole "we'll wrap your furniture" isn't some kind of ploy to keep their customers on the clock longer. Hell, at $100 an hour, I guess I'd try to keep the customers on the clock as long as possible too, but seriously, I'm not made of money. So, TM&AT get two stars cuz the guys were nice...though one of them was questionable, and also because I got my furniture moved without any damage. I think I'll try and get my buds (and maybe someone with a truck) to come and help me next time and I'll just buy everyone beer and pizza! read more

Our in-state move from Irving to Houston met all our expectations and then some. The actual movers realized on Wednesday, the preparation day, that their truck would have to be packed perfectly in order to hold all our "stuff." On Thursday, those two movers plus a third one, made everything fit. The truck was packed 100%, front to back and top to bottom. They drove to Houston Thursday afternoon, and then unpacked everything and placed each piece of furniture as we requested on Friday. It was a perfect move. read more

I wouldn't use them again. Their guy Nick was great. But they sent 2 guys in their 50's to move us and it turned into an all day affair. My wife and daughter did as much work as their guys did. Then they damaged some off our things and gave us a small credit. Finally they mislead us on the price. On Monday I was told a final price over the phone but then saw my credit card charged for more. Brought it to Jane's attention.to no avail. Buyer beware!!! Also, be careful. They tell you everything can fit and then it doesn't. So they send a van and charge you more. Parrish at Fantastic Movers was cordial, patient, and thoroughly explained all charges and what to expect the day of my move. The email confirmation also had helpful moving tips and packing ideas. That was not only thoughtful but beneficial to myself and my movers. I emailed him several times with questions and concerns and all responses were prompt and concise. Moving Day: My movers arrived 5 minutes early. They reviewed the contract and gave me a realistic time estimate. After that they got right to work and hustled! They wrapped all my furniture and even though they were moving quickly they handled all of my items carefully. The movers kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. Not only did these guys finish ahead of schedule they didn't damage my property or any doors or walls. This has NEVER happened to me before. I moved to DFW in 2008. My wife and I recently moved from Dallas to Austin. This was the second part of a 2-part move. BEWARE! I recently hired Fantastic Moves to pack up my furniture for my move. When I received my Pod at my new home, I also had professional movers to unload my furniture. It took us a while to even get the Pod open because -- as we discovered -- the Fantastic Moves staff had stacked heavy furniture on top of cardboard boxes, which collapsed under the weight and shifted the furniture so it blocked the Pod door, seriously scraping up the wood furniture in the process. Additionally, they stacked heavy furniture feet down on top of my very expensive wood electric standing desk which punctured my desktop and bowed the desk legs irreparably. They also stacked a lot of heavy boxes on a shelving unit that collapsed under the weight breaking not only the shelf but the metal frame. Nearly half of my carefully padded and packed dishes were broken. There were other careless, amateur loading issues as well resulting in less costly damage. When I reported only the most expensive damages to Fantastic Moves, along with photos clearly showing that the bad loading decisions resulted in the damages, their response is that once they've loaded your stuff, they accept no responsibility for any damages, even if those damages were a direct result of their lack of professional packing. Two of their staff even acknowledged that the loading was done incorrectly, and they still accept no responsibility and provide no compensation for the destruction of a very expensive desk. read more

My roommate convinced me that movers would be the best option for our move. I was only moving one street over so I was hesitant however I agreed. They took two and a half hours to pack up an 800 sq ft apt with very little to move...took 30 min to drive what should be 10, then got to my place, immediately broke two brand new very expensive moving bins, cracked 3 legs of my new Z Gallery console, put huge gashes in the walls of both my old and new places, then to top it off a case which I kept separately from everything else which had money and my medicines in it is gone. Im honestly just upset that people that we fully trusted did such a lazy, reckless job. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND these people to anyone. Go somewhere else unless you want your stuff broken, stolen, and for management to not care...at all. read more
