This is a great place to "get your feet wet" if you are new to kayaking (sorry, had to do it!) I…read moresay that because it is an easy put-in with lots of help from the staff. Water is calm and wide-open from the launch site so you have plenty of time to get your sea legs before you set off. Excellent place for groups or families. Very affordable. Singles are $10 for one hour rental, $15 for two. Doubles are $15/20. Life jackets, complimentary! There is a much longer trip you can take, but I can't give pricing or comment since we did the shorter route. Standard disclosures and waivers must be signed. Staff give you all the low-down on the routes and what you can expect to see along the way. It was fun to paddle both open lake and river sections. On the lake we mingled with swans and lily pads, on the river we enjoyed some beautiful and quiet spots with overhanging trees and a nice, gentle current. Although this review is for the paddling company where you rent your equipment, I will add a brief note to say it is located in Indian Crossing Trails Park and there is a public, free launch in the same location. So if your friend has a kayak, but you don't, no one is left out! The park itself is a lovely location with convenient parking for kayakers bringing their own or renting.

Jen and Mark were so friendly and flexible. The river was low (making for some bottom-scraping…read moreadventures), but Mark was sure to alert me to that fact before our trip. They have a variety of trips to choose from, ranging in difficulty from an easy paddle in the pond to a more advanced 5 hour trip. I will be going back next season!

If your looking for an affordable and fun day out on the water chasing perch, catfish or walleye,…read morelook no further than DownDay Charters. Captain Robb is our first choice for charters in the state of Michigan. Every trip we have made has been a huge success. He knows the lake very well and works hard to put your group on fish. His boat is always clean and is the perfect size to accommodate your group of 6. Rods and reels are well kept and ready to go as soon as the anchor is down. He is patient for those who are new to fishing or less experienced. His rates are great for those who can't afford the big cost of the larger boats. We look forward to every trip we take, knowing Robb is there for us to make our trip great.

Robb Devries needs a lot of work…read more He showed up 10 minutes prior to departure time (not earlier to check for sea-worthiness, or prepare his boat for the day). In his boat check there was a problem with the motor (possible broken seal/leaking gear oil) which I do not fault him for. Had he showed up early for preparation, this would have been taken care of sooner. I do fault him for not greeting his guests, not looking and acting professional, and not having the courtesy of keeping his customers updated with progress on the boat issue. His boat is small, but sufficient for the task. I will say that it appears he hasn't cleaned the outside of his boat for 2 years or more. According to his mess of a webpage/Facebook page (spelling errors, grammatical errors), he has not had the comparable Walleye catches that other Charter businesses have. I will say he appears to be a good Perch fisherman. Overall Robb appears to use this as a part-time job, and this type of business demands full-time preparation, dedication, and knowledge. Robb just does not have that, and I would not recommend him to anyone. Hopefully this review fuels him to improve on all aspects of this business.
