It seemed some of the technicians gave more personalized service than others. I have no idea who my technician was because she didn't tell me not ask my name. Toenail polish isn't to the edge, fingernails have polish on the sides, even after I asked her to clean it up. Nails were not buffed, no hot towel, no hand massage, nothing...She was constantly wiping her nose on the back of her hand...but the worst was that I noticed NONE of the people there disinfected the foot soaking bowls after a customer. I got a gel mani today and was pretty happy with the result. My nail tech rushed through it a bit, but she did a great job so I was fine with it. It was a little on the pricey side ($35) but worth it. They give you a little massage while the nails are setting, which was so nice. I would go again! read more

Great service and standard pricing. Excellent attention to detail with designs and the polish usually stays on longer with no chipping compared to other salons that I've been to in the DC area. I guess you get what you pay for... It was 25 dollars for a manicure and pedicure. I had one of the men. He made both a toe and a finger bleed as he trimmed my cuticles. The polish is uneven and I noticed after I left that it is all over the skin around my toe nails. One of my nails isn't filed evenly and is rough. There are air bubbles in the nail polish. My feet still feel rough. The place looks clean and there was no wait. I saw someone else's comment that there is cleaning supplies next to each pedicure station, but I saw them drain the water out of the station next to me, immediately fill it back up and seat a new customer. Fantasy Nails is always clean and bright--they are always cleaning and investing in new pedicure chairs, etc. It depends on your specific nail tech, but manicure quality is generally very good. They offer a really nice and relaxing spa pedicure service. Highly recommend for friendly, reliable service. read more

It's been 3 months since I got my eyebrows butchered by this place, and some of what they did still has not grown back leaving my eyebrows patchy and permanently altered. The woman talked to her coworkers the entire eyebrow wax and let me tell you it's incredibly obvious. If you want to be completely humiliated and embarrassed then make sure you do the right thing here--- call ahead and schedule an appointment and then be screamed at by your nail tech that he will absolutely not finish your nails or do a gel pedicure.. It's one or the other... He's only doing one.. How dare I schedule an appointment so late ... He literally yelled at me and argued with me until I cried... And the sad part is that I was waiting to come here for over an hour but that is the time they scheduled me to come in. And now they are yelling about me in another language. DO NOT GO HERE! I went in wanting a gel/shellac mani/pedi. I've gotten them before at other places, and I'm super rough on my nails and they last for so long that the price is totally worth it...or so I thought. They changed the prices on me three times and finally said $45 for the pedi and $35 for the mani so I decided to just get the shellac pedi and a standard mani. Their color choices for shellac are very limited which bummed me out but I picked one and she started. I noticed that she didn't buff my nails as they are supposed to so the gel actually grips to the nail. It looked good when she finished, then she started on my manicure and rushed through it, making three of my cuticles bleed, and then didn't spend time on the polish so she didn't get close to the edges at all. I left looking like my nails were a week grown out already. My weariness about the pedicure proved true. After one shower, the shellac was literally falling off of three of my nails and easily peeled off the rest with no effort. You're supposed to have to soak and fight like hell to get this stuff off because it is supposed to last for weeks. They're using a no-name brand, and the wrong techniques. What a waste of $55! before going i always read the reviews...there were more good then bad...so i decided to go...When i got there a man greeted me and i was taken right away. As soon as i sat down..the woman doing nails had a bad attitude. While she was doing my nails she would get upset if you hand was facing a certain way and would be very forceful pulling my hand back to its "proper position". When she was applying the color she would keep hitting it and destroying the paint..but acted as if she did not and was actually going to keep painting the other fingers with out correcting her mistake..when she was finally done painting i asked her to go back over the nail she had messed up on, she sighed and rolled her eyes. I was furious at this point with her attitude, she told me to go sit in the back to have it dry..stayed there for 25 min for it to dry..she didn't help me take my bag back at first until i said something then she picked up and threw it on the back counter. I didn't bother giving a tip. This place is cheap and convenient but the even with the good prices i rather go somewhere and pay a little more then to be treated like this. read more

If I can give zero freaking stars, I would !!!! Worst pedicure experience!!! The woman that did my pedicure was more focused on talking on the phone & was pretty much rushing doing a half assed pedicure. First of all!! She didn't listen to what I wanted, she only put the massaging scrub on my left foot & forgot about my right! Why? BECAUSE SHE WAS ON THE PHONE! She didn't really do my nails squared as I wanted!! I accidentally nicked the polish when i was sitting down to dry them. I told her & she gave me an attitude & fussed over it. She didn't bother to wipe off the whole polish! She repainted over the smudged polish & immediately told me, if I wanted to pay. I said "not right now. I will wait once they're dry" she said no, bc she wants to leave. Nonetheless, I will NEVER go back & I didn't tip her either. I can careless, if she needs the tip to feed her kids. Not my problem! I have tried different services here (eyebrow waxing, acrylic nails, pedicure) and I have been so disappointed every time. Last time I had my eyebrows done, significant skin was pulled off. My nails had come out uneven and thick. I got a pedicure with a friend today and I could have spent less money getting the tools and doing it myself. She left paint all around my cuticle. My feet were still rough afterwards and I don't have significant callouses to begin with. There really is no massage at all; they just run their hands up and down your legs. The water was lukewarm at best and we were seated in two older chairs and the massage function on mine didn't work. The women who did my nails was incredibly rude pointing and rolling her eyes constantly. This was certainly not worth $20 at all. read more

I have been to this place a couple of times. Never a problem until today. Worse experience at a nail salon ever. The man who did my gel mani and pedi had no clue what he was doing. First, he acted like it was a fire drill and he had to hurry. There were two other customers in the shop and about 7 other people sitting around waiting to work. He totally screwed up my toe nails and my feet felt and looked more rough than when I walked in. He wanted to clip my nails and I said no just file them. That must have thrown him off because he had no clue how to file. I tried to show he and he still didn't get it. Straight across, no dips in the middle and please, make nails same length on both hands. It sucked. The manager did nothing to help except he came over when I asked the guy wasn't he going to clean under the nails. Completely done with this place. No excuse. read more

This place really needs to be shut down!! I came here for a simple soak off for acrylic gel nails & walked out with a nightmare. I told the lady EXACTLY what I wanted which was a simple SOAK OFF. For 2 minutes she used a drill & was looking completely clueless, then next thing I know she switches with another clueless girl who ends up taking half my nail off. The service was completely garbage. I tend to be very passive & soft spoken but I ended up cussing the ladies out. None of the ladies apologized or took responsibility for how pathetic of a job they did. If they didn't know how to do the service, don't have me sitting in a dirty, wrinkled chair only to take half my nail off and it stinging because she tried to put it in acetone after my nail was removed. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE YELP REVIEWS. I'm just a regular graduate student who came by after a long day of clinicals, just to deal with this type of horror. I had a great experience at Fantasy Nails! It was very clean and much nicer on the inside than it looks on the outside. My nail technician was Lynn. I decided to indulge in a pedicure with a hot stone massage ($30 - very affordable) which also included an exfoliating scrub massage - it was amazing. I didn't feel like Lynn was rushing through the massage or being lazy. It was purely relaxing - not even looking at my phone. An hour later, I started my gel manicure (natural nails) and that was also very well done. A surprise perk! They give you a quick neck massage during the final round of your gel drying. Just a nice way to finish the entire experience. I thought it was very good value for what I paid. Amazing and I will be back - so glad I found this place!! I have been to this Nail Salon for about 5 times and will definitely go back. I have used Allie and Annie, both professional and skilled and pleasant to talk with. It is affordable, very pleasant environment and they do a very good job. My nail polish tends to last longer than other places that I have been to. Annie actually has put on extra nail hardener at no additional cost. I rarely have to wait, and front receptionist always greets me right away. They have a nice selection of nail polish. I have only gotten a pedicure or manicure. I have had eyebrows waxed as well. Also, they have evening hours which is a big plus. Also, it seems very clean. read more

Went here with a friend in June 2014. Tools were all wrapped in sanitizing plastic. Staff was very friendly and did a great job on both of us. We had to run next door to take out cash because they wouldn't let me tip on my credit card. But they were nice in letting me run out and come back to drop off the tip. I was leery about going here for a pedicure because of the most recent negative reviews they'd received, but you know how you always think, "that's just them and their experience?" Well, take heed my fellow Yelpers! I went in here for a basic pedicure. It's nothing fancy, just your basic, Asian-owned, corner store nail salon... nothing spectacular, but doable. When I arrived, there were only a few customers. I figured, this is good because I'll be able to soak for a while and not be rushed because others were waiting. The nail tech came over and started my water, grabbed a few supplies and I started to settled in my foot bath. I looked at my clock... I always do, because I'm always interested in how much time they spend on my feet. Plus, the time they spend with me is factored into the gratuity I decide to leave. Time is money - you know? Feet when in the bowl at 5:35 PM... feet came out the bowl at 5:45 PM!!! Are you serious? A 10-minute pedi??? OMG! Listen, I'm pretty reserved and when I have a bad customer service experience... It will usually reflect in my gratuity and I simply won't return. But, this time, I had to speak up. I said, "Ma'am, how could you be done? It's been only ten minutes." She said, "Well, I still have to put lotion on you and polish." LOL She asked me if I wanted the callus removal and or course I said yes. That's the whole entire purpose of a pedicure isn't it? To soak my feet, soften the skin and then remove all the hard, dead and callused skin that's built up over the past few weeks? Well, she said callus removal is 5$ extra. Huh? Why would you have an upcharge for something that should be a part of the service. I didn't want hot stones, or flower pedals in the water, or Argon oils... I just wanted my feet scrubbed. Nope... After being told that there was a 15 minute wait, I proceeded to wait nearly an hour. I'm 40 weeks pregnant and wanted to get a pedicure before the baby comes. After finally being put in a chair and waiting another 15 minutes, a technician proceeded to cut open my toe while trimming my nails. She then tried to tell me it was the fault of my toenails and denied I was bleeding. I pulled my toe out of the water and it was definitely bleeding. I left immediately. There was nobody seemingly in charge and nobody seemed to care what had happened. I'm glad the crowd of people waiting got to see my toe bleeding all over the place. i went there twice for a fill. twice my nails have chipped the next day. I am not a landscaper. I am not doing lot of anything with my hands, and I keep my nails relatively short. The acrylic chips off of my real nail in mundane tasks like pulling a zipper. They are inexpensive if you go Monday-Wednesday, but the quality is crappy. I've had two poor experiences here and will not be returning to this establishment. To start, the service is absolutely terrible. I was not greeted upon arrival and even when an employee approached the desk, I had to speak to her to get her to even acknowledge my presence. Once I finally got seated, the woman proceeded to try to rip of the SNS on my nails from my nail bed. Once she realized that wasn't working and that it hurt, she decided to file down my nails. The woman who was filing down my nails proceeded to cough on my hand as she filed and had the nerve to be shocked when I pulled back my hand. Apparently she took this as me not wanting my nails filed and just put the acetone and foil on my nails. After all of this, the man who came and checked on one of my nails proceeded to accuse me of not letting her file my nails and was extremely rude. When I told him this wasn't true and that I wanted my nails filed down, he said that there was nothing he could do at this point. Fantasy Nails & Spa is the best nail salon in the Downtown Silver Spring area. I used to live nearby, and this was my favorite salon to visit for a mani/pedi. I went fairly often and never had a bad experience. I took my bridesmaids here when I got married, and the ladies were so nice - they helped me schedule the large group in advance and everyone's nails looked amazing. I've been to more expensive places in the area, and they don't compare to Fantasy's quality of service. When I got pregnant, however, I had to stop going, because it is not very well ventilated. Then I moved, and now I miss it so much! The prices are great and the quality is outstanding. Plus, it's very clean! read more

I am a regular customer at Fantasy Nails in the Woodmoor Shopping Center. The place is always very clean and hygienic. They provide a modern and nice environment for a competitively priced service--and they play music rather than having a TV, which is a plus in my mind. The technicians are very accommodating and do their best to please. The only downside is that they don't give the fastest mani/pedi (on the upside, they do a lot of pampering at no charge which other places don't provide, such as a shoulder massage while your nails are during), so let the technicians know if you have a deadline and must leave by a certain time. read more

This place came highly recommended by two friends. The Pedicure by Alnie (I think that's how it's spelled) was amazing! I thought I found a new place. But she had someone else do my nails. I wanted Acrylics, French manicure, with gel on top. The lady was very nice, every once in awhile I had to ask her to fix something but no big deal. She finishes the gel, does the UV, wipes it off, puts oil and massages. But a minute later she starts putting gel on again and my nails don't feel right. When I ask about it, she says she just needs a second coat. I've done this enough to know that's not true but she is nice so I let her do it. Secondg time: she just puts on another gel coat and puts my nails under the UV , even after the UV and the wipe off I can see holes in the gel. Another lady comes looks at it and says she has to take off everything off except the acrylic and start again. So third time: has to do it all again, gel still doesn't take so she has to do it a fourth time. Then they have the nerve to charge me full price. The manager kept making excuses that the lady just wanted it perfect for me and kept doing it cause I wasn't happy. I kept saying I wasn't happy because the gel wouldn't stick. She at one point told me I can go elsewear if I didn't like how their nails came out because they've been doing them for so long and they know what they are doing. . I should have walked out of there without paying anything but I paid $50 instead of the $60 they were charging me because I refused to pay the full amount. I was so upset. I meant to tip the lady who did my feet because she was amazing but I walked out with no tip for anyone. All this kept me there 1.5 hours longer and they still wanted to charge me full price! read more
