Very good experience at Azaela City for my pedicure. I walked in and my nail tech, Yoselin was waiting for me at the door. I was able to pick my color and head right to the chair. The chairs and ottomans they have are so comfortable! I immediately felt relaxed. This was my first dry pedicure, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was still very relaxing and I loved the scrub and hot towels. The space is also very cute. Simple colors but very sleek and modern. I was able to grab street parking right our front , but I can see parking being difficult on a busy day. read more

While the salon has a great atmosphere, I am unsatisfied with the quality of work. I got a standard gel manicure at this salon. My nail tech was quick and on time. However, I do not know if I would bother coming back again due to a few reasons, but I would not try the same tech again. One, I noticed after the appointment that I had two cuts on separate cuticles from the tech trimming them back. Additionally, each of my cuticles were not given the same amount of attention. One particular finger stands out with the gap between the gel and my new growth being larger than the rest. I am aware that perhaps my nails grow unevenly, but I've gotten my nails done before and never had this issue so I think it's still worth noting. I also left the salon with unnoticed gel under my nail that I had to chisel off later. Lastly, at exactly the one week mark, the gel on one nail started lifting. That particularly upsets me because I'm worried about moisture and bacteria getting trapped so I had to remove the gel much sooner than anticipated. I work a desk job and genuinely don't do much with my hands so I am confident it wasn't anything I did. Overall, for $60, I expected better. I am honestly most disappointed because I was willing to support a salon with their values. Lastly, parking at the co-op is no longer free and hasn't been for at least a month. Ugh. I really wanted to love this place . I've been on the hunt for a new nail salon since moving to the city from Chicago a few months ago. I really liked the vibe of the salon and the fact that they use non-toxic materials. They also appear to treat their staff very well. However, they are a bit pricy for a gel+builder manicure but I was willing to bite the bullet on the price if the work matched the sticker price. Unfortunately it has not. I got my manicure on Friday late afternoon and by Sunday afternoon several of my nails are already chipped. There's no reason a gel manicure should be chipping/fading after 48 hours. I've been coming to this salon for a few years and I am never disappointed. From "basic" tier one manicures to tier three with intricate designs, my nails turn out beautifully! Yoslin is an amazing tech, she is able to see inspo pictures and deliver. The salon is so cute inside, lots of bright natural light and disco balls bring in even more light! I love that this is a waterless salon and they have vegan nail polishes. FYI this is a non-toxic salon that carries builder gel and gel-x I decided to try this place because I am trying to transition out of dipping powder and instead use builder gel---however, it's been hard for me to find salons that carry builder gel in the dc area. This salon is small and pretty calm, I counted 7 or 8 stations (no spa chairs). Because of this, I doubt they take walk ins. You schedule online with your card, though they don't charge you until after the service is done. For gel, they carry two brands, with more than enough colors ( I really enjoyed their selection of bright and fluorescent colors). What this does is really limit the mess and clutter of most nail salons. The nail techs each have Venmos available for digital tipping, which is very convenient. Service was good, my nail tech Lizi was great, pleasant and explained things about the builder gel as she knew I was transitioning from dip powder. I also feel like she took her time and wasn't rushing me out of there, something I find common in nail shops which leads to poor manicures and deterioration of nails over time. It's expensive--I paid 85 for regular gel mani with builder gel, but she did repair 2 nails with gel x and didn't charge me for that. However, I think it's probably worth your while if you got the funds due to 1. Non toxic products 2. Calm and easy experience with good service. I loved my experience at Azalea City Nails and wish all nail salons were like this. Their website is easy to use with clear information and pricing. It was quick and easy to book my standard manicure online. They hold with a credit card and then you can use your card on file to check out (if you want). Tips are cash or Venmo, which is fantastic. I found nearby street parking, as their recommended lot was full, and they are strict on lateness, so I couldn't keep circling. Keep that in mind when visiting. Azalea has fun regular polish options, such as Holo Taco, which is my favorite. They also have Dazzle Dry, another fave, and offer gel as well. I love that they do cool nail art, but wish it was offered for regular polish, as it's quite othering to those of us with acrylate sensitivity/allergies. It's super cute inside and very relaxing. I love the ambiance. I would describe it as cozy glam. Geraldine did an excellent job on my nails, especially the shaping and cuticle work, which was my main reason for getting a mani. If you get regular polish, definitely stay under the dryer longer than they recommend, because I smudged a nail 30 minutes later, so did not love that. I've been coming here for just for of a year now, and I've always had a great experience. I always make appointments, and every time I'm there the place is busy, so I think that's the right move. I first visited because I wanted a pedicure (which I don't get very often) and they were one of the only places in the area offering dry pedicures. That being said, I usually just get a manicure with builder gel and Dazzle Dry polish. I've tried various kinds of acrylics and gels before, but the builder gel, while it can't be used to extend your nails, has been incredibly durable between appointments. The Dazzle Dry polish dries within five minutes but removes just like regular polish. I love using it when I do get a pedicure because it dries quickly and I've heard horror stories about regular gel polish on toes so I usually don't get to get a pedicure in the winter/rain because I don't like sitting there waiting for my polish to dry. The salon is super easy to get to from the metro. It's always very clean, and there's even a sink for washing your hands when you arrive. The staff is incredibly nice. I've seen Paola the most, and she always does a fantastic job--she's thorough, attentive, and always double-checks the shape of my nails and the color choice. I've also had appointments with Kim and Karina, and the quality of service from them has been just as high. read more

If perfection were a nail salon, well by god Azalea City Nails would be it. Perfect manicures, perfect aesthetic, perfect service... It's just perfect! As you walk into the tasteful, welcoming, open space of the salon, you quickly realize it's missing something: the wall of chemical smell that usually accompanies a nail salon. It's simply not there--just fresh, pleasant air to go along with the colorful, chic atmosphere. This is because they use only non-toxic polishes, which creates a safer environment for everyone in the salon. No chemical fumes from dips, gels, or acrylics (not to mention the dust). They want us all to "breathe easy" whilst we get pampered, which takes the idea and experience of being pampered to a whole other level. So good. I arrived for my appointment, was warmly welcomed, and lead over to the polish wall which was a rainbow of chic, current, sophisticated colors ranging from tasteful pink nudes to vibrant, rich jewel tones. I picked a lovely, autumnal persimmon shade and sat down with my new friend, Raquel, and enjoyed every moment of our chat as she rubbed, scrubbed, shaped, oiled, and polished my very ragged, very neglected hands with great care. I left with not only gorgeous nails, but revitalized, youthful-looking hands. My manicure lasted nearly a week--no, really!--which has never, ever happened to me before. It might have something to do with the fact that they're a waterless salon, which means you don't soak (and thus waterlog) your nails during the process. It's quite pleasant and way more gentle on the environment AND your nails, which is a win for everyone (including the planet). I was so relaxed and happy for the duration of my visit, and I really cannot wait to go again. Enjoyed my first visit to this super cute little nail salon, located near historic Takoma DC. I've long been intrigued by the concept of waterless nail services, so I was elated when I heard that such a place was opening up right here in my neck of the woods. So here are the things that they, well, "nailed" -- 1. Atmosphere -- this salon is super cute, inside and out. Bright, vibrant, clean, and relaxing. The vibe is wonderful! It's like stepping inside a magazine, but then being invited to make yourself feel right at home! 2. Staff -- everyone who worked there was very friendly and welcoming, from the girl at the front desk to the nail tech (shout out to Raquel) herself. 3. Concept -- I love the emphasis on vegan products and clean beauty. I like knowing that I have a whole wall of thoughtfully curated nail products to choose from, and that I don't have to sacrifice my health to do it. The emphasis on non-toxic natural nails just speaks my love language! 4. Technology -- This is a 21st century nail salon. There's easy online booking for appointments, along with useful electronic reminders as your service date approaches. And at the end of your appointment, you can pay using the card that's already stored on file to hold the reservation. That means, long gone are the days of digging in your purse with wet digits when it's time to go! Be aware though that tips cannot be put on your card. It's cash or Venmo only for that! 5. Service -- Subject to the caveats below, I really enjoyed my service. The salon was generally very chill and quiet. The nail techs made just enough conversation that you felt at ease, but no lengthy gab fests that got in the way of you just closing your eyes and relaxing for a spell. The nail polish brands are amazing (like Smith & Cult). And the drops they put on your nails at the end REALLY DO work! Your nails will be dry and you won't have to worry about smudging them when it's time to go! 6. Longetivity -- Because it's a waterless service, my natural nail manicure has lasted longer than usual. I'm on Day 5 and there's not a smudge, nick, or chip in sight! My pedicure still looks great at this juncture too, though that's typical even of a water-based service, I think. 7. Parking -- Easy peasy! There's free parking in the public lot across the street, next to the natural foods co-op. Ok, so notwithstanding all these wonderful things, here's where I think there's room for improvement: 1. Furniture -- While cute, the furniture is just not comfortable or appropriate for those of us of shorter stature. When it was time to put my feet up on the ottoman for my pedicure, I was acutely aware that my hips and thighs were now much higher than my bum in a non-ergonomic way. I felt a little bit like a little girl playing around on adult furniture. This furniture seems to be made for...I dunno, maybe a 6-foot tall Scandivanian woman. Or even a 5'8 American. It definitely wasn't made with me in mind (I'm 5'0 on a good day). It wasn't a comfortable way to sit for an extended period of time. The same was true when it was time for the manicure. They pull a little side table up to the chair -- but the table isn't very long, and it required me to reach my left arm over at a very odd angle for a prolonged period of time. Most of the time, I had to stop and just rest my left hand on my lap because it just wasn't long enough to stay propped on that side table on the far right side. Again, this wasn't designed with the needs of a petite woman in mind. So the furniture made the nail service itself not as comfortable and relaxing as it could and should have been. It also doesn't look like the nail techs are working in ergonomic positions either. And the effects of that are liable to show up in the long run! 2. Cost -- This is not your typical nail salon. These nail services are extremely pricy. I paid $100 for just a basic mani and pedi, whereas in other places you can get that for less than half that price! Now, to be clear, I don't mind paying premium costs for premium service -- especially where it's said that the nail techs make a living wage. But if that's true, I think tipping should be abolished in the salon moving forward. Just set your price at whatever it takes to make sure that techs are making what is fair and appropriate -- and let that be the end of it! read more

This place is delightful! I just went for the first time and I really appreciated it. Because they are vegan and non toxic, there is no odor which is wonderful because nail salons often have me leaving with nice nails and a terrible headache. The staff were all super friendly. The chairs were incredibly comfortable. And they still require masks! As someone who is vaccinated but still at risk for severe Covid (and prefers to not catch anything, even a cold), I really appreciated that. It's also a bit smaller than your typical nail salon which made it much quieter and more relaxing. And on top of all that, it's cute! Thank you, Azalea City, for a wonderful first visit. I had my second visit to Azalea City nails last week. I was not sure how I would feel about a waterless pedicure. My first pedicure lasted about a month. My feet were smooth and soft . The manicure was fantastic. I didn't miss the foot bath in fact the warm towel felt great This salon is clean, calm ,it. smells good and the the folk are friendly. It is very relaxing.
