Avoid Farashe Med & Spa!!! I bought a $300 Groupon for 40 units, and the treatment was done poorly. The injector didn't go deep enough, left me with bumps that lasted far too long, and I bruised, none of which has ever happened to me with Botox before. When I asked about it, they brushed it off as "normal" and told me to wait two weeks. When I went back to address the issue, the physician dismissed my concerns and defended the injector, even with before-and-after photos that clearly didn't show the results I should've gotten. They refused to acknowledge that anything was done incorrectly. This place does not take accountability, does not listen to customers, and does not provide the quality of care you expect from a med spa. If you want reliable results and providers who stand behind their work, go somewhere else. read more

Overall, love this place, I became a member and had services even during the end of the pandemic. See Covid section. Found them with a Groupon for a 45 min sauna and facial, after the service I signed up that day. Parking: Shared lot not a ton of parking but I have never not found a spot despite coming at different times. Products: Expensive products, definitely no short changing on quality here. I do love I have never been pressure to buy anything. As a member you get a discount and free shipping but I am more boujee on a budget for my skincare. Seem like good stuff tho. Membership: $89 a month plus 45 min sauna that includes either a facial, massage, or Vichy shower treatment. I've tried all, loved the facials and massage but won't do Vichy again. Interesting to try tho. If I did do it again I would pair it with exfoliation then I think I would like it more. Atmosphere: Its small but not bare bones. It doesn't feel like ultra luxury but it does feel clean, and quaint, and comfortable. The atmosphere feels friendly and helpful. Pro tip: Be lazy and busy like me and then let your credits add up so you can do a 3 hr getaway. Start with 45 min sauna, then massage, then facial. You are welcome. Staff: Shelly is a sweetheart. Gil is phenomenal at massages and Kiah is my favorite and the reason I signed up as a member in the first place plus the sauna plus service makes it a good value compared to other places. WOW as a licensed Esthetician since 2009 in the State of Maryland. Also, a long-time resident in Columbia, I am completely devastated by the treatment I received from the receptionist Catherine this morning. My best friend went online because I always wanted to visit this day spa but never got a chance because I'm super busy. He bought me a 200-dollar gift card to relax because I've been grieving my mother is currently on life support in Ashville N, I just recently found out. My 10-year-old Autistic son has been sick and was in the hospital. It's been crazy, so he thought a spa day would help. Today, while at work I called to book an appointment for today for message and light therapy and had the rudest most unprofessional encounter with Catherine. Afterward, I inquired about speaking with a Manager and she wouldn't even give me their name. She told me to call back tomorrow when a Manager is there and abruptly hung the phone up. I called back hoping to speak with someone else and she wouldn't answer and sent me to voice mail. I wasn't even able to book the 4:30 appointment for today that she said was available. So I discovered this place due to a Groupon infrared sauna package I gave as a gift. We finally made time to use the groupon and... It was different. First the good. Relatively convenient Columbia location and ample parking. And sauna got hot. Now the bad, and I'm going to be brief as possible. I am doing this because if someone had left this for me it would have saved some money and time. Yelp has been very helpful to me determining good fit and not so good fit for me to try. So this has less to do with the business and more to do with me paying it forward to other yelpers. 1/ rushed and not properly communicated service. By that I mean when new people show up the business should take time to properly break down the service they are getting. I have been to spas before on cruises and all inclusive retreats, this one turned out to be different, so that intro would have helped. 2/ So person was gone by the time I got in the room and we had to figure it out. This is what we figured out:. -No slippers provided. So walking on suspect floor with bare feet. -No robe provided, just towel type item -The Sauna was turned on, however the touch display sound system wasnt working. So left to their customer service (that did not check on us once) we would have sat in there with no music. Thankfully I did figure out how to just turn on the player hidden behind the display. -As someone else has mentioned the room they placed us in was right next to the entrance, so you could hear the employees quite well, not the best for a serene, meditative setting And all of that while not enjoyable ,is stuff you can shrug off and get past. What for me were dealbreakers and I would not have even bought the service if I had known: -No access to shower after sweating in a hot sauna. Just sweating, put on your clothes and go. Again no stranger to spas here. No one has a sauna session without being able to shower after. Not only is it not hygenic, it undoes any calming effect of the sauna. I dont understand how you even offer a sauna service without the ability to shower immediately after. -The 2nd deakbreaker in an age of covid (or any age if I am honest) not providing bottled water but having people use an open in room water pitcher in the sauna room. The top was half off, anything could have contaminated that water. So that is it. The experience. I ended up having to buy the Mrs. a different gift to make up for that spa gift. We live and hopefully learn. All these issues the business could absolutely address and resolve in the future. Will they? I don't know. If none of this sounds like a problem to you, then this is the Spa for you. If it does sound problematic, you may want to confirm what to expect before trying it out. Two Words: Terrell Toney. I was a Licensed Massage Therapist for 8 years and have had many massages in my day. This evening Terrell gave me the best massage I've had in the past 5 years, maybe ever. He listened to everything I told him/asked for. He is very intuitive, which i think helped him provide perfect pressure for the entire massage (cause, you know, some body parts need more or less depending on what's going on!) He helped me feel instantly at ease and guiding me through therapeutic breathing at the beginning and end of my massage. I was told by front staff that Terrell is also a personal trainer. This is evident by his knowledge of the body and different modalities he uses. Couldn't recommend him more! I know I'll be back...regularly! read more

Chose this spa because they have a Vichy table & had good reviews. However, the reviews I read must not have been scheduled with CHER HARRIS. When 1st greeted by her there weren't any pleasantries, which is totally okay. After arriving in the treatment room she very dryly explained the initial instructions, also okay. She then left the room for 15 min without any explanation when she returned, it was almost 35 min past the hour. I asked would I receive the full treatment time? She says with big attitude "what do you mean by that?" I repeated the question. With even more attitude she states.. " Well obviously your going to get your full treatment time".. I asked because I would then need to make arrangements for my daughter since I'd be running almost 40 min over. She throws her neck, rolls her eyes & storms out of the room saying she'd be back. 15 min later a member of the front desk comes to tell me CHER has an emergency with her mom. This was clearly a lie & it's clear that CHER must be in a miserable space in life & can't help but to spread it. Emotional Maturity is everything, we all have bad days but when you're an adult & in a industry that deals with people AND wellness you have to check your attitude at the front door. I loved the atmosphere and people here. I wanted to get the hydra facial, but instead I got dermaplanning and the European facial which was just as good and cheaper. I didn't know you couldn't get the hydra facial while pregnant but I'm so glad that they took the time to let me know and accommodate me. I think my face looked really nice after the treatment. I did get a small cut from the dermaplanning, but it was superficial and already gone. They also gave me a sample cream to put on it. read more

I went to this spa several times in the past but, it changed ownership and all the great massage therapists are gone. I booked service for my birthday this week and had the worse experience with Cher Harris. I should have read the reviews before going there again because someone posted a review that describes a similar experience i had. Cher greets me drily and looking like she's angry. she starts the massage and for about five minutes and says she forgot her water and walks out of the room. when she comes back, I made the mistake of asking if they usually use music during service or if they prefer silence. she replies that that's is not her fault , she does not control the music and she had not noticed that there was no music playing. she covers my back and says. I'll complain to the front desk. I then said, don't worry about it. I was just curious, Im fine without music. in reality I just didn't want to waist more time of my massage since. not only she was super late starting the massage and had to step out again for her water. well she did it anyways. when she comes back she she says that the speakers must be broken. Then she starts the massage again and yanks my arm back to stretch my shoulder blade and i felt a twinge on my neck. i started to rub my neck and she asks , what's wrong? so i mention to her that my neck didn't like the stretch she did. she never said sorry, the whole time acting like she's hating every minute of what she's doing. then she grabs hot stones for my back which i DID not sign up for hot stones, she puts it on my back and it startle me. she says do you have a problem? it looks like you have a problem with this service, I will see if someone else can finish your massage. she covered my back and stormed out. nobody came back in. i got up, got dressed and went to the front desk to pay for the other service i had earlier and the receptionist basically made all my fault that I was complaining about the music, that Cher's specialty is stretching, she is a stretch therapist and blah blah blah.... I've been going to Farashe for many years and always had a great experience so it saddens me that I had such a terrible experience the last time I went. My body treatment was not thorough AT ALL & there was poor communication from the person doing the treatment (Yasemin). I did receive a 20% discount but as a long time customer w/ legitimate complaints about my experience I should've received a bigger discount. Instead, the word of the professional (& a Google search about my own skin condition) was taken over my word by the Office Manager. What I experienced w/ Yasemin was offensive & humiliating as I believe her actions were related to my size & she was being fat phobic. It was clear that she didn't want to work on a larger body. I would have given a lower rating but I would recommend Lynn 100%. I just can no longer recommend (or go back to) Farashe. Shelly (Office Manager) is always very pleasant & usually very customer focused. She was still kind & pleasant but making a decision by Googling someone's else issues just isn't professional and rather embarrassing. read more

What can I say! This place was just amazing! First, the location. It was in an inconspicuous shopping center? I don't know. There was a day care and some other businesses around and also it was very quiet. It kind of threw me off. But it didn't matter because I parked, (ample parking) and went inside. Inside was heavenly. They had music playing and a lovely lady named Shelly came out to greet me. She confirmed my appointment and the areas I did not want touched during my massage. From there, I went into a waiting room. It had nice music and again, an amazing and calm ambiance. I was ready to get this massage done! My masseuse came, he introduced himself as Terrell. Then he explained what he was going to do, gave me time to get undressed and get ready. Well, during the massage I can't really tell you what happened LOL! It was so nice I fell asleep and was snoring!!! The masseuse was very kind about the embarrassing moment. There were times where he used too much pressure and I asked to change, and he did so immediately. It was amazing! He also used aromas like lavender and it made it all the more better. I was in heaven the whole time. I can't wait to come back and get a facial done. Mind you, this place gets booked--FAST! So definitely plan. But the massage was definitely one of the best I've had. Fastest and most comprehensive total waxing I have ever had and when someone can make you calm and relaxed as you bear all you book again which is exactly what I plan to do. I have a monthly membership here and have been to the spa about 5 times now, and while my massages with Gil and Cher have been AMAZING (and I've had many massages in my life), some other aspects of this spa need some work. I will review my experiences and provide my recommendations for resolution. My first experience at Farashe was for a facial, and I was very disappointed. My estheticians hands smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke, and she small talked with me during the entire process, which is not my preference during spa services. My recommendation for this would be to ask clients on their intake questionnaire if they prefer socializing or silence during services. I was also disappointed by the fact that my esthetician left for about 20-30 mins after she applied a mask. While masks are an important part of a facial, some other spas I have been to use that time to give a neck/scalp/foot massage. It just seemed like a long time away during a 60 minute service I am paying for. Lastly, I broke out after my facial and had blemishes for weeks after, so the products did not agree with my skin. I almost cancelled my membership after the facial, but I wanted to give the massages a chance, and the massages have since been awesome. My next critique is one that I have unfortunately noticed each time I have been in-- the walls are very thin, so massages/facials/sauna time is frequently disrupted by the sound of people talking in other rooms. Like, you can hear every word that they're saying. I'm writing this review from the sauna right now, as I can't mediate as I hoped to because of all the sound. My recommendation would be to enforce spa voices, and remind clients at check in to please keep sound to a minimum. Finally, my only other critique is the long waits for some massage therapists. Each time I had a massage with Cher, I waited 15-20 minutes past my appointment time. While my service was still a full hour, it could be a major inconvenience to my personal schedule, especially when I have to get to work. The one time I had booked a massage for my boyfriend at the same time, and his massage therapist was on time, but since I started 20 minutes after him I was stressed that he would be waiting around for me after, and that stress took away from my massage experience. My recommendation for this is if a client runs late for their appointment, rather than throw of the entire schedule by running behind for everyone else, explain to that client that their service will not be a full hour as they were late. I hope my critiques and recommendations could be viewed as constructive. I like Farashe and as a small business I want them to succeed. Not a great experience at this salon. My husband and I had booked a massage for my birthday as a special treat. After waiting for half an hour, I was told that that my massage therapist wasn't coming. They had already taken my husband back for his massage after telling us that it would be a few min for someone to come get me. After over 30 min of waiting, they told me that my massage therapist had an emergency. They still charged me for my husband's massage. It was my birthday and we never even would have come if we had known that I would just sit there for an hour while he got a massage. My husband never would have gone in at all had he known that this would happen. The surroundings are not particularly relaxing either, it feels like an office building. The staff were apologetic but at this point we had already gone out of our way to come in for what we thought would be a relaxing experience, and it was the exact opposite. I was quite vocal about my disappointment that I had to pay for a service that we wouldn't have booked at all had we known that it would turn out this way. The receptionist called the owner who agreed to refund us, but it was unfortunate that this wasn't offered as the first logical step. Also, it doesn't really make up for a terrible experience on what was meant to be a special outing. In the future, if two people come in for an experience together and only one therapist is available due to emergency, this should be made very clear - the circumstances are extremely rare when someone would come with their significant other or friend for a salon experience, and either party would be ok with just one person getting the agreed-upon service while the other just sat there and waited for an hour; that sort of thing really ruins the experience for both parties. I will say that the staff were very nice and tried to make me feel better. Policies could probably use some revising for situations like this. read more
