My massage therapist, Tara, was great! The extra touches she provided like the hot pads on my shoulders, feet, and abdomen were a pleasant surprise. I also personally like when a head massage is included in a full body massage. So when she included that it was also a nice treat. My only complaint (and I am hoping it was just bad timing on my part) was that it was NOISY! The room next door must have had the loudest client I have ever heard. She talked the entire time she was there. She laughed loudly several times like she was just hanging out with a friend. Very disrespectful to those of us seeking some silence. My therapist tried very hard to compensate. She turned up the music in the room and when that didn't work, she put on a white noise machine (which helped a little). The noise was my only complaint. I feel as if the therapist in the room with that client needed to be respectful of the entire practice and address this woman. I will go back again and hope that the noise level is not an ongoing issue. read more

The office is warm and welcoming, you are always greeted at the door. I have been going for MKT massage from Linda for years to help alleviate muscle pain and stiffness from spinal arthritis. She does full body massages, but adjusts and focuses more time on the areas most in need on a given day. I had a deep tissue with Sandy and she was perfect and professional. I have a lot of neck/ jaw/ shoulder stiffness from TMJ grinding and clenching and Got most of it alleviated in 60 mins. The room was very peaceful with rainfall sounds in the background. I really like how they put a face cover when you're facing up and a stomach weight. Very big parking lot so don't worry about that. It's a nice massage office. I got the ultimate deep tissue massage and also was having a bit of neck tension. Qingmei was the therapist and she talked to me about what brought me in and how much pressure i would like and problem areas. I asked her to put as much pressure possible and also there is a knot in my neck that needs to be massaged out. The massage was nice but she was very weak and barely applied any pressure. I made an another appointment with someone else and also added hot cupping to help alleviate the pain in my neck. read more

I came here because a friend gave me a gift certificate. I was excited after reading the reviews, and even more pleased when I stepped inside. Even in a office building atmosphere, the place is warm and welcoming. The staff are all so friendly, and I was greeted and taken care of immediately. The place is very clean, and although you know all rooms are turned over after each treatment, it was nice to actually see it happen with your own eyes. I had a 90 min warm oil massage with Sandi, and she was absolutely amazing. Took the time to hear out my preferences in the beginning, and really listened. Needed a massage and found this place with 5 stars. It was a lot more pricier than the average places that I went to. I made an appointment for a deep tissue for $95. The massage wasn't bad but it wasn't good. Deep tissue for me means a hard and firm massage but overall the massage was soft. I asked the therapist to do firmer but she kept reverting back to the soft massage. Massage overall was 4/10. Now the main issue. She charged me $115 and when I asked she said I had reserved the ultimate deep tissue, I had not. What I had reserved was the $95 deep tissue. But not wanting to argue I just let her charge me. This may have been one of the worse massage experiences I've ever had. The location is not super easy to find and when you call for help no one seemed to be able to direct. The woman I had seemed to be highly medicated or just unaware. The expensive massage was super to be deep tissue and I had to ask four times to increase the pressure for my shoulder and neck knots. I hate the feeling of counting the minutes until it's over and have definitely walked out of massages before but the pain kept me there waiting for relief. Would not recommend. Three words - A-MAZE-ING! (one word really). Never having had a professional massage before I was given a gift certificate for Massage Associates MD and went for the first time this past March, 2014. The person who gave me the gift recommended a 90 minute massage. This being my first experience I started out with the special they had going that month which was a 60 minute massage. It was extremely relaxing and I enjoyed it immensely. The next time I went I tried the 75 minute massage and that was really just a teaser. It didn't feel that much different from the 60 minute version. The next time I went I tried the 90 minute version and now I'm stuck. I have gone back at least monthly for the 90 minute version. The massage therapist will ask you if there is any part of your body that might need more attention each visit and if so, they will do some extra work there. They are also not just stuck doing one particular technique. I go for the Shiatsu but the therapist mixes other techniques into the session and after four months, going about once a month, I have experienced a significant difference in my well-being. I used to struggle every morning with lower back pain. It would take a good hour of being up and moving around before the pain would subside. No more. I had been putting off having surgery for my Carpel Tunnel pain. I can't recall the last time I had pain in my hands. Forget the surgery, just go to Massage Associates MD. The staff is very professional while being very personable at the same time. The massage they give is the full amount of time for which you've paid. Although Kara is my go to therapist, I have also seen several others there and they are all very good. If you've actually spent the time to read this whole thing then let me just end by saying this: Do yourself this favor - RUN don't walk to Massage Associates MD. You'll be happy you did. You can book your massage on their website. If they don't have the day/time you're looking for, I recommend calling them. I was able to book my massage the day before by calling them. I was able to find the location easily. If it's your first time here, I recommend calling them when you arrive because the entrance might be locked. There was a call box next to the entrance where you can enter in the code to enter. Then I took the elevator to the third floor and Massage Associates was on my left. I loved the whole experience. The massage bed was heated which was nice. I haven't seen that before. My massage therapist was very nice and friendly. She doubled checked with me about my problem areas before she got started. The whole vibe of the room was very calming and relaxing including dimmed lighting, scent diffuser, music and decoration. Massage Associates really cares about providing great customer service. I got the 60 minute full body massage. After my visit, I felt more relaxed and calm. She was also able to get two of knots out. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I recently hurt my neck pretty badly and the tightness/pain wasn't resolving even with muscle relaxants. I called Massage associates in the morning and they scheduled an appointment for me that day which was great. Many massages offices cannot accommodate same day appointments and that is really tough when you are hurting. I had Kevin as my therapist. At the start of our appointment he asked me what issues I had, questions, any limitations, possible causes, etc. Per my request he focused on the area where I had issues (neck, shoulders, back). It was a very pin pointed massage. Definitely not the sort of thing I expected having only had massages for relaxation in the past. He focused on neck and shoulders and specific areas where I was in pain. Because of the injury it certainly hurt at some times, but he was incredibly careful, and immediately responded, shifted or lightened when something was tender. Kevin is not a talker during massages. He is quiet and focused, so if you are looking to chat with or have an in depth conversation with your massage therapist, he may not be the right choice. I personally appreciated the quiet focus, and the results it yielded. The next day I was a bit worried because I was still sore, and perhaps in some areas I hadn't been before, but that was from the deep tissue work he did. But the day AFTER that, and this coming after 7 days of really horrible discomfort, the tightness and pain were completely gone. I could not have been more grateful for the complete relief. The office is small but welcoming. Everyone is very nice. Considering I have tried places like massage envy, etc, I highly recommend this office. Woke up feeing achey and decided to try to book a massage for myself and my husband. I called several places around and everywhere was booked or not open on Sundays. Wound up seeing Massage Associates on Google and the reviews looked good so I called and amazingly, they could see us back to back! We each has a deep tissue massage with Kevin (my hubs 60 min, me 90). The spa was very clean and the massage table was the most comfortable I've ever been on. Kevin has the most perfect massage bedside manner ever. He wasn't chatty unless I asked questions or wanted to point out a trouble spot...gave me an opportunity to relax. Trust me people, this massage is utter waste of your time and money! Since last two days I am suffering with neck cramp/ muscle pull and hence went to massage associates this morning thinking the massage will give some relief from pain, I gave all the details to Mr. Kevin Case regarding the cramp and the pain I am going through, he calmly made some notes and started the message which was ineffective, at the end of half an hour of massage there was no change in my condition! When I informed him about it, he calmly said "Everyone are different".. My boyfriend and I both got massages here back in the beginning of september, his was the stress relief massage while i got the swedish massage. we were both very satisfied and when we finished and shared our experience with each other, we can both agree that this place was well worth it! they take the time to talk to you before massaging you, giving you a chance to express your concern and which area you want focused on during the session. whereas other places I've been to before just get right into it, so the way they talk and ask questions before starting the session is definitely something i love about this place! overall, found NOTHING wrong, was VERY satisfied with absolutely everything, so 5/5 stars!
