There is a magic within at a place called the Asian Healing Spa and his name is Tom. Tom is a massage therapist whose literally helped me regain control of my life again where I am no longer totally debilitated by pain. I am being 100% honest when I tell you that as therapeutic healer, Tom is a true gift to this world . A uniquely-gifted practitioner, he has this rare (almost unworldly!) and extraordinary ability to intuitively discern the areas in the body where physical pain exists and HEALS it! I started seeing Tom once a week for a 1-hour massage several months ago upon the sudden onset of debilitating [muscular] pain in my back and my neck. It was destroying my life and my quality of life, and I was helpless to it ; Unable to find relief, l was at its mercy every single day . My sister (who is an acupuncturist) referred me to Tom and encouraged me to schedule an appointment with him. She said "He can help you. You have got to experience a massage with Tom at least once, Emily!," and so that's what a did. Initially, when she told me the business name, my first thought was "is this a legit?!"(feeling a little apprehensive). But she, similarly to Tom, also has "IT" when it comes to the ability to heal and I knew she wouldn't steer me in the wrong direction. And so, with an open mind and a hopeful heart ,off I went for my first massage with him. And she was right. He DID help me, and he continues to help me manage my pain every time i leave from an appointment with him. The part that Tom has played in my healing has been enormous and I give him a LOT of credit for helping me regain control of my life again ; A life where I am no longer controlled by my pain. A massage with Tom IS that "little magic pill" for a PAIN RELIEF (and the "pill" that we always hear doesn't exist!) Only it DOES exist for muscular pain relief and perhaps in one of the most unlikely places you'd expect to find it. I have wanted to write this review for such a long time now,..and I should have done it sooner....I struggled to find the words to verbalize my experience and the huge GAINS I've come away with from weekly appointments with Tom. I've achieved relief so powerful it has literally changed my life and afforded me with QUALITY of life once again. I was a little taken aback and disheartened to see ANY negative reviews posted about this business and I felt defensive for Asian Healing Spa upon first reading some of those comments . But, I realize now,... Not everyone is going to be capable of appreciating the gift that is in this place and it's healers. If you're looking for a run-of-then-mill bougie, ordinarily upscale spa where you will pay a fortune in exchange for minimal therapeutic gain,....and, if you cant hold space in your heart and have an open mind (without preset expectations) of what you think a "massage" or a spa SHOULD BE,...and, if you're going to go in there judging the structure of the massage rooms, the decor and the fixtures,....Then, it is highly unlikely you'll be able to appreciate the magic and the uniqueness this place has to offer us. You go on girl and head to that bougie spa down the road and rob yourself of the chance to experience the miracle. We are SO blessed to have this place (and it's insanely talented practitioners!) available to us locally within an arm's reach. I took my mother here for a Mother's Day massage. She got the combo package (30-minute body massage + 30-minute foot massage) for $90, which we paid for upfront. Before the session, they gave us a form where we could choose the pressure level, mark areas to focus on, and note any areas to avoid, which I appreciated because it made the experience feel more personalized. When we entered the massage room, the therapist did not want me to stay in the room with my mother, even though there were clearly two seats available inside. At first, they said, "Someone is sitting there," which made no sense because it was only me and my mom in the room. I asked who would be sitting there, and they went quiet before repeating that I couldn't stay. I explained that my mother does not speak English and that I needed to remain there to help translate if necessary. Instead of showing understanding, the situation became awkward and uncomfortable right from the beginning. As a customer, especially when bringing a parent who cannot communicate easily, I expected a little more patience and professionalism. Despite that interaction, my mother did enjoy the massage overall. It was her first professional massage, so she did not have many expectations going in. The therapist did pay attention to the areas she marked on the form and seemed attentive to the pressure and focus points she requested. My mother said she felt relaxed afterward, and I was happy that she at least enjoyed that part of the experience. Unfortunately, the ending completely ruined it for me. After the massage ended, as we were walking out the door, the therapist stood in front of the door and blocked me from exiting to ask for a tip. I understand tipping culture and I normally do tip for good service, but making customers feel pressured or physically stopped before they can leave is extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. It left a very bad final impression on me, especially after the earlier issue about me staying in the room to help my mother communicate. Overall, while the massage itself was decent and my mother enjoyed it, the customer service and handling of the situation made the experience feel uncomfortable and stressful rather than relaxing. For a place that provides services meant to help people unwind, I think they should work on making customers feel respected and at ease from start to finish. We will not be returning. I called to get an appointment for myself and my husband and was told that I could walk in and no appointment was need for foot massages for half an hour. Well we got here and apparently should have taken an appointment. At first they could only take one then they said take an appointment for after 2pm. There were plenty of women hanging around and we have to now drive back home 25 miles away. So gas and time was spent for no reason. DO NOT come here. Also, she had the timer set on 60 minutes, but she left the room twice, first time for 5 minutes, and second time about 3 minutes. I've been having a bit of shoulder and back aches, so I came here for a one hour massage. At first glance, this place doesn't look like much, located in a strip mall, nothing fancy or luxurious. They have simple comfortable tables, with curtain partitions. But this was exactly what I was looking for today! I am thankful that I called and the lady said that I can come over right away, without an appointment. They are clean and perform massages that deliver immediate, amazing pain relief, for a reasonable price. I am so happy that I feel much better after my massage! I came here before when my other massage therapist took off or I was feeling extra pain. Now, this is where I go every 2 weeks. Linda, Linda, Linda.... She is amazing. Whether you are coming for pain relief or relaxation, she's it. I wish I could afford to go weekly. I was truly impressed with this Facility. Suzanne my masseuse was awesome. I called with a strained calf seeking a sports massage. I was able to get in same day, the facility used great COVID precautions. The massage worked miracles not only in my calf but also on MANY other tense muscles (neck, shoulder, etc) I didn't even realize were so stiff. I was really excited to find a 30 min hand/foot massage at a place where Walk-in's are welcomed. I get there and the front desk person was sleep. Should've known then. Then when I walked in I was shushed. I was told that they would not take a 30 min massage because they don't want to turnover the room and sanitize according to COVID standards. The front desk women said 40 minute minimum. So if I added 10 more minutes you would take me. Either way you have to clean the room. Are you not cleaning the room any other time? This is unacceptable. It is not advertised on the website nor on the store front that there is a 40 minute minimum. After I leave I wait a while and I call to see if she corroborate the story. She states they are taking walk ins and when I asked for a 30 min session at 9, she lied and says they close at 9. When I correct her on her own store hours she says the county has an order saying they can only have 10 people in the store all day. Now I can understand 10 people at a time, but 10 all day is joke. I came here once for a massage and will definitely be coming back again. I have had muscle tension in my shoulders and neck for years and the masseuse put the EXACT amount of pressure I needed to release all the knots. Yes it was a bit painful, but I asked for med- hard pressure. The next day I felt sore like I had a rough workout, but the mobility in my entire body has increased. I got the muscle warming and lavender scrub add ons, but it may not be necessary as the scrub seemed fairly short. Each add on was $10 and it was $65 for an hour if you pay in cash. I wish I could afford to come more often because they know where and how to take the stress out of your body. The amount of time she spent on my back was insane, almost like she knew that's where the problem was. I was not expecting to be given such a thorough deep tissue massage, and I am tempted to do 90 mins next time. Definitely recommend this place if you want to relieve some stress! This is the place if you're looking for massage as a recovery tool (injury, etc), not for relaxation. I'm always SUPER tight and if I don't feel soreness within 24 hours of a massage, it wasn't a good massage. My appt was at 3:30 and I was feeling soreness by 9pm. EXACTLY what I needed. 90 mins was $95. The only downside was that the rooms aren't actual rooms. It's just a large space with solid partitions and curtains instead of a door. If you're shy, this is probably not the place you want to go. You'll hear the conversation of your neighbor and depending on how well your curtain is closed, someone might see your butt cheek. Oh yeah, the masseuses are not shy, which is such a nice change. I appreciate a full gluteus (butt) massage and that's what I got. As a runner, this is important to me. read more

I took my parents for a 90 minute massage but without any explanation, their sessions were both cut short to just 70 minutes without any justification or reasoning. The Chinese guy at the front desk didn't even apologize - nothing. My guess is that they probably had other customers that were waiting and wanted to maximize their profits by cutting my parent's massage sessions short so that they can accommodate the other customers. I went here on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. with a 7:15p appointment. I was looking forward to a relaxing time. I got the $65 massage with the addition of a heated body thing ($10) and aromatherapy ($5). The massage was nice. Performed by a lovely lady with SUPER soft hands Was scared she would focus on my feet, but she took it easy there. I got a medium, but should have went with a medium hard. The rooms were a bit uncomfortable as far as privacy. Only a curtain at the doorway and bathroom stall like room where you can hear people next door yelling on how good their massage is. It took me a minute to get comfortable in the room. After the massage an hour later, I was greeted by a very rude lady who pressured me into paying (i already had the money in my hand) and into tipping 25% of what was paid. It was stressful. On top of that, money from my wallet was missing and when I questioned the lady about it, she didn't double check the money handed to her to see if it was stuck or anything. So I lost trust in her. And felt the place was shady. I still tipped my masseuse, because it wasn't her fault the lady was rude and the masseuse was nice. But I got restressed after just paying $100 for this whole massage. First, I want to say I have been to this place many times over the years with favorable experiences. This place offers economical massages and until 4/28/23 I have never had any issues, until my massage on that said date. They provided me the laminated dry-erase sheet in which you identify problem areas, pressure of massage, any add-ons and your information. I selected medium and no add-ons. I circled my back and calves as problem areas because that is where I would like a little extra attention during my full body massage. I was prepared to go into my massage expecting to come out relaxed and feeling great. This was not the case, upon coming out my back hurts now (I did not have back pain prior). I was asked multiple times if the pressure was too much and I said "yes, lighter please" multiple times. I am a bit disturbed that during the massage the only two areas of my body done was my back and calves, never was I turned over on the other side. But the most concerning part was I was being stood on, my back walked across and massaged like this was some sports medicine massage/ dark aged medieval technique. This isn't the worse part though, the tech was using her elbow in my back, calves and behind my legs the entire massage. I am disturbed. MY body was flinched the entire time during the massage to the point of having to clench my hands and body. I was so relived when some areas were over because it was unbearable. I have never received a massage like this and want answers. Why was I being stood on? (why are you standing on the table with me?) Why was the elbow being used instead of hands? Why is my back so sore right now? It hut to wake up this morning. I paid money for pain, and discomfort? I am really disappointed in this place. You can also choose from soft to hard massage. The ladies are professional and my husband, mother-in-law, and all fell a-slept during the sessions. The place doesn't look like fancy 5-star hotel spa and massage places. It looks like just a house with several "rooms" separated by curtains and they add $10 if you pay by credit cards so they prefer cash. Also, the masseuses have difficulty speaking in English so it's kind of hard to understand if I have to turn around or something. It's still very relaxing though. Someone once paid for me to get a massage at a fancy spa in Downtown DC where I found religion. A few years later, I tried my luck at a massage place in a mall where a very hefty fellow did what felt like a bone marrow transplant. This place is a happy medium. It's basically a dollar a minute. I did an hour. At first I was a little worried. The lady kept rubbing the sheet on my back instead of my actual back with the same force you'd use to say "There, there. It's only money." I cried inside a little as I thought about how many years it would take before I could save up another $60. But that turned out to be her warm up routine. I will never doubt her thugnificence again. At some point that woman found a knot in my back that she couldn't get out with her hands. She tapped me to scoot over on the table a little bit and then (no lie) this maybe 4'11 woman hit one of those velociraptor-in-the-kitchen-of-Jurassic-Park leaps onto the table. She knelt down and put her elbow through the knot, the muscles, and the atoms in my back. By the time she was done, all of the tension that I was carrying around was in the corner on the floor crying. It's been about three days, and I feel like the lady put in a brand new spinal cord. Just like someone else said, the timer went off and she kept going until I guess she felt like she was done. I definitely didn't feel rushed. I get what someone else said about the "lenient draping." I was about 95% uncovered the whole time. I didn't get the feeling like they offer hepatitis or anything here, so it didn't bother me. Plus the way she was Krav Maga'ing the knots in my back, I don't think she meant anything by it. I'd give them 3 stars because I circled "relaxation" on the form, and this was more deep tissue, but I know I'm about 2 inches taller after all she did, so I'll give them 4 for being effective. read more

She was helpful, pleasant and did a good job of honoring my requests for during the massage. She made sure to cover each area and spend additional time on my problem spots. While the spa is not as polished as larger brand name spa stores, the service is good and the appointment process was simple. I did not have to provide my medical history or an emergency contact and I was able to book a same-day appointment. The only drawback was having to pay cash for the service as opposed to paying by credit. There is an ATM machine on-site, if you don't have funds available. This place was great! I'm glad I read the reviews before going and took out cash. They had a "Cash Special" where they decreased the price of services if you paid with cash. My masseuse was Lilly and she did an amazing job. Her bedside manner was great. She would softly ask if I was okay or softly ask me to turn. The amount of pressure used was great and she really focused on all of the areas I specified in the pre screening form. I added the heating treatment as someone else suggested in their review which was a great add on. They have other add ons like reflexology, aromatherapy and others. I'll definitely try some of the other add ons when I come back. I didn't have an appointment but they were able to accommodate me for an hour long massage. It was around noon on a weekday when I came. All in all I would definitely suggest this place. Just keep in mind to bring cash for your services and be ready to give your tip to your masseuse when you go to pay for your service at the end as they do stand in the door way. But one day when I was looking for a place to get a massage in Columbia, I checked out the Yelp reviews and was pleasantly surprised. As a result, I gave it a try and was too has pleasantly surprised. I've been back a few times and must say I've always been happy with my massage. It's easy to get an appointment here. They have great hours. And the quality of the massage is great. They definitely give you the time that you request and a few minutes over. My one suggestion is if you are conservative or shy about your nudity, this may not be the place for you sure to cultural differences. I didn't give them 5 Stars solely because they always pressure you to pay in cash (which you do get a discount for.) Did I mention,they have punch cards? About a week ago I was in desperate need for a massage, I typically go to Hand and Stone Massage spa in Columbia. On this particular Friday evening, I checked Yelp and sent out several messages for an emergency appointment and seeing as though most of the spas were booked for the weekend, I settled for the Asian Healing Spa. I read a few reviews on Yelp but opted to go anyways. BIG MISTAKE. I called and spoke with a young man that quoted me one price on the phone and then when I arrived the he shared that the price was quoted for cash clients only ($59.99), he told me that if I paid with my credit card it would be $65. I have to be honest and share that I absolutely cannot stand feeling scammed by any business and this time wasn't any exception. After being extremely stressed and driving from Baltimore, I ended up staying and trying the massage out against my better wishes and enjoyed it. Customer Service Extremely poor customer service on part of the young man who worked the front desk, he even looked like he was being deceitful regarding the services. I have one piece of advice for him and that is to treat customers right and most importantly be honest, most businesses get referrals based on word of mouth so do right by your customers and they'll take care of you and will ensure longevity of your business. The Ridiculous ATM Machine Due to the fact that they quote you a lower price over the phone and Im guessing that they have to pay monthly for their ridiculous ATM fee which is why they want you to use it when you get in the salon. I think this practice is unethical at its best and they should rethink their "marketing strategy" for when people call in.
