I've been visiting Dr. Shams for over 12 years. I can honestly say I've never met anyone else like him. He is not only an excellent physician with integrity who takes the commitment of his oath with pride but, hilarious and giving and super loving to all of his patient's. Going to a check up feels like a party with his staff members. I always feel better physically & my spirits are always lifted as well. He once viewed my labs even though I was out of network and no longer his patient. He gave me a second opinion and helped me advocate for myself with my new providers. He treats everyone like family. I absolutely love Dr. Shams and his team! I'm proud to say he's our family's physician ALL 4 generations of us! He's my grandparents physician, my mom's physician, and was my PCP until I was forced into an out of area HMO that he's not contracted with. Even though he's not contracted with my insurance I still go to him and even bring my kids to him when there's something going on. I trust him wholeheartedly and love his approach to treatment which is to find the root cause of the problem and not just treat the symptom. I've also seen Dr. Prechel in his practice and Dr. Young. Nora is in the front office and she has been a total blessing when we need to get my grandparents medications refilled. I decided to go to another doctor for second opinion after seeing this Dr Shams. He didn't diagnose correctly. Pills was the only way he says was going to help. Don't like his suggestions to health problems as for instance smoking marijuana or taking medicine that makes people feel high and happy. I question his suggestions he is not addressing the actual health problems. I noticed he has a very swanky looking office. I had an excellent doctor years ago worked out of a very old office and was very good doctor he didn't need all these frills to make him a good Dr. I didn't like his staff very negligent. Never return call backs. Instructions for tests incomplete. Sometimes staff was argumental. I don't recommend this Dr. Don't agree to take medicine without a second opinion!!! read more

I absolutely love My Doctor, Dr Shams is an amazing doctor! If you are looking to change or find a new doctor, believe me you will love Dr Shams. He does not sugar coat anything, he tell you the hard facts and solutions to your issues. I love how honest and sincere Dr Shams is. This is a training facility so you will always see and intern and then doctor Shams will come in and review the interns initial report. As a nurse it is important to me that I have faith in my primary care physician. I work with many doctors and patients and I know when a physician provides good care. I trust Dr Shams with my health and in turn he has seen me through some terrible health issues including a long hospitalization. I thought I had a good doctor until my experience Thursday. I've been a long time PPO patient (PPO = treated like a king everything paid for) but now no insurance (They call me "CASH" not patient). Knowing I had no insurance and this would be expensive I finally got upset and called what I thought was my doctor because I haven't been sleeping for the last week because of my leg and discomfort. She said I might have a infection but I had to deal with the pain and not be able to sleep and take care of my two little kids. The best part was when she tried to sell me her 600mg ibuprofen claiming hers works better than the 600mg I was already taking from a previous doctor(That was confusing). So, if your looking for a GOOD doctor maybe look somewhere else they seem to only care about $$ not the patient. She took my $75 no problem then should me door. I used to be a PPO patient and was never treated like this before. They took my $$ in 5 minutes but I waited one hour and ten minutes after that in the office before anybody even said anything to me. I'm on unemployment now and I guess I'm now a "CASH" patient because I have no insurance. It's almost like I can only drink from the "colored" drinking fountain now(from those outdated raciest 50s pictures you learned about in school and hoped no one would ever repeat). I can only receive substandard care now. The staff was rude when I talked to them on Friday telling me there was no doctor on site and no way of contacting her. She must of left the country or something. They even lied on my paper work and I could barley get my patient info from them. Even the front desk refused to give me the doctors license #. I wonder if she has one. These guys are a law suit waiting to happen. It has been almost a week now and I haven't been treated and she told me I have a infection. So, I guess I'll wait until it gets serious and I'm almost dead then maybe she will listen. What a horrible doctor. If you want a doctor that will listen to you and wants to help you don't go here. I'm having to go to the emergency room over this. No wonder our emergency rooms are so full. What a waste of time. I even called them before I went in. I have two little kids at home and could of use that money for them. Now some scam doctor has my money and I'm still sick with no medicine and out $75. They told me they could treat me. Watch out don't let them STEAL YOUR MONEY! Thieves! I'm am complaining to the California State Medical Board on this so look it up on their web site. read more
