I expected horrible service because I've been here before. It's been about 15 years since I had come and it was bad then and maybe worse now. Such a shame how much business this owner has driven away. $9 for a small guava gelato is what my daughter got. I asked if we could sample a flavor and the response was a cold "no". For $9 you should allow sampling. It's a shame that she didn't even finish it because she loves guava but she said it wasn't good and was icy. Let's me know it's not fresh. The gelato is amazing. I had a medium cup with two flavors- lemon and strawberry with a cone on top. Yes a cone on top, he's won't put the ice cream inside because they end up breaking. I've read a lot of the reviews about the owner and I think he's misunderstood. He's got dry humor and at first walking in I thought the same as all these other reviews that he's grouchy but, once you realize that's his personality/ he's actually quite a funny any interesting guy. He wouldn't recommend anything and he's right ppl taste things differently, or put ice cream in a cone lol but he was cracking jokes the whole time. The gelato texture and flavor is very high quality. He doesn't do samples, but if you ask him about the flavors the owner can describe all of them very accurately. For example: amaretto tasted exactly how he described (cherry, vanilla, and chocolate). The salted caramel and the tiramisu are also very tasty. Ordered the following: - 1 large cup (which I believe comes with 2 scoops) = $8.65 We asked for the Amaretto, Pomegranate Blueberry and Cafe Espresso. The elderly gentleman (owner) perhaps didn't hear us say Cafe Espresso, or we were only allowed to choose 2 flavors. Bummer as I was looking forward to trying the Cafe Espresso! My boyfriend tried this place before and warned me about the owner of this place (who is a former war veteran and customers would portray mix reviews about him). Oh the things I can say about Farley's. First off, let me say that the product is absolutely incredible. Probably some of the best ice cream I've ever had. However, I haven't given this establishment my business for quite some time now. My one and only complaint is the owner. His service, his attitude, the way he treats his employees and his customers is absolutely abysmal. He is rude and borderline verbally abusive to people. The man behind the counter was RUDE! The menu was as he put it " 4 years old and he can't reach it " so all the prices are 4 years old. we questioned the almost 10$ price for one 16oz iced coffee , he responded so rudely " the prices on our menu are 4 years old because it can't be reached . Unless you haven't been alive in 4 years, the cost of everything has gone up". The drinks were not good and one was made from a concentrated coffee when it should have been a drip. it is clean , I give them that much. Overall, was not worth getting off of the freeway for, let alone for the price of 20 for 2 drinks. Starbucks across the street was better and cheaper and the staff was so nice and sweet. read more

Place is extremely clean. My Fiancé and I went on a Sunday we had just had ramen and decided Gelato seemed like a perfect way to top our day off. We entered the establishment and waited a short while then the Gentleman who I assume is the owner greeted us. we did notice there is no pricing anywhere so we asked about the prices and he explained the pricing Small $8 something 1 flavor Medium $9.10 2 flavors and large $10.25 or around there for 3 flavors. Pricing is not bad when you take into account that it is not your regular ice cream it is hand crafted gelato ya'll made with fresh ingredients it's gonna be more expensive than your regular ice cream. The gelato was really good, smooth and creamy will definitely be coming back. read more

Farley's is not what we expected. With so many negative reviews we almost didn't try them. So glad we went anyway! When we arrived the owner and his friend were the only ones in the building. This meant we got to have a long convo. While the owner's political views are very open and his sense of humor is very dry, we had a good time chatting him up for almost 20 minutes! After our talk we got the strawberry and lemon gelato (pint sizes of course) to take home. While the prices were high, $15/pint, it wasn't unexpected. Both gelatos were amazing and lasted us a few days. The lemon tasted a bit like a more sour sherbet. It was delicious, but you really can't have a lot at once. We know we get some hate for this, but gelato just doesn't seem to be our thing and not as good as soft serve. We still say you should try out Farley's. Overall experience was neutral I was a little underwhelmed by the choices maybe in the summer they'll have more? The service was decent wasn't terrible wasn't good was just neutral there was nobody in there with us. There is a lady that came and got a tub of gelato for 30 something dollars, my son and I got two small scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone that cost $18 to me. That seems a little high the coffee prices seem more reasonable than the gelato definitely don't recommend if you're on a budget this is not the place to come. However, the pomegranate, blueberry and chocolate tasted very nice. however it seemed they might have been sitting for a while as it was thick or when gelato should be smooth definitely a try and see if it fits your taste, however we will try once more in the summer to see if there's any new flavors other than that if non-we won't be back. read more

What can improve? The owner Garys attitude and customer service. My sister in-law and I were waiting patiently at the counter while he held a conversation with customers ahead of us who already paid. Initially, I thought this was great because he seemed personable. The minute I got to him I ordered an ice coffee. Then I told him I was going to order a gelato but I was going to get the name of it. Now the display is built in 90° angle and gelato cases are split. So, I stepped away and told him I just wanted to make sure I got the name correct for the flavor. Again this takes no more than a second. In that short amount of time, he was heard telling me "no you come here" ... since my sister in-law and I were paying as one and ordering together she kindly told him "oh we are together". When I stepped back I asked him "excuse me? Sorry, I just wanted to make sure I told you the right flavor." .... His response: "why don't you just let me run my register the way I want, it's my store, my rules". We were so confused and didn't understand where this poor customer service came from, but to be disrespected the way we were was so wrong. We turned around and left immediately. Today I found this wonderful hidden gem in Lancaster. I'm actually embarrassed that I've lived out here in the Antelope Valley my entire life and have never seen this place before. I just really wanted to say how much I recommend this shop. I met Gary today who owns this place and explained to me the process of making this gelato and without even tasting it you can see the hard work and dedication that goes into his craft. He's 80 years old and has this place spotless and running better than ever. I got the double chocolate, cake batter, and cherry cheesecake flavors and they are all three Devine!! He also has dairy free and soy free options that looked super tasty. I'd also like to say that in the short time I spoke with Gary, I grew an immense amount of respect for him. This shop has a beautiful ambiance, excellent customer service, affordable prices and most importantly, the best hand crafted gelato you will find in the Antelope Valley!! I came here with my friend and noticed immediately the price menu was completely blacked out which should have been my first clue that the ice cream could possibly be overpriced. The old man def had a tone and the demeanor changed when he was not in agreement with ya.. but I would say I was polite and he was fine back. He doesn't wear gloves, but I've worked in fashion island Newport Beach and that gelato place doesn't either so.. I think handling a spoon is a bit different than scooping with his hands, I would say other reviews may have hit a nerve with both parties & it went a bit excessive. The gelato was good, but it didn't have the smooth texture that I've seen with fresh scoops. I doubt they get much traffic & the batches were probably there for a while. That being said, a med and large $19 was a bit much even in this economy. I'm sure that's what most places charge but I wasn't expecting it. Delicious gelato! This was my second time in and another great experience! I got the lemon sorbet and strawberry sorbet and both were great! My boyfriend got the apple pie and chocolate hazelnut.
