I don't care about nose rings, Slayer shirts, alleged side-eye or masks, like the one-star jabronis do. (I find one star reviews from people who have barely any posts to be questionable). I care more about the good selection, great service, air conditioned and well-stocked store, and big, delicious $10 sandwiches. However, the avocado roll was inedible- the avocado was crunchy. Two packages of Girl Scout cupcakes, two build-your-own deli sandwiches, hummus dip, 2 packages of avocado rolls, two bricks of cream cheese, two bottles of salsa, guacamole, tortilla chips, Fritos scoops, and a six pack of beer was $100. The Deli here makes the best sandwiches! The staff throughout the store are nice and very accommodating as well. I've asked for fresh basil and they've gone in back to bring out the freshest! If i could give a zero i would. I am so disappointed since i have shopped there for 5 years and today was rudely asked to put my purse up at the checkout area while i was shopping because it was too big. I was asked to leave my medium/large Louis Vuitton purse out of my sight to shop for a tri-tip. That would be an outstanding NO. I was just in 2 hours earlier to buy other groceries and was not asked then. My purse isn't even that big! Plus, i am a professional woman who would not even consider or have the need to shop-lift any goods. I am So disappointed and i will shop elsewhere from now on. And my friends will too! read more

Employees don't wear masks. They don't seem to care about the community. Clerks yelled "Its not the law".. No, its not the law but its the respectful thing to do, especially when they have a lot of elder shoppers. DO NOT TRUST SENTRY'S DAIRY!! I bought milk at Sentry in Shasta Lake and it didn't have an expiration date printed on it. I called and they didn't believe me. 5 stars for the BBQ they have Thursday through Sunday unfortunately they keep raising thier prices even before minimum wage took affect. Staff is always freindly and nice they are a full service grocery store the only one in shasta lake. The deli selections is as good as the bbq all made at the location take and bake pizza etc. read more

The star is for the service we had from everybody that served us (deli staff & cashier up front were friendly). Desperate for breakfast on the go and the neighboring latte stand did not have their breakfast menu available but this grocery store had a deli with breakfast burritos. The attendant heated the tortilla but the filling, a premixed meat, egg & potato combo in a bin had to have been cold. He made each one to order with cheese & salsa of our choice, which I hoped would make up for the filling. I took one bite and spit it out, my college aged son got 3 bites in and gave up and my husband never even unwrapped his after our experiences. Save yourself the money and bypass this deli. read more

This store has horrendous customer service. Around 8:30 p.m. my friend and I walked into the empty store to grab a few things. We were side-eyed and followed by workers the entire time we shopped. I walked up to the checker while my friend looked at the alcohol (both of age). The cashier waited to ring me up until she came back over and then rudely asked us if that was all. Confused, we said yes, and he proceeded to loudly and aggressively demand that he look in our purses. We put our purses down, both with nothing but our personal items in them. He gave the excuses that our bags were too big to walk down the alcohol aisle, his manager had given him the "side eye" about us, and that at night they were supposed to ask customers to leave their bags at the entrance? Regardless of age or the size of someone's bags, yelling at your customers and treating them like common criminals right off the bat is not the way to go about it. read more

Three things to know about this store/resteraunt #1 The BBQ grill outside the store is so good! He serves Thurs-Sun! We do date nights there all the time. The tri-tip sandwich is the best and it's less than 6 bucks. #2 The Chester Chicken served in the store tastes good but leaves my stomach upset every time (I have a strong stomach) #3 Everything else is basic small town grocery store; not cheap but not super expensive. read more

I was there with my friends who are all over 21 and we were looking at the alcohol section and an employee came up to us and stood there staring for a couple seconds and then asked if we needed anything and I said no were just looking and he just stayed there staring at us for a minute and then asked again if we were all 21 and we all answered yes and he stuck around just staring at us... I don't know if young kids go in to steal alcohol a lot or not but that was pretty stupid last time I checked you need an ID to check out when buying alcohol not when looking.... like we hadn't even touched anything. I felt really uncomfortable and he was also rude to us. And when we were getting in my car another employee came outside to watch us like that's ridiculous, we had already payed and they had seen our IDs. read more

I know. Right now you're thinking, "Woah, are you leaving a review for a grocery store?" It's kind of strange, I agree. However, I felt the need to contribute because I like this place. It's not huge, they don't have everything, and if you're looking for "organic" or "gluten-free" or whatever the latest fad is, then forget it. But this little gem has something that those big chain stores doesn't: personality. This is a true hold-over from a bygone era. The produce is super fresh, the bakery goods are too (jalepeno-cheddar biscuits!), and the people that work there all live in the community. It's not set up with huge signs marking everything, there's no starbucks, and there isn't a lot of annoying pop music being filtered into your ears. It's just a nice, clean store with aisles of yummy food - a lot of it made fresh. The people are kind and there's a barbeque outside where they'll grill a burger for you while you shop, if you want. It reminds me of the little family owned grocery that my mother used to take me to as a child. The butcher (also the owner) used to come out from behind the counter and talk to us every time we went (he was also a neighbor). We could ask if something could be ordered and the next week it would show up on the shelves...or even better, in a box in back labeled with our name on it that we could pick up. This Sentry is like that. It's a part of Americana that is quickly dying away and this is one smalltown girl that would hate to see that happen. So, if you get a chance, pick something up there. You won't regret it. And, I guarantee you that it'll do more good for the community than donating that buck at the register to the cause-of-the-day that the chain stores always ask ya for. :) read more

I get the premade deli sandwiches here all the time. They have large 3 meat sandwiches for only 4.99. Really good for the price. I'm also impressed with how much they have in such a small store. Pretty much can get all your staples here although it would be probably better to go into Redding for cheaper prices and more selection but if in a hurry it will do. Way better than Sunshine Market which I went into recently and found out it wasn't much better than a 7 eleven. read more

Friendly home feeling store. It nice to be able to shop where you feel welcome. Values of the old mom and pop stores of the past.

I feel like this store deserves 2.5 stars but there's no way to give a half star rating. Every time I'm here the employees aren't friendly and the tri-tip dinners are ALWAYS over cooked. We go out of our way to ask for one that's rare or at least medium well and always ended up with a burnt tri-tip. Tonight will probably be the last time we actually go there. Very tired of mediocre service and burnt food. Better off spending money and going to Raley's. read more

Be sure to check dates on products because they are often outdated. Clerks are friendly and they do have a decent selection of produce but it's expensive. Great for last minute items but not for a major shopping trip. read more

Just moved here and was told go check out this market. So I did. Tonight we received a check from the state of California for $96 . we were told they cash checks. Its a lie. We drove over there with our gas light on after we called to make sure they do cash checks and were turned away.....the manager is rude and obviously ignorant. I don't know what kind of community this is that he couldn't cash the check. We drive a hummer and now own a home in this community and were treated like we were criminals....I'm flabbergasted. I will let the state of California rehabilitation and better business bureau know that this man does not know what a state check looks like. My husbands arm was ripped off in an accident and California rehabilitation is trying to help him some dignity and return to work because disability does not pay enough to live. We moved here to get help for my special needs daughter and this is how we are treated. I will never recommend your store.....I'm disgusted. Thank God the rest of Redding isn't so rude. My daughter is now in an adult day care and thriving! Just for the record I'm a United States Postal worker and former law enforcement . NOT a scumbag like this useless manager. Run to any other market and be treated with dignity.this manager doesn't even know our state treasurer is John Chiang.....what a waste to this community....sunshine market is less expensive. read more
