There's a decent beer and wine selection, as well. I picked up a single-serve slice of lasagne with garlic bread in the deli section. My wife and I enjoy a charcuterie board with meats, cheese, veggies, and crackers (which we call a "snack tray") a couple of times a week, and Kent's is our go to place to get the goods. They have a fantastic selection of specialty cheeses and salami. It's the only place in Shasta County I've found that carries Molinari salami from San Francisco, which is the gold standard. They have a nice selection of craft beers that go great with their salami and cheeses. A real family feel to the place as well. There's a deli area with sandwiches, salads, and pre-made lunch and dinner entrees. We love Kent's! read more

This place is not R&R Meats (if you live in Redding you know that place) but often comes up in conversation when you talk to locals. It is a market in the true sense of the word in that it has a great selection of just about anything you could want. A great meat case, not big but a lot of different selections (found a brisket flat here, which you can't find in a lot of places). Cheese and cured meats for a charcuterie board? They got it. Sort of a cross between an upscale market and a convenience store. If you are in the area maybe stop in here and check it out. Also it is just up the street from the best nursery I have found around here, Wintour Gardens, so make a day of it and buy some plants there and stop here for some meats and vegetables to grill. Love, love Kent's but I can't believe their practices during this pandemic are so lax. The store is very small so it is almost impossilbe to keep 6 ft apart which in and of itself is concerning. Add to that is the fact that the vast majority of people-customers and employees don't wear masks. I'm not sure if the requirements to wear masks is a State or County requirement but regardless until they start practicing using the guidelines that make everyone safer, I will not be frequenting Kent's which is a shame. read more

Drove 20 minutes to get some locally farmed beef to make some homemade Meat Jeon because I was missing home and Kent's did not disappoint. The beef was quality and very affordable! I didn't go for anything else so I didn't really look around but I ran into a lady stocking the produce and all of it looked so fresh, like it was picked that morning. I LOVE Kent's. I asked the butcher for a bone for my 3lb chihuahua. I dont think he believes 3lb dogs exist. He returned with a 6lb stew bone. I giggled and had him cut it in half. This is what he returned with. Theres nothing better than a local market. read more

I have been a Kent's customer for over 20 years. I use to really enjoy their friday bbq but they have really gone downhill. I dont mind paying a "little extra" but they are really getting ridiculous. But it's the Friday BBQ that has really gone down hill. Their tri tip is either over cooked or really over cooked. It seems like everytime I ask for medium rare or rare its extremely over cooked. I paid $38.00 for a tri tip, two potatoes that were cut down or trimmed to about 2/3 size and overcooked to the point of being brown on the inside, and a small container of beans. I have sworn off their BBQ for the last time. No more for me. read more

Oh my goodness this place was such a pleasant surprise! I love the thought behind what they are doing here on Fridays. We came here after a regionals event while traveling and was told to grab some bbq. We are huge Bbq fans so we were definitely skeptical as we are originally from the east coast (don't hold that against me) and bbq is just different. We tried this place and man I'm in love! This was some of the best bbq Iv had in years! We also shopped in store for sides to go along with it. We kind of got a sampling of everything and honestly nothing disappointed. What a pleasant little gem. We found it on a Dog Friendly app and cross-referenced it to Yelp. There are picnic tables next to the soda machines and another one out under the trees in the parking lot. We assumed that this was a sandwich shop/grocery store. It's primarily a grocery store with some ready made sandwiches, salads and other dishes right in front of you when you walk in. Over on the left side is the help yourself broasted chicken, fries and soda fountains. The best part of our visit was meeting Kent's son. He was a chatty guy who noticed that we were wandering around looking for a sandwich shop. Son immediately ripped open a bag of their homemade pastrami and insisted that we sample it. De-lish!! As we were eating at the picnic table, son came over and asked if he could give our little poodles a few bones. Even the dogs made a score. The chicken oriental salad was de-lish. This review is in regards to the propane services only. Because I love the market very very much the foods are amazing the little workers are wonderful and kind and thoughtful and I can't say anything wrong about the market, this is regarding the propane and the young man that fills up the propane tanks so please keep that in mind. So I've been having my propane tanks filled for 6 years now I live routinely in my RV I'm a travel nurse. They always take 7.2 gallons whatever the weather whatever happens they always take 7.2 gallons. So I made the mistake of telling the young man that so he purposefully shorted me a half a gallon so he could be correct cuz he said they will only take 7 gallons and I said no they really actually take 7.2 so to prove his point he purposefully stopped the fill at 6.7 gallons and so he shorted me a half a gallon of propane. so I'm going to have to come back earlier than I normally would have to because his ego would not allow him to fill my tanks the way I say that they are filled, and the way that everyone else in the world fills them. Every single time that they're ever filled even at your store they take 7.2 gallons so as a result of that young man and his ego and his arrogance, I will now be getting my tanks filled at fast rack down in Anderson because not only are they the same distance from my house as you are, but they're 90 cents cheaper per gallon. So I guess I should thank the young man for his ego and his arrogance and be glad that now I'm going to be saving six bucks on my fill. There you go read more

Kent's has been a great neighborhood store for decades, where you would find a great meat counter, Deli, selection of craft beers, & any last minute item you were out of.. But, you won't find their employees (including the owner) wearing face masks or taking pretty much any precaution (other then a plastic shield at the check out) to help keep their customers and employees safe while in the store. You will find the store crowded by narrow isles and many customers (almost none who are wearing face coverings), who will stand right next to you as you continue to try to maintain a distance from them. You will find yourself pointed out and commented about by the customers and staff for wearing a mask and being considerate of others who may not be able to survive this horrible disease. Given Kent's obvious lack of concern about basic health safety in their store, I now have very serious concerns about what other basic hygiene steps are too burdensome to follow in their butcher shop, deli, Friday BBQ, etc.. Sadly, there is one more thing you won't find in Kent's in the future.. Me Stay Healthy! read more

When visiting Wyntor Gardens next door I finally stopped by your market to see what you had to offer. Nice selection of meat and produce. I usually shop R and R because they are the empitome of a true meat market and are solid. I have to say you have a older brunette employee who rubbed me the wrong way when I bought cookies from a home cook in Anderson. Yes the cookies were not cheap but she did not have to rub my nose in the fact that they were and I could easily make them myself at home. I know I can and have several times. That's not the point...it was about supporting community. Maybe inform your staff to be more supportive of the products you offer to the public. read more

Stopped in because of the reviews on Yelp. Did not disappoint us. The food was great and the employees were very helpful. We are driving home to Tacoma from visiting San Francisco. The weather is raining and winding so we did not get to sit outside in the seating area but that's okay! We just warmed up our food and ate in our car. We had jambalaya, chicken and dumplings and some really delicious and unique Chinese Chicken Coleslaw. All in all I am glad we stopped and took a chance on a grocery store for some home cooking on the road that I don't think we would have gotten at a run of the mill all American restaurant. Kent's saved my Christmas! I had purchased some very expensive steaks from a very well known meat and seafood store in downtown Redding. When i opened the packages of steaks from this other store I was very upset that although I had purchased the steaks, in about 24 hours, they had gone bad! Sticky and rancid, non consumable, they were to be served for Christmas Eve dinner! Thankfully Kent's, although quite a ways from where I live, was open! It's all about America. Three stars instead of four because I hate Kent's checkstands. Small. Too close to the front door which interfers with those coming, those going and those waiting in line. GET THE PICTURE? Not enough room for everything in the basket. You unload your own stuff. Having worked in the grocery biz at an early age through college from experience this is not customer service at its best. Kent's is sooo class in every other way but this. But the drive there is worth it if only for their meat. Great selection of Prather Ranch grass fed organic beef. Why eat crap meat raised on a steady diet of growth hormones and pesticides when for about the same price or maybe a little more you have the best for you and the best tasting beef around? We bought our 2nd side of beef here recently and We could not be happier. Kent knows what he is doing in the butcher department! The cuts have been perfect, the meat is well marbled and more than delicious, try melt in your mouth ambrosia! I had my deer processed here. Outstanding service. Very secured meat locker, employee took the deer from my vehicle without me lifting it, called to get order and had it ready in 2 or 3 weeks. Received a worksheet with details regarding total weight at drop off, number of packages and cut, and fees for the added pork for the Summer Sausages. At pick up, employee stayed with me until it was all put in a cooler. Can't say how great this service has been. My brother had the opposite experience in Alturas having his meat processed. Never knew having a deer processed could be so different. Keep up the great service by keeping the site secured and a clean operation. read more

My family and I were heading down to the bottom and were thinkin of lunch. Since I had never experienced a kents sandy and had heard nothing but good I decided to stop and give um a shot. I usually judge all sandwiches by how they measure (literally) up to Raleys on lake blvd sandys. Raleys does NOT PLAY AROUND when it comes to there hoagies. You get a full for 11.00 and its close to 16" long with plenty of great quality ingredients. My wife, 11 yr old daughter, and I share a full. This could vary pending on the builder, but expect to get what your payin for. Anyway back to kents. We walk in and its fairly busy. Make our way over the the deli and lookin at the sandwiches they look good. Checkin out what kinds they have and then I see the price! WOW! $9 each and about half the size of raleys. You can get a sandwich twice as big at Raleys for 2/3 the price of kents. Then we checked out the sides, that actually looked pretty good, but once again EXPENSIVE! I don't know if they put gold flakes in there potato salad, but they sure charge like they do. After speaking with my father in law, who happens to live close to the market he explained how he doesn't shop there any more because they are much pricier than other grocery stores in town. After seeing that, and actually caring about getting a good deal for what I am paying, we left. Probably never to return unless there are no other options. kents has become to me like a place I go if its Thanksgiving day, NOTHING else is open, and I need something in an emergency. Other than that I will keep driving right on by no matter what it is I am looking for. Bummer I had really hoped to try out there stuff that I had heard about. P.S. As far as hanging/processing game Clear Creek has always done me right. They made me 40lbs of bear sausage that was off the charts good! At a great price to boot. read more
