They should all know about this farm! This is the store and farm for Thompson Farms; they also sell their stuff at Whole Foods, from my short bout of Googling about them. First off, Google Maps lies - this is way further down Dixie Rd, and you can't miss the sign. Luckily, the people at the store talked me through getting there the first time around, and they were super helpful. You'll come in on a well-kept dirt road, and see some of the best real estate given to pigs anywhere. No uninviting "Ew, this is a meat farm" smell, because they're fair about taking care of their pigs; they do it right. The products are somehow both cheap and amazing. Even the mild sausage has a bit of a kick, and the way it fries up was a revelation to me the first time I cooked it. You'll get an amount of drippings equal to what you get out of your average bacon - perfect for making a killer gravy, sauce, or soup. Speaking of bacon - it's very high-quality, traditional (no, there aren't three different wood smoke variations or, sadly, thicker cuts), and under six bucks for a pound. They even had some free-range eggs from the farm, good stuff. I haven't had the ribs, ham, or pork steaks yet, but considering this visit, that's on the agenda for later. Give these guys your money, put way better food on the table, and give the factory farms the boot!

I had pulled chicken with crispy Brussel sprouts that feature a maple glaze. Person with me had brisket. We ordered, hot plate of deliciousness was before us in under 10 minutes. Everything piping hot, bursting with flavor and generously portioned. My sides: the mac & cheese was best I have ever had! And the crispy brussels were amazing. So much chicken, could not finish it. Juicy, smoky flavor. And their sauces are amazing compliment, although it did not need it! Brisket also tender, smoky & delicious. Only thing I did not enjoy was the slab of bread. We were seated right away and started with the jumbo onion rings--they were cooked perfectly and tasted so good dipped in the BBQ sauce. I had the sausage with mac & cheese and fries. The mac & cheese was amazing (the consistency was spot on) and the fries are super unique because they use their meat rub on them. My partner got the brisket plate with coleslaw and sweet potato; the brisket was nice and lean. Even the kids were happy! They had the child's sausage and pulled pork plates. The atmosphere is totally kid-friendly and our waitress was outstanding. We'll definitely be back!

The line upon arrival was at least 15 to 20 deep, but it moved so quickly. If you arrive to a wait, do not let it deter you. They hustle!!! It was just a short wait for our food to be freshly prepared. We both opted for the same sandwich with different bagel flavors. The sesame bagel was absolutely loaded with sesame seeds. There's nothing worse than a bagel that claims to be a "sesame" bagel that only has a sad smattering of seeds across one side. This bagel was absolutely loaded up. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, loaded with a huge portion of scrambled egg , this breakfast sandwich was enough for two people to share, but we did not! I would literally drive up to Thomasville from Tallahassee again just for the sandwich. You cannot beat their price point. This breakfast would be twice as much in Tallahassee as it is at Empire. Empire has a quaint, local NY bagel shop vibe. You can order bagels for the office or just a sack to take home. The assorted smears have something for everyone, with Canoli flavor being a bonus for your sweet tooth. I'm already planning a lunch trip in the near future.
