A+ experience at this restaurant. Came here on a Sunday night with the family.. They do offer a good kids menu, with items ranging in the 10-12 dollar range. We came during the San Diego food week, so i had to the try the Pork shank that came with garlic mashed potatoes, and side of cooked spinach. Very good. Pork was melting off the bone good. Spinach was a bit over salted but otherwise good. Service was excellent as well. Wife had one of there signature salads, she stated was very good. We also tried the fried calamari. I usually end up with the very mediocre margarita pizza. Unfortunately, the food didn't back that up. We went for breakfast, and the eggs didn't taste fresh. More concerning, the "maple syrup" turned out to be corn syrup with maple flavoring -- not something I want to see on a table marketed as farm-to-fork, and not something I want to feed my kids. The pancakes also fell flat, tasting more processed than fresh. Overall, nothing about the meal reflected the farm-to-fork image the restaurant promotes. I totally slept on this place for years and now it's sure to be in my regular weekend rotation, especially since it's so close to home. Why I slept on it, I don't know, but I'm am sleeping no more. Really wanted to like this place. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and the staff was friendly and attentive. My wife enjoyed her pizza, but unfortunately, my pasta carbonara missed the mark. It arrived oily with a scrambled egg texture--something that shouldn't make it past the kitchen. Had the pleasure of visiting Farmer's Table today. The decor is awesome (there's a literal tractor in the restaurant), it gave off a very welcoming vibe. We got there early so there was no wait. We ordered the Classic Egg Benedict with Arugula Parmesan potatoes and the Steak Omelette with house potatoes. The food was decent maybe because when it arrived it was partially cold for both plates, which I feel like impacted the overall experience. Today my coworkers and I went out to have lunch here at farmers table, high reviews, a few of us had been there previously and had good experiences so we decided it would be a great place. Well as one of the girls got up from the table she kicked this LIVE cockroach over on its back . We called waitress over and she had to kill it and clean it up. She did move us to a different table but that was it. She then told us at the end of the visit that she let her manager know the situation and was sorry. Nothing compensated, manager didn't even come to our table to apologize. We were incredibly grossed out but had already put in our food order and just hoped for the best. I will not come back to this establishment unfortunately but wanted to make people aware. Be careful, unsure how clean it really is. read more

The food was cold, my omelette was overcooked and my sister's egg serving did not seem like 3 eggs as advertised..we had to flag down the waiter for more coffee and the bill. I walked here after the La Mesa car show since it's conveniently only a couple short blocks away. The restaurant is pretty with a lovely outdoor patio, an indoor/outdoor bar area, and a spacious and well-decorated interior restaurant. The bar staff was friendly, helpful, and provided quick service. They make a great margarita and have a good selection of wine. The food was unfortunately a disappointment. We first ordered the artichoke appetizer, not pictured, and it was entirely inedible. I regret not getting a picture. It is essentially two long artichoke stems with very small hearts that were fanned out and burned. The whole thing was hard, near impossible to even cut, and absolutely drowned in the most overpowering lemon dressing I have had in my life. There was a very long piece of bread down the middle of the plate that was very dry on the ends, soggy with the lemon sauce in the middle, and burnt on the bottom. We couldn't eat it. We then ordered the prosciutto bruschetta, pictured, which was fine though the prosciutto was a bit dry. If you are coming for drinks, this is a very pleasant setting with lovely staff. I'd recommend going elsewhere to eat. read more

We live nearby and have been regular customers of Farmer's Table, but unfortunately the service has declined significantly. We recently brought friends visiting from Los Angeles for brunch over the weekend. The restaurant was not busy at all. The host greeted us promptly and seated us right away, which was a great start. However, after that, things went downhill quickly. About 5-10 minutes after being seated, a busser brought us water. Another 10 minutes passed before our server finally came to the table. There was no greeting, acknowledgment, or apology for the nearly 20-minute wait. We were ready to order both drinks and food, but the server insisted on taking only drink orders first. One member of our group requested a Mexican coffee, which traditionally includes a shot of tequila. The server immediately responded with an attitude, saying it was no longer on the menu. I asked if the bar could simply add a shot of tequila to a regular coffee since Farmer's Table has a full bar and experienced bartenders. She refused without offering any alternative, so we settled for regular coffee. At this point, we had already been there for 20 minutes and were ready to order our meals. Another 10 minutes went by, and instead of returning to our table, the server was taking food orders from another table that had just been seated. After sitting there for over 30 minutes with nothing but water--which we had already finished--and still no coffee or opportunity to place our food order, we decided enough was enough. Our entire group got up and left. We informed the hostess before leaving. To make matters worse, I've since seen multiple reviews mentioning roach sightings. Between the unacceptable service and those reports, we won't be returning. There are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance that will gladly receive our business. read more

Then the remake was undercooked. And had a lot less cheese and toppings. Manager said that's just the way it comes. No apology or anything. I won't be back! I genuinely do not understand what our server's issue was with us, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had strictly because of the service. This was my second time at Farmers Table La Mesa. The first time I came, everything was amazing and our server was attentive, kind, and welcoming, which is why I decided to come back. The food this time was still phenomenal, but our server, Luis, was unbelievably rude from the second we sat down. The attitude started immediately. He rushed us while ordering, cut us off while we were speaking, and acted irritated that we were even asking questions. Mind you, our order was not complicated at all. I ordered the birria omelette, my friend ordered the pulled pork omelette, and we shared the Nutella pancakes. That was it. The entire interaction felt hostile for absolutely no reason. He rolled his eyes at us repeatedly, slammed our drinks and plates onto the table hard enough for us to notice every single time, barely spoke to us, and walked away before we could even finish talking. When he brought my lemonade, it was noticeably smaller than what I received on my previous visit, and he practically threw it onto the table with an attitude. What pushed this experience from rude to completely unacceptable was overhearing him making comments about us in Spanish. I understand enough Spanish to know we were being called "ugly Black girls." As African-American women who came in respectful, well-groomed, and completely polite the entire time, that was honestly humiliating and disgusting to hear. There was absolutely no reason for name-calling or racist comments of any kind, especially in a language he assumed we would not understand. The worst part is that after dropping off the food, he completely ignored our table for the rest of the meal. My food was slightly underseasoned, and I couldn't even ask for salt and pepper because nobody checked on us once. Not one time. We had to keep trying to flag down bussers for help, and even then nothing really got handled. When it was finally time to pay, the host from outside literally had to come get Luis because he had disappeared. Then while I was paying, he snatched my card out of my hand in such an aggressive and dismissive way that I genuinely sat there wondering what we had done to deserve being treated like that. I have never written a Yelp review before, but this experience genuinely upset me. I left feeling disrespected, uncomfortable, and honestly embarrassed. The saddest part is that the food was SO good, which makes this even more disappointing. Farmers Table seriously needs to do a better job making sure their servers know how to treat people with basic respect and decency because no customer should ever leave feeling degraded the way we did. read more

So this was my first visit to Farmer's table and I really wanted to love it. The ambience was lovely in the service was great . We had an outdoor table on a very nice day. I wasn't as excited about the food that we ordered . I got the smoked beet salad and added the pecan chicken. The salad was drenched with dressing I would ask for the dressing on the side. I didn't care for a flavor in the salad maybe it was the smokiness... honestly, the chicken was a little dry as well. My friend got the prosciutto Burrata pizza and honestly, the burrata a little too moist for the pizza it makes it soggy. The crest looked like it was good before the Burrata was placed on the pizza . Maybe we just picked the wrong items. They're both a salad and the pecan chicken got good reviews on other yelp reviews.... My other friend really liked her turkey sandwich and her fries were good . We come here all the time because the food is usually great, but today's experience was very disappointing. We arrived around 1:30 PM, and surprisingly it was not busy at all for a holiday. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us and only drop off water -- no introduction, no communication, nothing else. Then after waiting another 20 minutes, the waitress finally came over just to take our drink order, even though we were never given a drink menu. Meanwhile, two tables that were seated after us were already getting their drink and food orders taken by Lucia. At that point, we were honestly confused about what was going on. Good service is about communication and making guests feel welcomed, and unfortunately that did not happen today. Spending 30 minutes sitting there with almost no service was frustrating and a waste of our time. Management: it's important to coach and support your team because experiences like this can easily cause loyal guests to stop coming back. read more

We loved the food, so we tried the La Mesa location after the CV location rebranded. Service here was also poor. We were seated right away, but it took about 30 mins until our server even came to bring us water. We were also sat with unwashed silverware, which was disheartening. Server gave us our food, and never came back. We had to ask another server to bring our check. We got our usuals - farmer salad add steak & breakfast burger - and my salad was good! Consistently good at both locations. The breakfast burger....not so much. The egg was literally so small, and we understand the crisis with egg prices but it was extremely disappointing. I placed an order for pick up because it was about 815 and I did not want to go in there late so I couldn't decide between three different pastas.
