Farmhaus Burger in downtown Augusta delivered one of those quietly satisfying Saturday night experiences where the neighborhood feels packed to the edges but the restaurant itself gives you room to breathe. Parking was its usual Broad Street challenge, yet once inside there was plenty of space and an easygoing rhythm to the dining room. The only real hiccup was the slightly counterintuitive flow of things, since you order first and then find a seat, and I wasn't the only one who walked in and paused awkwardly until someone pointed out the process. I've said for a while that you should stick to what a place is named for, because ordering chicken wings at a pizza shop or a barbecue joint has burned me more than once, but tonight I ignored that rule and it turned out to be the right call. Mrs. K took down my side of fries with enthusiasm while I focused on the wings, meaty and generously sauced, the kind you finish without a second thought and then sit back with a local beer feeling like you made exactly the right choice. Gourmet burger joint. Walk in at lunch and you can tell that it's extremely popular. Service was quick despite the crowd, and the big juicy burger and fries were delicious, it's a lot of food for about a typical gourmet burger price. I like the old buildings downtown. There is no better service than sitting at the bar and being waited on by Jen or Yaz! We love them both. They are so nice, friendly, and interesting to talk to. We usually get the house burger with a salad (which is always fresh and crispy) and the fried jalapeños. Tonight we tried the slaw dog and it was delish! The jalapeños were on point tonight as well as the onion rings. The beers were super cold as usual thanks to the chilled glass. There is a gluten free bun option (locally made) and it has a great texture that held up and didn't crumble. The sauces is where it's at here! Today 9/25 I went to Flowing Wells location with wife. When getting our order, my hamburger was not what I paid for. Th waiter apologized saying he would correct this. Me wife ordered wings which were not fully cooked as she likes them crispier. Once receiving my correct order, and I know they advertise juicy burgers but mine kept falling off the bun. What have I done? So often I visit this house of farm and burgers yet so long since I have last reviewed! But no more. I will now rectify this atrocity. There are a few food items I could eat weekly (maybe even daily) and never tire of. Burgers are one of them. This is due to their versatility in options. The bun could be a plethora of breads (or even a lettuce wrap). The patty can vary from beef to venison to bison. And toppings, well that is infinite. So when I'm in the mood for a quality burger (which is quite often) I come here. Their regular burgers always hit the spot and then if I want something different I either order the speciality burger or venture over to the grilled cheese options (I favor the Yankee). And what is a good burger without delicious sides? Fries, fried jalapenos, sweet potato tots, and fried pickles are just a few options. And if you know me, you know dessert is always on the docket. This is when I almost always go for the speciality shake. Those seasonal flavors are always on point. When I'm on the go, I order curbside pickup. But I prefer to enjoy it onsite (and via their outdoor seating). But if the place is packed just know the bar is full service so you can enjoy your meal there as well. I wanted to try this place because it does basically everything that I, a vegetarian, would ask: distinctive, local, customizable options. They have not some lame store-bought veggie pattie or some weird New Age fake meat, but instead a veggie burger based on Sea Island red peas, a local heirloom plant. There were a lot of those peas in this burger, as well as quinoa and some discernible vegetables. I got the standard veggie burger configuration (which does include aioli), but ample customization options were available. You could get a burger on a salad if you wanted to (though I wish their salads were more diverse), so it wouldn't be hard to do gluten-free or vegan. And yet, you can still have a quality experience. My burger didn't come out immediately, but I don't mind waiting the ten minutes for someone to do some substantive food preparation. A side of fries was as greasy and skin-on tasty as one might expect. Ordering the combo offered some fountain drinks with extra sugar I didn't want, but unsweet tea was also available. The store was a large corner space with indoor and outdoor seating. I'd even to the other location years ago and it was very good so I figured while I was downtown with my son today we'd stop by since we are both big burger fans. Luckily we got in right after lunch so there was no line. Plenty of seating and the place was nicely decorated to not feel like your average burger joint. Every ingredient used is high quality. The burgers are huge, so you definitely get some bang for your buck. As usual, Farmhaus is a delicious Augusta staple. One of the best places to go with coworkers on a lunch break, since there is something for everyone! We didn't have any trouble finding a seat for our party of 5, and service was surprisingly fast for the lunch rush. The last few times I had a beef burger, I thought they were very tasty, but also heavy and greasy- not the ideal meal for a middle of the workday lunch. This time, I got the Wild Turkey burger, and I don't know if I'll ever go back to beef! It had the burger taste but without the grease. Pretty disappointing experience at Farmhaus burger today. Decent sized restaurant, unfortunately most of it was taken up by people standing in line for all of lunch. I walked in at 12:25pm on a a Tuesday, and didn't get to the register to place my order until 1. No joke - 35 minutes just to place my order. The food took another 15 minutes to come out. I ate as quickly as I could - but start to finish it took an hour for lunch... a bit excessive for a burger joint. Not to be nit picky, but the tables and counters were all dirty and sticky, and the whole place didn't seem particularly clean. As for the food - I ordered a fountain soda, single patty burger, and onion rings. Not kidding the worst onion rings I've ever had. Rather than being light and crispy, they were heavy and crunchy - more like a tree bark than a batter. There was some flavor in the batter - salt and cracked pepper... but the texture was overwhelmingly bad. The burger was decent. They got my order wrong (I ordered cheese, ketchup, mayo, yellow mustard, lettuce, tomato, and pickles) - it came with Dijon mustard, no ketchup, and no cheese. I had waited so long at this point that I wasn't going to send it back. The patty was generous and thick. Despite being a bit overcooked for my liking, it was seasoned well and still juicy. The lettuce and tomato were fine - not horrible, but certainly not what I would've expected from a farm to table concept. The house made pickles were a nice touch - tangy and crunchy. My meal was only $14, which is the reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 - the serving sizes and flavor of the burger were respectable, even if the rest of the experience wasn't. read more

However, this time, when the girl brought me my food she wasn't all that polite. She put my food down, grabbed my table number and stated to walk off. Let me just say--this was easily one of the top 5 burgers I've ever had! It was juicy, loaded with toppings, and very flavorful. The fries came in a massive portion (plenty to share with 2-3 people), and they were delicious, though next time I'd probably stick with the regular fries. The service was fantastic--friendly faces behind the counter--and the restaurant itself is housed in a really cool, historic building.
