We love having farmhaus cider close to where we live. They had a special for Valentine's Day- $35 igloo rental with a small "surprise" included. We took advantage of this deal as a family of four for lunch. The business model is bring your own food, or they usually have a rotating food truck to choose from... today was savory or sweet crepes. The place feels special. Rustic, nestled in the woods with an old abandoned home and renovated barn. However, on this sunny 40* day it's wise to wear boots or shoes you don't mind trekking through the mud from the parking lot to the cider barn. The igloo's were nice, hot today with the sun. We turned off the heater and stripped down to our t-shirts. The kids had fun drinking the NA cider and I enjoyed a couple of pints of the dry cider. The picnic table inside easily sat 4 of us and had room for board games to play. The "surprise" was a homemade cherry cream puff with drizzled chocolate on top. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, a great experience for a low key Valentine's Day lunch with our little family. That cream puff though... it really was the cherry on top! Check it out if you want a different experience. We were extremely excited for this experience! We decided to visit during one of the snowy days we had to get the full experience renting out the igloo. To get here you go down a dirt road and pull up to a farmhouse and the cider building. The concept is renting an igloo either a dining one or a lounge one and enjoying a meal or drinks inside of it. The location provides a list of food trucks available on the days you plan to visit given that reservations for igloos have to be made ahead of time. There are parking spaces available but not paved and limited. There was a spot for handicap parking which I appreciated. I do suggest during winter weather that the area be a little more clean for both the handicap parkers and those in the other spaces too. Maybe a paved walkway to the igloos or Farmhaus. Igloos can be reserved ahead of time on their website. Each one is available for 50 minutes giving staff a few minutes in between to clean for the next group. The cost is $15 per 50 minutes and your card will be charged when you reserve and it's non refundable. Our reservation was for 3pm and they do tell you on the website to arrive early to order your food and drinks. This amazing concept of having food trucks on site while the location provides the purchase of beer/cider. But it only works if everyone is on time. The day we reserved their online calendar details what food trucks will be onsite. That day it was Pizza Parlament the Green Truck. We arrived at 2:40 to get some non-alcoholic cider, donuts, and check in for our igloo and order our pizza. The food truck wasn't open until after 3pm. When it opened we placed our food order right away 2 pizzas and breadsticks with no cheese. We did not get our pizza until 3:55 and since it was past our igloo reservation time we were not able to enjoy our food in the igloo we rented. Although the igloo was very warm with its own heater and was clean, we were really bummed we had to pull our kids out to eat inside the Farmhaus which was already very crowded given there was a party going on inside and all the seating was picnic style. We did ask the staff if there was a way we could enjoy our food in the igloo but she said no because they were pre booked which is understandable. She did offer us a coupon for two free drinks for a next visit but we don't drink and unfortunately didn't like their hot cider but it was a nice gesture and we felt acknowledged. We did purchase some donuts that were so soft and flavorful we LOVED them! Unfortunately, I think the timing wasn't met today. The website showed the food truck available starting at 2 for orders when it actually wasn't. Overall the experience of the igloo was good and we would hope to try again but maybe bringing our own food seeing as it's an option listed on their website. read more

This venue definitely feels like it's in the middle of no where but it's super close to Grand Rapids. They have signage but you have to be looking for it so you don't pass the street. Casual setting in a woodsy venue, highlighting hard cider from their family-owned farm, plus there was a Pizza food truck and a food truck for the puppies to even get goodies there today as well! YES puppies are welcomed and there is plenty of space for them. Loved that they are open year round. We enjoyed the " I don't know if I like cider yet " flight and took in the surroundings. My favorite from today was Skinny Dip Sunset and the salted Carmel. Loved that they had fresh flowers on ALL the tables and the QR code to raising roots flower farm of interested in going to Jension. Bouquets and stems get restocked at Farmhaus Farms by them for purchase so go grab your flowers, a flight, and baked goods (the best donuts in West Michigan I swear). I love that they also had a s'mores kit available for purchase plus all the outside fire pits were rolling so you and the family could make mis afternoon s'mores. Yummmmmmm so good. read more

Cider was good. Counter service was decent. Staff were friendly to some guests. Parking was horrible. In addition, don't go if there's a chance of rain. So, I'm a beer drinker. Pretty much exclusively (if I'm having alcohol). I kind of put off visiting Farmhaus because I was pretty sure I wouldn't find anything that I really liked. I was dead wrong! I had no idea there were so many varieties of ciders, and how different the flavor profiles could be! I guess it's kind of like beer; you need to try a few to find out what kind you like. I had a little flight of six, but then also ordered a shandy that had blueberry and lavender in it... oh my gosh, it was so delicious! Though I think that was a seasonal flavor. It was called skinny dip bloom. The atmosphere is also unlike any other place I've been to. It's down a dirt road and nestled into a bunch of trees. There are a few different outdoor areas with tables, firepits, or benches for seating. There is a small area inside as well, but I wouldn't expect to sit inside. If you've heard of them but haven't visited yet, I definitely recommend trying them out! read more

Farmhous is about a 25 minute drive from Holland, but worth the drive. Off of a gravel road, is an old farmhouse , surrounded by large trees. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is a variety of large picnic benches, and chairs around firepits. The atmosphere is relaxing. The staff were patient and friendly, while we selected the ciders for a flight. There was a variety of dry and sweet varieties. They do sell ciders to go. They do not serve food, but there was a food truck. Overall, a great hidden cider house . read more

Hidden gem! We love Farmhaus and the food trucks that come! Farmhaus is tucked away in the country in the middle of farms, but it's worth the drive. They have a pretty large variety of ciders and they're all exceptional. The inside has minimal seating (picnic bench style), so you may be sitting next to a stranger (who may become your new friend!). I've always loved a good cider and Farmhaus has many! Their tasting room is located in what sort of feels like the middle of nowhere but it's totally worth a visit (and really only 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids). My boyfriend and I decided to check it out one weekend afternoon pre-COVID times and had a great experience. The tasting room itself is fresh and new with crisp white walls and tiling. Farmhaus Cider is family owned and operated for over 100 years, which is really amazing. Their history is covered on their website; I highly recommend checking it out. The owner, John, was there on the day we visited and was busily pouring specialty ciders and flights. We ordered a flight of six different types of cider, including some taproom exclusives. The flight came in tiny glass milk bottles, which was so fun. I really enjoyed all the ciders we tried and there's something for everyone from dry to sweet. The Lake Effect series are a seasonal winter release but they might be my favorite. The Blush in particular has blackberries and lemon and is so delicious. Skinny Dip is the summer seasonal line with added lemonade for a refreshing summer beverage! The atmosphere at Farmhaus pre-COVID was cozy and warm, and I'm really looking forward to visiting again someday. read more

This business needs to seriously consider parking for their customers and how to make it efficient for people to visit their establishment. There were four cars ahead of me in the parking lot, and some guy was directing traffic, but instead of directing traffic, he was just chatting with each car and it was truly unknown whether we should go around or we should try to park. When I told him I just wanted to get something from the food truck, he informed me that I would have to wait until someone leaves before I can do that. I offered to park on the dirt road and walk and he said that I would risk getting a ticket. I told him I would be willing to take that risk, but he said that the business would be shut down if I parked on the street. What a ridiculous answer! As I was waiting my turn to park, other cars were going around me and around him. When I asked him where they are going, he told me that they are leaving the premises from an exit. When it was finally my turn after 10 minutes of waiting, as I was walking towards the food truck, I noticed that those cars that were passing me were actually parked in the grassy area close to the establishment. So, he had no idea what he was talking about, and he was letting people in that he knew, and he just pissed off a potential customer. This would be my last visit to this establishment and it also hurt the food truck business because I'm getting my food elsewhere. I would love to leave a review about the quality of their cider, or the ambience, but based on the experience in the parking lot, I never had a chance to experience any of it. read more

A deliciously fun experience! This cider company is set among trees and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. A food truck on site offers a small menu of delicious options. I had the chicken and cheese empanadas and the hubs enjoyed his pork fajita bowl. The variety of ciders was somewhat overwhelming but the friendly staff stepped in and helped us with recommendations. We sampled a flight and then settled on our individual choices. There are several seating areas available and a few fire pits dotted the perimeter of the property. This is my go to cider spot. Some of the best cider I've ever had. It's so peaceful since it's located in the woods!

So I'm not usually a big cider fan but I have made an exception for Farmhaus. The venue is incredible- they have an old farm house that is very run down looking in the parking area (the original I guess) that makes you wonder why you drove all the way out there... but then you walk around the corner and see the brand new facility, with a very cool "cider garden" that has multiple outdoor fire pits and communal tables. I visited during the fall foliage which was an added bonus for sure. The cider itself ranges from completely dry to semisweet, and none that I tried were too over the top like some you might find bottled in a liquor store... which is why I enjoyed these ones. They have cool merchandise and there was a great food truck there serving burgers. Great experience! read more

Stopped here on a drive back to metro Detroit after a weekend in Holland. This spot is great! Agree with previous reviews about a hidden gem. Their cider is GREAT and they have a really nice indoor and outdoor setup with tables, igloos, etc. Plus a dog-friendly outside is a big plus. Food truck up there when we arrived that was serving great food as well. Staff is nice and friendly and their ciders are excellent. We got flights and ended up leaving with 5-6 of their ciders that we loved. Try the After Glow, Bloom, Blush, Lake Effect Zest in particular! read more

Down the dusty, dirt road you'll find the sweetest little cider garden. We appreciated the old farmhouse and the quaint seating area. It's definitely off the beaten path but worth a visit. I wish there had been more variety to choose from so if you're making a special trip you may want to check first to see what's available to taste. They offer pint or 1/2 pints in cute little milkbottles. I had the Brunch (maple infused) and my husband the Shandy which was really good with it's thyme infusions. Hungry? Don't worry. They have food trucks come in and with the music and games you can spend a while relaxing and having a good time. My oh my, were my cider dreams met here. A cider flight! Finally, something for me! My husband always has his pick of beer flights, but alas, he managed to find himself a cider flight here too! We were both winners, as will you be when you visit here! My absolute favorites were the punch bowl sangria and the blueberry lavender lemonade. I never knew cider could taste so good. I should have bought more to take home, as I have been strictly rationing what small inventory I do have and summer has only just begun. Speaking of inventory, I need to find out if they distribute in Illinois. That would be amazing. Please let it be true. Unique experience and super busy on the Friday night we went there. They have food trucks there on a rotation and this time it was Arcane Pizza. Sourdough 12" crust in a wood fired oven with upscale gourmet toppings. I think they were approx $12-14 each. All were great and tasty!!! Huge selection of ciders on tap or to go cans too.
