If you're fully understanding that this place will be packed, overpriced and a tourist trap, then you should be fine. Our blood pressure immediately rose seeing the semi-organized chaos. We have done many farms/orchards and this one was bottom of the list unfortunately. We dropped by the winery and it felt like you were transported to a 2004 club with the tacky lights mixed with a clammy dungeon feel. Although it was $10 for 5 tastings, the ambiance negated the price. (The only decently priced feature.) If you have kids, they will for sure be stimulated and you're good to go. But otherwise for adults that want delicious cider, donuts and a calm u-pick experience, check out Famhaus Farms for a cleaner and more serene experience. read more

This spot offered a fun little afternoon during our recent trip to Grand Rapids. We were looking for a spot to kill some time, breath in some fresh air and chow on apple treats. Robinette's featured a small kids play area, apple picking, hard cider/wine in the bottom of the barn (note that alcohol cannot leave this space), a farm store, apple cider pressing on site (loved seeing this firsthand!) and a bakery with classic items like apple fritters and donuts. We grabbed an apple cider slushy and enjoyed some time in the playscape as well as a walk through the orchard. It was quite busy during our visit. Too bad you can't bring the alcoholic beverages out of the space. They also had a handful of farm animals in a petting area which was great for the kiddos. read more

I came here two days in a row just to get the doughnuts. I really loved the chocolate glaze, pumpkin spice and cinnamon twists, pair these with the hot cider and it's a great combo. I also got a whole apple blueberry pie. If you're from Michigan you probably can't tell the difference but once I left Michigan I can tell, the apples and blueberries in Michigan are the best in the country. So glad I came back. Stopped in for the first time today and had si much fun. We really enjoyed picking cherries and loved eating them after even more. They were delicious and well priced. We checked out the gift shop while we were here which was very cute as well. The sweet treats looked amazing, especially the donuts, which we will go back to try very soon! We were looking for a weekend fall activity and many people recommended Robinette's. My daughters and I arrived and started walking up- but didn't know where to go. There were a couple lines here and there and hardly any signage to guide visitors. So we went around the building towards the trees hoping to find info about the u-pick apples, and again, no signage. (If there was any, it wasn't obvious- we didn't see it) We chalked it up to thinking apple picking was done, so we followed the people and went inside the store. Lots of cute treats. We picked up a quart of apple cider and a couple things and went to the register. Apparently THIS is where you get your u-pick bag for $25 and then you're told which field to go to. While tempted, I didn't think we needed $25 worth of apples. (You can buy smaller bags of packaged fresh apples in the store) As we were leaving, we saw the horse drawn carts and walked over to see how to get on them. I saw a QR code hanging near the line, but it was to use for the next day; we had to fall back in the long line at the gift shop to buy a horse cart pass...needless to say, we ended up going home. Clear signage, or maybe maps would be super helpful for visitors who are unfamiliar with the place. However, I will say that I regret not buying the gallon of cider. It is the best I've ever had!! I'm definitely coming back for the cider and maybe the donuts if the line is shorter. read more

Robinette's never disappoints for a fall harvest outing. The variety of services & activities makes the wait time in line for fresh donuts and cider bearable. You can order the tickets for the hayride around the orchard online and have the little ones visit the petting Zoo, ride a pony or jump on the enormous inflated pillow to their heart's desire until your departure time. This place was super cute!! I really loved it and would come back. We went on a weekday afternoon and there was already a line there. Plenty of parking there though. We got some chocolate glazed and apple cider donuts and there were nice and fluffy! I really loved the chocolate glazed ones (I love chocolate). Fun and soft texture, not too sweet - perfect for me! We also got the hot apple cider which was really good and not too sweet as well. The workers there were all super nice and sweet! I'd come back here again. I'm on their website right now and it looks like there are many activities for kids (or fun loving adults) to do - apple picking, hayrides, wine tasting (not for kids), and corn mazes. I just want to remind everyone that as of this review on September 19, it's still officially summer! It seems like so many people love fall, but summer is my favorite so it's sad to see it come to an end. That said, I think this is the optimal time to check out places like Robinette's since the weather is usually still nice and the crowds might be a bit smaller. Nate and I went on a spur of the moment drive to Robinette's recently. There's lots to do at Robinette's. I saw a "bounce pillow" for kids, which is a big inflatable jumping pad. They also have horse drawn hayrides, u-pick apples, a winery with wine tasting, multiple retail areas, nature trails for walking/running and mountain biking, corn maze, and a petting zoo. Some of the activities are only available on weekends and seasonally, but Robinette's is open year round. It's free to visit, but most everything has an additional charge. I was interested in checking out the u-pick option, but they were only offering picking of one variety of apple that isn't my favorite. That's okay because they had a bunch of different varieties inside the apple haus, including a lot I'd never heard of. I found my new favorite apple at Robinette's - the SweeTango! We also got another half peck of apples, a small jug of apple cider, a cider slushie, and a cinnamon sugar donut. The lines moved quickly and the employees we interacted with were all friendly. They have a lunch counter and a snack bar that offer more food items during the day. I wanted to see the area where they do the wine tasting to check out a menu of their wine offerings, but it looked like you had to pay to even enter that building and there was a bit of a line, so we skipped it this time. Overall Robinette's is more of the traditional, old-school orchard that I remember from my youth. Definitely worth a visit! I'd be interested in the hayride as it's a horse-drawn hayride vs. a tractor, so their offering is a little more unique. At $12 per adult the hayride seems a bit pricey. We were there about an hour before they closed and I was surprised at how many things were already being packed up at that time. Be sure to get there early if you want to see everything! read more

This place is fantastic but be prepared for a pretty significant wait for the donuts. The line usually goes out the door and onto the sidewalk! However, I would encourage you to grab some friends, mittens and a hate and stick it out. The donuts are delicious. I prefer the cinnamon sugar and the apple cider ones the best but you can't go wrong with their apple fritters either! They have a corn maze, a hay ride, and a bounce area for kids. You can pick your own apples but it is dependent on the time of year. There is a cute little tasting room where you can try a bunch of wines - I highly recommend doing this with a group of friends. Such a treat in the Grand Rapids area. Spending the morning or afternoon here with friends or family is such a magical experience. The sheriff is there, every weekend, controlling traffic for this extremely popular winery. You will find a massive bounce platform for children, corn maze, horse and carriage rides, shopping, apple picking and a wine cellar with wine tasting. We spent for a couple hours, on a Saturday, to drink cider, and walk through their shops. We waited in their donut line to eat some of the best cinnamon/sugar donuts. We wanted to try the wine but we ran out of time after deciding to get donuts. Expect a wait on the weekends for donuts. Line is always 50+ people. Our favorite thing we encountered was the service. Every employee was so nice, and made our experience wonderful. If you're planning on going make sure you have plenty of time. Well worth the visit. read more

We are from out of town & stopped in here after someone recommended it to us- you can tell from the oic that we were not disappointed. The hot cider, donuts, fudge, gift shops and cider/wine flight made it a memorable experience. Barzilla's was definitely my most favorite from the tasting.. so lovely, nuanced and light. Joe did the tasting and had such wonderful stories and local information to share. We grabbed several items from all the little shops to take with us. A friend took me here in the morning. We just visited the cafe only for having donuts and coffee. Cafe has fresh donuts made in the morning. You have to stop by in the morning opening hours to get warm donuts. They have few options of donuts like cinnamon sugar, pumpkin spice, chocolate glazed and with sprinkles. Along with donuts you have some more items like apple fritters, bear claw, pie etc Drinks like coffee, hot chocolate are available. Coffee is not that great but I liked the warm donuts. My Grandma has been buying the cheese bread and apple bread from Robinettes for decades for us grandkiddies and let me tell you, that cheese bread is now my favorite way to get carbs at breakfast. Now that I'm grown and my husband is a part of my family, he has grown to expect apple bread when visiting my side of the family. If they didn't get him apple bread and cheese bread for me, a trip to Robinettes is required before our day can continue. They have lots of items outside of bread, although the bread will always be my favorite part. They also have a large variety of other baked goods, including seasonal doughnuts. We came in recently and they had sold all out of the large loaves of cheese bread so I got a small one for $3. The apple bread was completely sold out so my husband got some doughnuts. I've always loved Robinettes but they do nothing to make things easier for their customers. So often the line for donuts and cider is all the way out the door and sometimes to the road. This is a simple fix. Why not set up table or tents outside and take cash only or something like that? Seems easy but here we are waiting in lines for a donut. I picked up thanksgiving pies. Again, waiting in the same long bakery line. I'm watching the other part of the building (store attached) with ZERO customers and the cashier just standing there. Why not have more options for pie pickup? Finally. Kids working don't have a clue and very unfriendly. I've also seen workers with no gloves. Come on Robinettes. You can do better. We were excited for U-pick but it wasn't available yet (even though it says so on their website). We purchased a donut each and a wine tasting and both were good but the service was not. Can't believe I have never written a review for Robinettes! I'm not even sure where to start, I've been coming here since I was a little kid and now we are bringing our nieces and nephews. We can't wait to eventually start the tradition with our own children. The line gets long fast but the staff has it down to a science to get people in and out with a box of donuts! They don't have a huge variety but they have mastered what they offer. Once you get your donuts, side step over to the shop and watch them make fresh apple cider. You can take a carton from the refrigerator or have them fill one fresh for you. They also have all sorts of gifts and other apple themed treats available. We were able to hit the trails and get take-out, all while keeping plenty of distance between ourselves and others. (6 feet, everyone... 6 feet!) Robinette's sugar donuts and apple cider is a great addition to ANY day, not just for those cold Fall days. The lines for the donuts have a reputation for taking about 45 minutes during their busiest times/days, so better get there as early as you can to beat the people traffic! However, I have never had an issue finding seats indoors or outdoors. There is also a very cute play area in front with picture-worthy signs, benches, slides, and sometimes a petting zoo! So if you want to take some pictures, make sure to get on your favorite Fall outfits with the family. Robinette's also has a winery and a corn maze that I have yet to try! There is plenty to explore over here with the kids. The gift shop is also very appropriately priced if you are looking for some gifts for your out-of-state family and friends.
