Cool people, cool place, and even better cider. People's Cider Company is one of the few places, as a woman, that I feel 100% safe to leave my drink unattended. The owner, regulars, and bartenders are like surrogate brothers/sisters and watch out for everyone there - new acquaintances and old friends. Everyone is marvelously welcoming, and the place has a quirky local pub vibe. The place is small and intimate, so you don't walk in without walking out with new friend. I have brought my young daughter here for years (we grab a Fanta from next door at Chicago Style Gyro for her - that glorious place is a whole other 5 star review) and the people here treat her like their beloved niece. This will be the place she celebrates her 21st at. The cider here is unimaginably delicious. The seasonal selections and the staple flavors are all wins. Devout beer-only drinkers, hard cider experimenters, and cider connoisseurs will find something delicious to drink there. And every dollar stays local -with all local ingredients and local production. I highly recommend stopping by in summer to experience grabbing a cold mug of PCC cider, finding a seat in their patio, and watching the cars go by while the sun sets over Leonard. First time I went to an "only cider" drinking establishment. As a lifelong beer drinker, I decided to keep an open mind--my last cider experience was in the UK with Strongbow which was not my cuppa at all. Let me tell ya the cider at Peoples is not your 1990s cider at all--it was awesome!! I had the Ginger Adams--3x(still got that beer mentality where ya stick to the same beer all night) but my comrades tried a variety of ciders where each had their own unique tastiness: sweet for the Zema crowd and different levels of dry for the more traditional drinker-afficionado. The environment is fantastic as well--small, small Irish pub with some vinyl you can request to be played. The barkeep shook my hand and introduced himself with my first order. This place gives ya hope in the fact that others in the world still accept all types of people as PEOPLE. There was definitely a regulars group present but just like diehard Lions fans, we were welcomed aboard with enthusiasm. My new favorite pub in GR--in fact the only authentic genuine pub in the city. One of my favorite stops in GR. Jason not only produces a cider worthy of a pint but he also produces them in multiple varieties. While the space is intimate in size they offer a warm and inviting space to have a delicious mug or several. My personal favorite is the Ginger Adams ( a ginger infused cider) I swear this blend has cured me of more than one cold. For the hop fan they also offer a hoppy cider as well as a traditional offering. Stop in and try them out you won't be disappointed! read more

This cider maker has been on my radar since visiting Grand Rapids for the first time a couple years ago. I tried to go during subsequent vacations, but their limited hours never worked out for me. I met the owners at the Cider Dayze festival at Blake's and finally got to try a couple of their offerings and fell in love. I knew I'd have to make my way to their tap room somehow. The stars aligned during a recent GR trip and we made a special stop at TPC. The tap room is TINY. Like... room for six chairs, tops. That is one of the major downfalls, but there was a sign on the door stating they're moving to a different location soon. Let's hope the new tap room is much larger. There were four ciders on tap during our visit so naturally I tried them all. Their ciders are unique in that they're all barrel-aged, so they're always going to have that oaky flavor regardless of ingredients. I'm super-into this, but realize not everyone is. Eight ounce pours were a little pricey at $4 but worth it considering the complicated nature of what they're brewing and the fact they're all above 6% abv. Their limited hours suck, but I get it... the owners have jobs outside of making delicious cider. But I hope they can expand sensibly and get more people to run their tap room, so they can be open more often. read more

I came here for the first time about a month ago. The owner helped my friends and I- gave us a tour, explained each cider in depth, and gave us samples. He remember our names too! I got a cherry cider (can't remember the name) that was delicious!! I've been back multiple times and haven't been let down. This is easily my favorite place to grab a drink in all of GR! Added a beer/cider stop in GR to our weekend road trip and then were super disappointed when none of the cideries were open Sunday afternoon/evening or Memorial Day. People's Cider was the only place open, so we started our short time in GR here. We were the only ones in and enjoyed a tasty flight and some chatter with the bartender. I didn't fall in love with any of their ciders, but they were all tasty and well-balanced - it's clear they know what they're doing and do it well. We FINALLY got to check this place out when we were in GR over the weekend. I say "finally" because their weekend hours are near non-existent, so we've missed them every other time we've been in the city. The stars aligned this trip. Jason, the owner, greeted us promptly and ran through the list of ciders, giving us a description of each. We started with a flight of the four on tap, and followed up with a half-pint (filled to the brim, tyvm) of our favorites: the Bourbon Peach, and Sally Brown (both excellent). This place is TINY, but we were semi-comfortable even with 10-12 other imbibers. Prices seemed a *touch* on the higher side at $4 per 8oz pour, but this is no Angry Orchard... you're getting the good stuff, and the higher ABV helps justify it. Really the only thing I can complain about is the hours. As an out-of-towner, I'd love to see them open longer on weekends. read more

I had really high hopes for this place but was pretty disappointed when I finally stopped in the other night. There were only 4-5 options on tap and we tried them all. I didn't really like any of them, unfortunately. The guy working was really nice and friendly (I think probably an owner). The space is tiny and they were playing some really loud music that made conversation difficult. Also, pours were a bit pricey for size. I might stay in the loop about the cider they're making in case anything sounds interesting, but I won't be back until then, unfortunately. got good ciders i hear. fine water. only have orange faygo available though. i would prefer a mandarin jarrito, but that's not a big deal. live music on sundays and there is a wide variety of musicians. for example, there has been a bluegrass/irish lullaby singer and a eccentric yacht rock musician as well (beware: i wouldn't bring the youngins this night, he got some tight pants). overall fun and relaxing atmosphere and fun people. recommend 9/10 edit: no left handed guitars are available read more

Very good cider! I'm so glad that there's a solid local cider producer in GR. Besides Virtue, I haven't been all that impressed in the area. I recently moved from Seattle, where cider is very popular, and the barrel-aged cider I bought recently definitely matches up with the stuff I'm used to in the PNW. I bought my growler at the Fulton Street Market and the owner is also a really nice guy. Keep up the good work! read more

Perfect for a few people to get some good cider. Keep in mind the place is quite small but perfect for a personal gathering or to meet up with a friend. While I would rate their ciders closer to 4 stars the atmosphere and staff make it 5 stars. Coming here was my first time in Grand Rapids. The owner gave me a run down of what the town has to offer and recommended other breweries as well. He was genuinely friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend coming here. The place is very small and low key. I instantly felt welcomed. As for the ciders, because of how they are made there is a very strong bourbon taste. They are not very sweet. read more

BUTTTT, if you've been here, you know it's quaint and that's cool...the problem was, we ordered and the guy totally forgot us...we sat their waiting for 10 minutes, saw others walk in and get served...AND there were like 6 people in the place. So, after 15 minutes, I asked and he acknowledged he forgot us...you would think he would have maybe gave us one on the house, but nope. I wish my boyfriend had a different first experience there!
