I came to Farmhaus for lunch with a girlfriend midweek. Our server was extremely kind and attentive. To start, we split an order of one of their specials, which was a crostini that came with fresh tomatoes and cheese. The tomatoes were bursting with flavor and at their peak summer ripeness. Next, we split the endive salad, which had peaches and Bleu cheese. I'm not a big fan of Bleu cheese so we put it on the side. The salad was light and refreshing and the peaches were perfectly ripe. For my entrée, I ordered the chicken salad Panini and was absolutely blown away. I have had chicken salad before, but never in a warm pressed Panini and something about the combination was pure magic. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed with my first visit to Farmhaus and look forward to coming back again very soon. read more

Wow, no- WOW! Haus Bowl and Pastrami sandwich. The bowl was great. A touch too much mayo but a decent size. But, the pastrami was perfect- leaner cut, smoked tender meat, pickled cabbage, and the best texture and toasted bread. Easily...my favorites pastrami sandwich in the region. Service was very good. Iced tea was outstanding, and tazo hot teas. It is a bit out of the way for the city folks, but well worth it for some wine tasting maybe. read more

First of all, I will compliment our server. He could have been a bit more attentive when he realized our dinner had gone off the rails, but this is not on him. His kitchen failed him We started with a gem caesar salad so heavy with anchovies we could not eat it. First bad sign Dinner took over an hour and half to arrive (second bad sign). My wife ordered a pesto pasta dish, and I ordered the evenings special: a New York strip. My wife's dish came lukewarm at best. The pasta got clumpy as it stuck together. I find it hard to believe this was fresh. When I ordered my steak, the server asked if medium rare was ok. Of course, I said "yes" (is there another way to order a steak). The streak came to the table WELL DONE (third bad sign). Who does that to a 28 day dry aged steak?? I could have a steak like this at Applebees. My server agreed and offered to take it back. In hindsight, I should have sent it back and walked, but it had been over an hour and half, and I was hungry. We finally tried Farmhaus, the little restaurant literally around the corner from our house, and I'm really glad we did. I moved here about three years ago and tried a few times back then to get a reservation, but they were always completely booked. After a while, I kind of forgot about them--even though they're right down the street. This month, I decided to take my wife there for her birthday since we've heard so many good things and wanted to finally check it out. The food was excellent. The standout dishes of the night were hands down the butternut squash salad and the steak. The butternut squash salad was incredible--perfectly balanced, flavorful, and honestly one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The steak was cooked beautifully and was incredibly tender. I don't know exactly what sauce or gravy they use, but it was rich and delicious and really brought the whole dish together. We also ordered the fondue, which tasted great, but the tea light candle underneath wasn't quite hot enough to keep the cheese smooth. It started to cool and curdle pretty quickly, so a stronger heat source would definitely help. I did mention to the waitress that it was my wife's birthday. It doesn't seem like they do anything special for birthdays, which I also noticed at another table celebrating nearby. I'm not expecting a big dessert or anything fancy, but even something small--like a scoop of ice cream or a simple "happy birthday" plate--would be a nice touch. Still, this didn't take away from the overall experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and they have a really cute outdoor seating area that I can imagine being perfect in the summer. Our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu and her recommendations. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance were all great. If I lived in the area, I would eat at Farmhaus at least once a week. It oozes character and charm and the food is fantastic!! I didn't have the time or appetite for a large meal, so I opted for a starter, salad, side dish and an alcohol free beer. The Garlic prawns were hot, garlicky and delicious! The Roasted Turnips were cooked to perfection and a wonderful seasonal dish. The Little Gem Cesar was unique, light and flavorful that I could have eaten another one. The chef knocked everything out of the park. I highly recommend eating here if you're in the area. Locals are lucky to have such a gem of a restaurant! read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area! Incredible service, friendly staff, delicious food. Always love the garlic prawns and the ever changing BLT for lunch with a glass of J Cuvée Rosé! Dinner is also exceptional. Not too long ago I enjoyed the pan seared chicken and the bolognese is so, so yummy! The back patio is a sweet spot, perfect for lunch or a celebration! This restaurant is so cute! We sat outside on their adorable patio, sitting right by the fountain. The ambiance is very posh yet relaxed. Our server was very attentive and friendly. My friend ordered wine and said they have a good wine selection. We started with the artichoke dip that came with perfectly crispy crostini. This was the best artichoke dip I had ever had! They did such a good job elevating and perfecting a dish that is normally so basic and boring. I could bathe in this stuff! My friend ordered the salmon which was prepared in a beef Wellington style, wrapped in spinach and a pasty dough, sitting on creamed corn with fresh baby tomatoes. She said it was extremely delicious! I ordered the summer risotto and it was perfectly seasoned, with ribbons of summer squash and chunks of zucchini mixed in. I'm a fan of this place. The bowls are great. The backyard-like outdoor location is a great example of Granite Bay scenery. The people running the place and the servers are cool. If this location is getting an overall rating in the low 4's as i currently see it, its only because the food may be a little overpriced for what you get also, there isn't a ton of seating so it's popularity may leave you waiting a bit if you arrive in peak hours. My advice: Go to this place if you've never been and pick something off the menu that you don't normally eat. And if this hits you as bad advice, then 3 minutes of driving and 12 bucks will get you some Taco Bell or Jack-in-the-Box nearby, which is probably for the best. :) read more

This place is so cute! It was a beautiful day so no one sat inside. It is beautifully decorated inside though! The service was prompt and our server was so polite and helpful. The food was pretty good. However if you order anything with salmon, I highly recommend you request a side of chimichurri sauce to drizzle on top. The salmon has a very fishy taste/smell but smoked - not horrible tasting just not my cup of tea. I feel the chimichurri would help the flavor. Now the garlic prawns - yum! I would say they are more like shrimp than prawns, but they came with two small pieces of toast drenched in the chimichurri sauce- yummmmmmm!! Squeeze between the fence and boulder and you could probably park a horse trailer back there but nominal shade. Room for at least 10 cars in back. Food was great - loved the flavor profile of finglering potatoes and garlic shrimp. Combined made a perfectly filling delicious post-run dinner $31. They have different menus for lunch and dinner. Patio in back seats plenty and they turned on the heater and the fountain. I really liked the ambiance outside and would enjoy it for y kind of gathering but especially a date. One single room restroom was good except they need a double hook on the door for coats and purses. Service was nice. She knew the menu well and the portions and weights without my asking. Unfortunately, she assumed it was okay to grope my dog without asking. She did that a lot. She also didn't seem to be a genuine dog lover and my dog didn't bond with her. And my dog bonds easily. It was clearly a tactic to try to get a good tip but that's offensive and disingenuous. She even did that by coming up from behind, not announcing herself then departing after a couple of minutes. It startled me. I'm eating dinner. I don't want you coming over and groping my dog. It made me very uncomfortable. I felt like I was obligated to allow her to fondle my dog. This is the problem with being HSP, you don't want to upset anyone and you feel obligated to please every person. However, I need to remind myself that she is my dog. Nice server but the appetizer came with out the meat part and we told her so instead of getting us a new appetizer she had 4 slices of meat on a plate that arrived. Then 3 out of 4 of us did not like our food. One loved the chicken, one ate the steak but didn't enjoy it. And myself and another had the pork chop and the lamb rib that we barely ate it was so bad. The lamb had no meat and all fat and grissel(sp) and the pork chop didn't taste, look like a pork chop and was fatty and very under cooked. We won't be back. read more

Our dinner service on a not very busy Tuesday was quite disjointed, nothing seemed to flow smoothly. One of the meals came to our table almost 10 minutes after the others were served. They have a reasonable wine selection, but only seemed to have one mystery lager for beer. Our fondu appetizer was not fully melted when it came to the table and it quickly solidified. The cheese was bland as were the cubes of fingerling potatoes and somewhat dried out bread served with it. The pasta was quite good, but the bolognese sauce was only mediocre. My girlfriend ordered the pork chop rare to medium rare, it came well done. It had minimal seasoning except an excess of salt. This place used to be somewhere I loved. The food, etc. felt special & I even went for my 40th birthday. But, I met friends here for lunch recently and was very disappointed. The bench along the wall was so dirty with crumbs & hair everywhere including the crack. As we sat eating lunch, I noticed several spiders in the corner playing in their web and through the slats of the back of the bench, I could see spider webs everywhere along the wall. The menus were so dirty with food, beverage rings, etc and I can't understand why they're not tossed when they look this way and reprinted daily. Went to Farmhaus for Valentine's Day. Service was great, ambiance was mellow, but I was surprised to find that they had switched to a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day, which was substantially more expensive than what I was anticipating and didn't have the items I was interested in (especially the bouillabaisse). Farmhaus is free to use a prix fixe menu, but it's not fair to customers to not disclose it on the website (I checked it in late January), not tell customers when they call to make the reservation (also late January), and not tell customers when confirming the reservation (two days before). The $200 night I had planned turned into a $400 surprise. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally drove by and stopped in! As you walk in, you see the kitchen and the dining area expands out to the right. Indoor dining area has some small tables and one larger table. Outdoors they have a patio with much more seating, but it was rather chilly so we decided to stay inside. I had heard about their amazing pastrami sandwich, so of course that was what I ordered, and it was the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. So good! My husband got the farm bowl, and it was also amazing and featured super fresh toppings including shaved radish, fresh avocado, cabbage, lime and cilantro over a hearty shredded chicken, rice and bean bowl. I'll be getting that next time we stop in for lunch, but I'm more interested to come back to try dinner and some wine. Service was great too. Definitely come in and give it a try. read more

First time dining here but it won't be the last. I read comments that the portions are small and for some dishes, that is true. I prefer smaller portions so I can order several dishes to try. My family loves this place and it always has amazing service! We ordered the chimichurri shrimp which was so delicious and the steak crostini which were also super tasty as appetizers. For entrees, we got the duck breast, pork chop, and rib eye. Everything tasted great, but the collard greens were too salty and the pork chop was a little bland. My duck breast came with bacon, beans, and strawberries which was a strange combination. I wasn't a huge fan of the strawberries, but the duck breast itself was super tender and tasty. Overall everything was great but I think the main entrees could use some improvement. read more

We have been going to farmhouse for a while we love their lunches and going to listen to music. So we thought it's Valentine's Day. What a great place to go and celebrate. This is by far one of the worst experiences we've ever had the food was subpar at best. We first noticed it was a fixed price of $135 PER PERSON! Wow, we thought that's a lot but it's a special night and we usually have good food here. The food was extremely disappointing. The menu was awful consisting of pork belly appetizer super fatty the lobster ravioli you got a total of four and it was in some soupy oily liquid. The lobster was so tiny and chopped up. You couldn't even tell it was lobster and the dinner... my boyfriend had the risotto but it was some type of rice pasta in a heavy cheddar cheese like a Mac and cheese. They sat us in the "back area" which I mentioned I was really cold. Then They kept the door open the entire night to bring food back and forth for the kitchen. The window I was sitting next to had cob webs in the corner--yuck! To top it off our stomachs were so upset all night and today it was absolutely the worst. . The only time we saw our waitress was when she served our food that was it. Nothing was good, the food was terrible--SO DISAPPOINTING. We could have went to Ruth Cris or Flemmings for this price with guaranteed good food. read more

The restaurant itself has so much character. It's refreshing to not walk into the same industrial modern decor as every other newer restaurant seems to have adapted. You really feel like you're eating at a farm house! Plenty of outside seating and it was such a nice day when we went, we opted for that! Our server was very friendly and attentive. Although the manager (or owner- not sure) when we walked in didn't give a very welcoming vibe. We opted for the steak sandwich and garlic prawns. The sauce on the prawns is insane. The flavors dance in your mouth. The steak sandwich was just ok, a little hard to eat with how the steak was sliced. I actually enjoyed the limited menu as you can tell they really focus on those dishes instead of just throwing things in there for filler food. Quality over quantity for sure. However the drink menu is so sparse I wish that would expand a little. They only serve beer and wine and the majority of the wine was by the bottle. I opted for a $16 glass of Chardonnay but would have much preferred some more options. I'd come back for the quaint ambience and the garlic prawns alone! read more
