we came here for what was supposed to be a nice father's day dinner, and ultimately left very disappointed. i am confused how there are so many 5 star reviews here because our experience was not good sadly. upon arrival, it was clear that the ambiance of the restaurant was quite dirty and not very nice. while we were waiting for our table, i saw a dead fly in the toothpicks by the hostess stand; they also wiped down our table by just pushing all the crumbs/food scraps from the party before us onto the carpet. overall first impression wasn't very welcoming or hygienic. :( for food, we started with the chopped salad and tuscan figioli soup. the salad was very underdressed and bland, and the soup was also hugely lacking flavor despite us adding lots of salt unfortunately. then for mains, we ordered the chicken parmesan, the pasta al salmone, spaghetti and meatballs, margherita pizza, and penne all'arrabiatta. all of us agreed that the starter bread was honestly the best thing that we had food wise, and even that was a bit stale. the chicken parmesan, which my dad ordered for his father's day meal, was not breaded, unlike any chicken parmesan he's ever had before-- just chicken with cheese and marinara sauce. he was super bummed about how it tasted, as it was not up to par. the spaghetti and meatballs were SUPER dry and had no flavor. the salmon was overcooked in the pasta al salmone, and the penne all'arrabiatta was lacking overall as well. all the noodles in our dishes were overcooked. to give credit where credit is due, the tiramisu was yummy, but that was about it. nothing tasted very good besides the dessert and bread. as far as the service, it was very slow and probably took about 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. our server was friendly, but also didn't come back to check if we were enjoying our food. (which we weren't, sadly) when we got the check, we were so disappointed to spend nearly $300 on a father's day meal that was simply not good. we wanted to have a delicious meal to celebrate my dad but unfortunately that wasn't the case. we wouldn't come back here or recommend honestly. :( read more

I couldn't wait to dig in to my plate because it smelled sooooo good so I ended up taking a pic after I had eaten and my food was in a to-go container ‍ Husband and I went to Vaiano for date night. We both got the Zuppa Di Pesce. Which is described as the "Fisherman's Stew" but is basically Cioppino. We added the penne pasta as a filler. When I tell you it was delicious it was DEEE-LICIOUS! The penne just pulled it all together just like having it when I was a kid. We also got the bread basket, the caprese salad and shared a cup of the Fagioli soup. No joke, our bill came to just under $100. Tell me when the last time was "post covid" you and another person went out to DINNER and got the works with leftovers for less than a buck?? I'll wait. Lol and to top it off the food was bar none amazing. So flavorful, so aromatic, so authentic.. just GOOD! Our waitress was very busy, but still made us feel like we were her only patrons. My friend was raving about how good this place is so I put it on my list of places to try. Years ago we were unable to walk in and get a table. This time we made a reservation for Sunday evening. The place is modest from the outside and casually decorated inside with limited seating. Overall I thought the food was ok not great. The Caprese salad was refreshing. My son's spaghetti pomodoro was well flavored but the homemade marina sauce was too watery. My wife and son liked their Zappa de pesce and fruitti de mare. My lasagna tasted bland but was filling. I thinks it's a good place for locals but from Folsom I'd rather drive past it to Roseville for our usual go to place. read more

Well everything kinda went south with our waitress. She never brought breatd and the olive oil/balsamic dip even though the bread plates were right there. Other tables had this served to them. My salad came which was pretty good but she never offered fresh ground pepper for it (the other waitress was doing this). When the raviois came the sauce was pretty plain. Also no offer for freshly grated cheese on it (the other waitress was doing this too). After she removed our plates she just dropped the check on the table with no mention of a dessert menu (she insisted she had asked us this). We tipped her well anyway. We ordered: *Caprese 4/5 *Chopped salad 5/5 *Ravioli, this was the dinner size and it was pricey considering the portion4/5 *Cioppino, also dinner size, pricey 3/5 *Spaghetti bolognese, decent 3/5 *Margherita pizza 3/5 it was just ok *Sausage, mushroom, olive pizza 3/5 *Panne Cotta 5/5 *Tiramisu 5/5 *Affogato 5/5 Overall we enjoyed the food and wish some of the entrees were portioned better. Went last week for a family group dinner. The food was wonderful. The only thing was we had three tables all together, and the one I was sitting at the table top was so loose it was like sitting at a teater top. We came here summer 2022 as I had some gift cards to celebrate my wife's birthday. I never go to Granite Bay so it was a bit of a haul and it was just way past Douglas Blvd. From the outside it looks like a gated farm house. Yelp seemed to have magically made my review for this place disappear along with my entree photos. All of our 3 dishes were underwhelming and most of all, the plates were beyond stingy in portion size. Barely above a child portion. Maybe some places the child portions are larger. The server was ok but wasn't overly friendly and a bit short with convos. The place seems to get it's locals as it is small but packed. I doubt I would return due to distance and dislike of especially the miniscule portion sizes. Italian is usually a feast. This place is more like a famine. read more

I give mixed reviews. I had Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and hot peppers and it was very good. Not much to mess up. My soup was okay, not very well seasoned though. My two companions had spaghetti with meatballs and said it was terrible. Sauce very thin and sparse. Meatball tasteless. They asked for more sauce but it didn't help much. What happened? New chef? `A luncheon with an old teacher/friend of my wife's, brought us to this wonderful hole in the wall. The three of us explored the menu and we were happy to find multiple choices, soup, salad, pizzas, pasta, main dishes, panini's, and desserts and beverages . We each enjoyed our chosen meal: the prosciutto panino, zuppa di pesce, and the pear and gorgonzola salad. The zuppa di fagioli beans was excellent! I have had too many Italian places under my travels and actually worked at one of best in So Cal, where pasta was a side dish only and service was off of clothed carts. So no five star today but this a great local trattoria. Service was like we like it! Always around but not around, We stayed for a couple hours and enjoyed the food and friend. Ok Watching Tucci in Italy, got me thinking about this place. Found them thru a recommendation and maybe the best recommendation I ever got. This place is excellent. Pizza Vaiano Bianca is perfect. The best cracker thin crust in the region period. The prices fantastic and pretty darn good service as well. Keep in mind they have maybe 20 tables in a hidden strip mall behind another strip mall. But this is what you call a hidden gem. I would love to help them more than this with the marketing but it might cause issues. If you want Italian and you're not sure where try it out. We love the pizza margherita. Closest we've found to pizza in Italy. Another staple for us is the pear salad with Gorgonzola cheese. We alternate our pastas as many are delicious. The service is good on most nights. The decor is Italian so that is nice. read more

Went to check out this place based upon other five star reviews, they were not lying. I've only tried it once so far, but I am definitely going back! We came here to check out their lunch menu because it was so reasonable. What we had was more than generous for a senior couple. The price was so reasonable! Not to mention the food being incredibly delicious. My husband had the mushroom tortellini and the sauce was incredible! I had the seafood pasta and they were very generous with the portions of seafood. Katie was our server, and she was as excellent as the food delicious. The place is small and cozy and very clean. I'm sure during peak hours it's likely very crowded, but we went during a quiet period about 2 to 3 PM. A very good gem of a find! read more

Took my mom for lunch for her Birthday. We got there early and we were the first ones there. There is a huge amount of parking right out front. We were seated right away. Server was nice and mostly attentive but disappeared for too long sometimes. If you want bread it's a small charge but they nicely tell you that rather than a surprise up charge. It is worth it. Nice sour dough bread with a bowl of garlic, balsalmic and oil to dip it in. My mom wanted to get half ravioli and half of the pasta pomodoro. They wouldn't split it, understandably, so I ordered her both. It's her Birthday. I ordered the chicken ceasar panini for me. It comes with a choice of salad or soup. I ordered the salad. There was a choice of two to choose from. I ordered the pear and Gorgonzola. The salad was so nice for a side salad. The dressing was nice and light but flavorful. My panini was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly with lettuce dressed with ceasar dressing and tomatoes on a pizza crust bread. On my gosh was it good. The tomatoes on it were not so I pulled them out. We did not know about this restaurant, and discovered it randomly. We love Italian and live nearby so we thought we'd give it a try. We called in a Togo order that my wife picked up. Wine she arrived, she paid by credit card, wrote "0" for the tip as we normally do, and gave a few dollars in cash. Food was decent, and we thought we would try them again in the future. The credit card bill came today, apparently, a cash tip was not good enough for them, and the restaurant took it upon themselves to change the credit card receipt to a $10 tip. We have our copy and have disputed it with our card. These days small businesses should not be engaging in shady practices like this if they want to survive. Zero stars for illegally giving yourselves a bonus on my dinner order. Spreading the word about these fraudsters. read more

Thinnest dough we've ever seen, and we like thin crust! Sauce is basically thin tomato sauce... Pizza has zero "flop" and can't hold up to bring eaten like pizza. It's wet, undercooked, too little dough, and overall a novice presentation. Didn't pay for or finish the pizza. Won't be back. read more

Wow!! I've finally found real Italian food in Granite Bay! When directions got me here, I remembered this tiny weird stip mall. It used to be Granitos! But because of my lack of love to this area, I found out Vaiano Trattotia has been here 9 years (kicking myself) We ordered two dishes: Frutti de Mare-- seafood linguini (mussels, classic, calamari, shrmip) in a tomato sauce. The other dish I can't find on the menu because it was a lunch special. It was like a great pizza or calzone in a pasta: mushrooms, onions and olives in a rich tomato sauce. They actually had homemade cannoli with dusted pistachio ends. I hope this review makes you want to visit this place. I can't wait to go back! read more

We have been here many times. This time was the nail in the coffin. We went on Christmas Eve, reservations @6, and have in the past as well. It started with our waitress, she was insufferable! She clearly did not want to be there. She was not attentive. We wanted to get her attention multiple times and she would not look over at our table. They had no clean water glasses when we got there. She was not even going to take over half of our parties drink orders because they didn't have glasses. Only the people who were ordering beer, which I told her she could take our drink order and bring the drinks when they have glasses, which I think made her even more miserable. Then three of our five dishes were terrible!! My husband ordered lasagna and the noodles were completely mushy. One of my children had chicken cacciatore and he said the chicken was beyond dry. In my meal the meatballs tasted so old and freezer burned everyone in my party tasted it and everyone spit it out. Very, very disappointing Christmas Eve dinner! I will say there was one staff member there that was helping us when our waitress was neglecting us. She was amazing. I wish I would've gotten her name. read more

My second time here and both times we were amazed by the food. Place is so small and it is so inconspicuous but what a jewel. We get the peach Bellini for drinks, the bread for an appetizer and so far have tried 4 main dishes. All delicious. Last time I had the carbonara with peas and bacon. They make it occasionally and it was delicious. The staff is courteous but it does seem like it gets busy here and the staff is on their toes. read more

Vaiano Trattoria is an excellent dinner date night out. Their food is top notch! First of all, the pasta melts right in your mouth, and I have never had a better gnocchi. In addition to this, their chicken parm was tender and full of flavor. OH, cant forget about the wine! The rose we ordered was smooth and juicy. It complimented dinner very nicely. To conclude dinner, we ordered the tiramisu. This was the BEST tiramisu we have ever had. It was big enough to share and so so GOOD! We also got a little cup of coffee to share, and it paired perfectly to the tiramisu. On another note, they have their COVID plan down. All employees are wearing masks, tables are 6 feet apart and between each dining table, their is a plastic clear shield. Well done! Viano Trattoria was recommended by a friend that lives in Granite Bay after hearing me tout Visconti's in Folsom. I'm Italian, I've been to Italy a couple times AND I absolutely love Italian cuisine so i tend to be overly critical of Italian restaurants. It was a bit tough to find as it is on Douglas near the Folsom Lake entrance which is away from the rest of the businesses in the Granite Bay Village Shopping Center. There are a handful of tables inside but currently offer outdoor seating of 9 tables due to COVID. I highly recommend making a reservation as I have been turned away after popping in unexpectedly. The restaurant is cozy yet romantic which makes for a perfect date location. In our several visits, the bread with balsamic, oil, and garlic is quite memorable. Fresh bread paired with this mixed dip makes for a great start to any meal. We also enjoyed the In de Rucula (Arugula with apples and Parmesan) which is a tasty salad to have before your meal. For the main coarse, we always enjoy Penne with vodka sauce and theirs is no exception. We also really enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan which had a fresh red sauce to pair with each bite of their moist chicken. Yummm! For dessert we had the Lava cake and Bread pudding. These were both good but I prefer an eggy bread pudding with less sauce. I would order both again but wouldn't make the trip for it. All said, I highly recommend Vaiano Trattoria for a tasty and authentic family meal or a romantic evening with your love interest. This has now become my second option along with Visconti for amazing Italian cuisine and Vaiano is the most romantic setting of the two. Manga! read more

We were hopeful based on the reviews that we would be having a tasty Italian meal, however that was not the case. It was very apparent that the pasta was frozen and not fresh and the sauces were also below par: watery with a lack of flavor. The best part of our dinner was the bread, which they nickel and dime you for rather is being complimentary. Our server also did not let us know that our meal did not come with a salad, but only asked if we would like soup or salad with our meal. We found out when the bill came that that charged us for that as well. Disappointing experience! read more
