Came by for dinner because I was thinking there is some associate with this New Farmerhouse Eatery and the original Farmer's Restaurant. Not sure if they are but presentation wise this New Farmerhouse the store is nicer since it's newly open and the food presentation. The food wasn't bad though I like the Lobster sticky rice in the original Farmer's Restaurant more. We ordered the following: - braised pigeon - fresh squid with salt and pepper - Salted Fish & Chicken Tofu Pot - Sautéed String Beans with Minced Pork - prawns with walnuts (mayo on the side) - off menu mei fun dish (forgot the name) - crispy large fried sausage (fried pork intestines cut open) The pigeon was crispy and flavorful, especially with the salt and sweet dipping sauce. The fried squid was fresh with a crispy exterior but still soft and fluffy inside. The salted fish & chicken tofu pot came out sizzling hot, and the tofu was incredibly smooth and silky, it paired so well with rice. The string beans were packed with flavor and had a great crunch from the meat and pickled vegetables. The prawns were massive, fresh, and perfectly crunchy. The mei fun and pig intestines were decent, though it didn't stand out for me. The pig intestines needed just a pinch more salt but it was still good. Overall, the food was delicious and definitely worth trying. The waiters seem to speak mostly Chinese but I'm sure you can order with some basic English or point at items on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would not recommend coming here for celebrations as the place is small, underwhelming and our waiter never smiled once despite paying all cash and leaving 20% tip.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The person cleaning the table was very friendly so it may just be a one-off situation. Most of the food we ordered tasted average. The best dishes were the salty fish fried rice, the snow pea leaves, fish filet and my family enjoyed the clams. CASH ONLY Not the typical grand banquet-style Chinese restaurant but rather a no-frills family-friendly spot that offers home-style Cantonese cuisine. Most of their dishes has good flavor, though not the best in the area but satisfying. The restaurant has a decent amount of menu options, great for family-style dining where you can share a variety of stir-fries, seafood, poultry, beef, seasonal veggies, noodles, fried rice, and soup. They have a range of options for their lunch specials too. The lunch specials offer generous portions that are both filling and great value for the price. Some of my dinner favorites include the double egg fried rice. The Jinsha Tofu could use more salt but still makes a decent appetizer. The squab is a solid choice for it, it's pre-marinated and packed with flavor, although the marinade might have made the bird less plump than expected. The typhoon shelter clam was good but spicier than expected. The starchy soups are on the mild side, so I rather opt for double boiled soup instead. The steamed fish was outrageously priced and worse because they separated the flesh from the bone, but also chose to cut the bones in pieces so bits of bone were in the flesh... didn't feel safe giving to the little kids. My sister's family proposed coming here for dinner since they live nearby. It was conveniently located on the same block as the D train stop. This is truly how one should eat at all Chinese restaurants. I'm trying to remember what he ordered. It was very protein heavy, which is always a good thing. We had fried fish filet, which the children loved. Others included Peking pork chops, braised duck, garlic chicken, steak (a little on the fattier side), a crab over sticky rice entree, steamed fish with soy sauce and scallions, fish maw soup, and a noodle dish. Decided to come here after the long wait for dim sum at the Fortune Palace. Ordered 5 dishes for 4 people. Double egg yolk fried rice - was good, soft and each grains were separated. The tiny shrimp adds a nice touch of saltiness. Garlic chicken (half) - was okay a bit dry in my opinion but the flavors are good. Mayo shrimp - light and crispy and goes well with the sauce and broccoli. Mixed vegetables - this was good, cauliflower, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, taro, zucchini and pumpkin. This was my mom's favorite dish. Sea clams with onion, pepper and garlic bits - it had salt and pepper squid and sea clams. I love the aroma of the onion and garlic. read more

My family and I stumbled into this restaurant Saturday evening and although the restaurant was packed, they managed to squeeze us into a table within 15 minutes. They serve homey, country-style Cantonese cuisine and the prices are very reasonable. We ordered two of their signature menu items; the poached chicken served with a scallion oil dipping sauce and the stir-fried green beans and fish fillet that was cooked with a deeply umami-rich house relish. We also ordered some crispy intestines with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, a fried fish and tofu casserole, and stir-fried water spinach. We ordered family style and shared: eggplant, clams, yee mein, squid, lobster, broccoli and shrimp, jellyfish and a side of veggies. A newly opened spot for some home-y Cantonese food! The chef at this spot is one of the former chefs from Farmer's Restaurant, located a bit further up on 86th street. The menu here is purely in chinese - that's how you know it's authentic eats. Ask the waiter for some recommendations and daily specials.
