I hope this is an update and not a first review because I've been here dozens of times over the last 6 years and it has immediately risen to the most favored dim sum of the family. That is saying a lot because we have been to dozens plus of great in some places in southern Brooklyn. The high excellence is in every facet of this restaurant from the quality of ingredients to the recipes that are innovative and not stuck in the past to the excellent execution every time to the diversity of types of meals available here to the not cart and actually good service, likely a reflection of the better treatment of the staff which is important to me. Parking remains extremely easy with the main commercial drag of 20th Ave or paid parking as well as lots of residential free parking nearby. Nor private parking lot here, but that is not a problem at all. Clearly, there is continued demand for wedding and special catering in a very high rate of take out foot flow, but nothing so bad that it causes hour-long waits even on weekends at 11am. Stopped by for dimsum after running a few errands in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is slightly fancier than the dimsum restaurants on 86th street but not over the top.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent! Very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Dirty plates were cleared from the table within milliseconds and tea was refilled frequently. I would say most of the dimsum dishes here tasted standard but ones that stood out include the Chiuchow style dumplings and the mochi buns. We also got one of their specials: a chicken and abalone sizzling pot and this was delicious! They cook it with a ton of ginger, garlic and onions so it was so flavorful! Absolutely loved the sauce and highly recommend pairing it with a bowl of white rice! Will be back if I'm ever in the area and happen to be craving dimsum. read more

We were at this really for a party. I got to try the shark fin soup, shrimp walnut, fried tofu, steamed fish, seared steak, lobster with garlic sauce, all were super tasty. The soy chicken was little dry though. For dessert coconut jelly was so good, I am still eating them a day later. The staff were amazing. They made sure all the dishes were served in time, cleared out empty dishes, gave us fresh new small plates, and helped us to pack leftovers. I had a wonderful dinner here. Recently came here for dimsum with some friends. We came late afternoon on a Monday and it was still pretty crowded. I got a slip for a table and didn't wait more than 10 minutes. We came around 1pm and the manager told us dimsum ends around 3pm. He seated us with another table which we did not enjoy. It was a small table and had a difficult time ordering multiple dishes since we had to be considerate to our tablemates' table space as well. There were maybe 2-3 ladies with cart coming around. The selection wasn't huge but it had all the dimsum essentials. The ladies were friendly and would grab the dimsum under (fresher) than the ones sitting on top. We noticed around 1:30pm, a lot of empty tables but no one offered to move us to another table. We also noticed fewer carts and less dimsum coming around. Although the manager said dimsum went until 3pm, it really feels like it stopped at 2pm. The service was quite slow, empty plates took time to clear and we asked for new chopsticks that were never brought over to us and we eventually just left without ordering more. There weren't anymore carts going around anyways. The food was not bad. I enjoyed the food except for the tripe which was very bland. Otherwises, I thought the food was good especially the chicken feet which was extremely tender and the salted egg yolk bun which was fluffy. I did feel like this place was a bit more expensive for dimsum. It's definitely on the pricey side. The cheapest dimsum was a medium and it started at $4.50. Restaurant is very popular for dim sum and dinner. I have found the food to be average compared to other large Chinese restaurant. The take out department is lacking in customer service. You order by checking out a form and a woman goes and brings it out from the back. She then packs it at the front. She serves one customer at a time as well as being a cashier. We came here to celebrate mother's day! We were seated but waited roughly an hour for the first dish to come out. Everything tasted fresh and flavored. I would recommend the California prawn shrimp if you like shrimp. It tastes sweeter than regular shrimp. I also liked rhe lamb chops as they were slightly crisped and did not taste gamey at all. The beef ribs were great and it's sauce was on the sweeter side compared to an American cuisine. The snow crabs were also fresh and meaty. However they didnt provide the crab crwcking tool. Our local dim sum spot with classic favorite dishes. Recently held an event in a private room for about 20 people and we were pretty impressed by the fast and attentive service! We ordered maybe too much dim sum (though guests happily brought leftovers home) and a few bigger entrees: mayo shrimp was excellent, lobster sticky rice was a hit, yi mein stirred up a debate (you either LOVE it or feel like they resemble rubber bands). Craving traditional Cantonese food... here we are! Typical Cantonese restaurant, bunch of round tables for family dining. They also have screens that creates private rooms. I've been here multiple times for wedding banquets. The first banquet I went to, had the whole place. The place was spacious and there was a lot of room to play games. The food was okay, nothing really memorable or outstanding. Service was great, they did give us leftover dim sum from the afternoon service. The second banquet I went to, had four tables but we were closed off from the main dining room. The food was a lot better probably because we had the more expensive option which included king crab. They cooked the king crab perfectly with legs in garlic/scallion, steamed head with daikon, and rest of the crab in fried rice. The crab was succulent and super fresh. I would come back for a special occasion just for the king crab, definitely worth coming here for. read more

The restaurant had Chinese new year decorations and they tried to put Chinese new year songs but the speaker wasn't working properly. The service was good and the servers tried their best to serve us, despite how busy it got. The food was pretty good. We order two different seafood soups, steak, eggplant casserole, string beans with fish, pan fried noodles, roasted pig, and veggies. I recommend the eggplant casserole and the steak! This place is my most favorite dimsum spot in NYC. I love their dimsums so much. They are super fresh and delicious! The dimsums are close to the ones served in HK. Love this place & I hope it survives and remains open for a long time. The staff are also very friendly and nice. There is indoor and outside dining now. Gave this place another chance for my family's Chinese New Year dinner again. First visit was off because it was fairly new and they didn't manage the CNY crowds well. This year, much better service by the wait staff. And the manager that took our order gave us reasonably priced suggestions rather than just upselling what they priced too high. I had a party of 8 and our dinner came to an economical total of $170 before tip. No soup and no pricey seafood, that was the strategy. Worked in our favor and everything tasted great! Dishes I'd recommend: - Sauteed rib steak with asparagus - clams with black bean sauce - fried tofu with the egg like batter paired with mushrooms, lotus root, and mixed veggies. The grey-ish sauce was delicious! (Likely that color because of the mushrooms and the veggies) - the Chilean Sea Bass (a little too heavy on the sauce but the fish is always meaty and tastes like butter). The sauteed purple onions complimented the dish nicely. While we ordered many other dishes, these were the ones we loved and finished. The rest was saved for leftovers. Still good the next day by the way. Side note: the twin lobsters I wanted to order was market price, $60 for two (Jan. 2020). You gotta be kidding me. Highway robbery! Came here for a party for my cousin. There was a lot of good food here. We got a private room with two big table. The food was preordered ahead of time so we didn't need to decide there. We got a lobster dish that was on top of a fruit salad. It was a weird starting appetizer, not really my favorite. We then got this chicken soup that took a day for them to make. The soup was really good. The rest of the dishes was pretty standard. Another dish that stood out to me is the stew duck dish. But apart from that it was pretty standard. I was yelled at by waitresses I must understand how their kitchen chef operate they only cook for one table all the dishes at one times and let the rest of the table starve. This is my family's new favorite dim sum restaurant, and there is SO much to love about this place. I have no clue why it has anything less than 5 stars - maybe the wait? But that's how you know it's good :p On weekends, the line is typical - usually at least an hour wait unless you show up right when it opens. They have an interesting system in which they have tables semi-reserved for large groups, so a group of 8 would be able to get a table before a group of 3-4 (the most common number). On weekdays, there isn't much of a wait at all at any time! The food is all fantastic, and so is the service. On the one occasion we got a shrimp cheung fun with dried out skin, the manager immediately replaced it with a fresh one, explained what had happened and apologized for it. Other than that one food blip, you can tell by my check-ins and pictures that I love all the food I get here. The shumai, tripe, shrimp stuffed eggplant, beef short ribs, etc. are all really great. Their star, however, is their lao sah bao (sorry for butchering cantonese pinyin). You have to get them fresh - they're perfection with their toasty tasty exterior and the glorious ooze of warm golden salty egg custard. No matter how full I am, I always make room for those. They also have a huge variety of beautiful vegetarian dim sum in the form of pretty flamingoes or decorated mushroom baos; too bad I love meat too much to try those. I'm still searching for all the good dim sum places in Bensonhurst and I'd like to consider this to be one of them. This review is just for their dim sum experience. I have not been here for dinner. First things first, get the Liu Sa Bao, salted egg yolk lava bun. They make a limited amount of this at a time. They come out piping fresh so keep an eye for it when the dim sum chef brings it out from the kitchen. It's one of their most popular dim sum item. *Warning, the 'lava' is hot and will get messy. Most of their dimsum is good, nothing extraordinary and nothing bad so far. I like their rice rolls, its so soft when it's fresh but off the cart is cool too. I enjoy it when the skin is smooth and thin. The texture and consistency is pretty good. If you ever come late, as in between the hours of 1:30pm - 3pm, there will be limited fresh and/or specialty items but you can request for the steamed dim sum to be made. Love this spot for dimsum - featuring creative and fresh delicacies not found in other restaurants. Some of my favorites include the roasted pork bun with the white crackling topping and steamed leaking duck yolk buns. The cart ladies rounded the restaurant pretty often and we never had to wait too long for them to get to us. I wanted to order clams in black bean sauce but they ran out by the time I tried to order. The food is wonderful especially salt and pepper calamari, stir fry snow pea shoots with garlic. Definitely recommend the Chinese Eggplant & Fried Tofu with Thai sweet-spicy chili, Fried shallot & spicy pepper on King Crab and Lobster from the seafood selection. Dim Sim is amazing especially when you sit close to the kitchen when the come out hot and steaming from shrimp dumpling (har kow), radish cake, rice roll with shrimp, beef, fried dough crueller or cilantro with sweet soy. Your typical standard Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn. I've been here twice - once for a wedding reception and another time for dinner. Food is pretty standard, nothing particular stood out compared to other Chinese restaurants. My relatives picked this place for dinner on a Saturday night and arrived around 7pm. We were told we wouldn't be able to get seated until 8pm, since they had 2 events going on simultaneously. If you were looking to grab dinner here, I would suggest calling ahead of time in case someone has reserved the place. I think that Golden City is very underrated in the Brooklyn community. I came by here on a Thursday afternoon and it was actually POPPIN. I was very pleasantly surprised! I consider myself quite a dim-sum master, as I accompany my grandmother to dim sum restaurants 2-3x a week. The prices here are consistent with the regularly cheap Brooklyn prices and the service here is decent. The food is nothing too special, but I feel like my taste buds have been numbed to thinking dim sum food is mediocre. I think I was mainly blown away from the ambiance here because it was relatively spacious and very well decorated. From the wallpaper to the tablecloths, I think that this place gave off the "Guangzhou, China feel". Reasons as to why this place isn't 5/5: 1. No WiFi here (I've seen other restaurants provide this service) 2. Giant tv plays Ads instead of actual TV/music. 3. 3. Parking here on a Thursday was almost impossible as all of the streets around there have street cleaning until 10:00am! UGH :/ Happy Note: This place is wheelchair friendly! I've been here for dimsum before and it wasn't a good experience because we were in a room downstairs and the carts barely walked by so it was hard to get food. Dinner was a great experience though! We called in advance for a room and reserved a Peking duck. The quail here is sooo good. Juicy and flavorful. The rooms here are pleasant! Each room has some decorations along with a ktv machine. Unfortunately the night I went, the machine was down so we couldn't sing our hearts out. All the dishes were reasonably priced and tasted good. I highly recommend the tofu with stir fried vegetables and quail as those two were my favorite from the night! The sweet and sour pork chops were also really good too! Officially had my worst experience at a Chinese restaurant and I'm usually pretty easy going. Granted we came on Fathers Day but still took 2 hours to serve 4 dishes and when we let them know they started churning out under cook food and the sauce on the walnut shrimp looked like scrambled eggs.
