Valentine's Day 2026: Interior of Palisades Eatery.
    Rachel A.

We tried lunch at Palisades Eatery on Valentine's Day 2026 after enjoying a relaxing morning of mud baths and massages at Golden Haven Spa, our go-to spot in Calistoga. When we arrived, Palisades Eatery had a lengthy line to place an order. While waiting, we could see into the open kitchen where the staff appeared visibly stressed and unhappy - not much of a welcoming atmosphere. As for decor, their 2025 Christmas tree remains sadly propped up in a corner. We found seating at a table that appeared to have been cut in half and pushed against one of the oddly blocked-off bay windows facing the street. During the long wait for our meal, we noticed the deceased and dying insects accumulated inside of the bay window. Unfortunately, this did not enhance the ambiance of our dining experience. Our Cobb salad, Roasted Beet salad, and Calistoga Caesar sandwich eventually arrived. After taking a few bites, we looked at each other and smiled, realizing we were both underwhelmed. None of the dishes stood out compared to the many other lunch options in Calistoga. In fact, after taking one bite of the Calistoga Caesar sandwich, my husband suggested that I skip it entirely. Following the posting of my unbiased review, I received a message from Palisades Eatery's "business manager" Angela R. which felt unnecessarily aggressive and slightly unbalanced. Please read Angela R.'s response and decide for yourself if this is the type of business you'd enjoy supporting.

Veggie pizza, after we ate half. :) it had a crispy crust and was perfectly cooked. No complaints.

We ate at the bar. They were busy, but they were still fast and friendly. We had drinks too. The place was festive for the holidays. Good ambience for a date of with family and friends. The pizza and Greek salad were perfect to share.

We were leaving the area after visiting a few wineries, and this was our choice for some eats. It hit my requirement, pizza. It's a cute place inside, and I particularly like the old photos on the walls, on the way to the bathroom... Way in back. The woman at the counter was very friendly, and even allowed me to sample a couple of the beers (IPAs) on tap. While I don't remember the brewery, it was whichever one was most local. Pizza was great. I, and Thuy, forget which sandwich she had, but all of it got gobbled up (I don't think it was turkey). So here's a little 411. If there is an elderly lady having lunch by the window, unless you want to become embroiled in all sorts of lengthy conversation, on a wide variety of subjects, stay away. I didn't mind, but Thuy and my Godfather were a bit miffed. I didn't know we were planning on another winery!

Wonderful service, they were able to substitute a veggie patty into the salad instead of the chicken, and it tasted very good! Made the salad more substantial and yummy. The veggie grilled sandwich was so nice as well, the sauces and melted cheese were delicious. The ambiance is modern farmhouse vibe with a clean aesthetic. Great place to stop by on the downtown street!

Big N' Tasty Sandwich...well half of it anyway!

Ok, first time here...actually first time in Calistoga! The Big N'Tasty chicken sandwich was delicious. Fried chicken cutlet with a BLT basically. The onion rings were great not greasy and very crispy. Had the house ice tea...has just a hint of berry taste, very good. Staff were great, food arrived pretty quick and just as ordered. The place is not huge and parking downtown wasn't the easiest but it was worth it. You order at the counter and they will bring you your food. There are a couple of small outdoor tables also. Overall a great place to grab some lunch.

I love a good Mom and Pop restaurant and Palisades Eatery did not disappoint us. We needed some fuel to combat the several glasses of wine we enjoyed at our tasting at Myriad Cellars. Easy to order at the counter and instructed to grab a seat and they would bring out our lunch. My wife and I split the Italian Sandwich, bought some chips and opted for water. The sandwich was outstanding and big enough to satisfy even when split. Service was fast and friendly and water was cold and plentiful. Bonus was our ability to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Our visit to Palisades Eatery was nothing short of 5 stars. This will be our stop when tasting wine in Calistoga.

The food here was absolutely wonderful - simple yet satisfying! I love club house sandwiches and their version was pretty close to perfection with the right amount of everything plus avocados. And their fries were delicious! The restaurant is quaintly cafeteria style where you go up to the counter to order and the food is delivered to your table. It's clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our lunch!

Don't just stop by for a meal--plan to spend a few hours exploring because every historic train car has its own unique experience. The amount of creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail is incredible. Every space feels thoughtfully designed, and you can tell every decoration and element was placed with intention. I notice something new every time I visit. I honestly can't pick a favorite train car. Casa Obsidiana serves authentic Oaxacan cuisine in one of the most beautifully designed spaces. The Parlor Car is elegant and perfect for champagne, caviar, and fresh oysters. If you're visiting with kids (or just have a sweet tooth), Earth & Sky Chocolates is a must--everything is absolutely delicious. Then there's the First Millionaires' Saloon, which is one of the coolest bars you'll ever walk into. The décor alone is worth the visit, and the distillery adds another unique experience to explore. Every train car has its own personality, making the entire property feel like an adventure rather than just a place to eat. The food is fantastic across the board. My son is obsessed with the wood-fired pizzas, and we've never had a meal we didn't enjoy. Whether you're stopping in for dinner, drinks, dessert, or simply wandering through the train cars, there's something for everyone. What truly makes this place even more special is the people. Every single employee we've encountered has been genuinely warm, welcoming, and kind. Michael always goes out of his way to say hello and make us feel at home, and Pedro is just as friendly and accommodating. You can tell the staff genuinely care about creating a memorable experience, and that hospitality is a huge reason we keep coming back. To make it even better, they have live music every weekend, creating such a fun atmosphere that you'll want to stay for hours. I've visited many places throughout Napa Valley, and nothing compares to the Calistoga Depot. It's historic, beautiful, unique, family-friendly, romantic, and unlike anywhere else. Whether you're looking for amazing food, handcrafted cocktails, authentic Oaxacan cuisine, incredible desserts, live music, or simply a one-of-a-kind experience, you'll find it here. This isn't just one of my favorite restaurants--it's one of my favorite places, period. If you're in Calistoga, don't even question it. Put the Calistoga Depot at the top of your list. I promise you'll leave already planning your next visit.

When we arrived, no one greeted us or directed us where to go. We stood at the bar for quite a while with employees nearby before eventually making our way around to the other side. When someone finally took our order, the employee seemed annoyed and reluctant to help. We took our number and sat ourselves, as the signs instructed. Shortly after we were settled, a server came over and told us we would enjoy our experience more if we sat closer to the music. She took my friend's purse and my water and moved us to another table. From there, things continued to go downhill. Two of our four drinks came out incorrect, the avocado toast was completely inedible, and our pizza arrived cold. We repeatedly had to ask for napkins and plates, and we never received silverware. At that point, we asked to speak with a manager. She said she would make it right, but unfortunately, it felt like she simply wasn't equipped to do much to actually resolve the situation. She removed one drink and the avocado toast from our bill. While we appreciated the gesture, considering the overall experience, it didn't feel like enough to make things right. The manager did offer for us to come back and give Calistoga Depot another try, but unfortunately that isn't really an option for us. We were tourists visiting the area and don't live here, so we won't be back. We were celebrating a special 40th birthday and were really hoping for a fun, memorable dinner. Instead, the lack of service, incorrect drinks, cold food, missing utensils, and overall disorganization left us pretty bummed. We understand that restaurants can have an off night, but this felt like much more than just an off night. It was especially disappointing because this was supposed to be a special celebration.

Dear Management Team,…read more I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience I had at Calistoga Roastery on August 21, 2027, between approximately 1:00 and 1:15 p.m. I was visiting Calistoga with a friend to celebrate our birthdays and enjoy a spa treatment. Before our appointment, we decided to stop by your coffee shop for a quick bite and a coffee. Unfortunately, what should have been a simple and pleasant experience became very upsetting and left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. When we entered the establishment, a male employee greeted us. I responded politely, "Good, how are you?" while looking at the menu. He responded, "Shitty." My friend immediately acknowledged his comment by saying, "Sorry about that." I did not hear his response clearly and continued looking at the menu. He then said to my friend, "Thank you for acknowledging it, unlike your friend. She doesn't care what day I'm having." At first, I assumed he was joking. However, once I realized he was genuinely upset with me, I apologized and explained that I had not heard what he said. Rather than accepting my apology, he continued repeatedly telling me that I "didn't give a shit" and that I "didn't care" about how he was feeling. He continued making these comments in front of my friend and other customers. I repeatedly tried to apologize and clarify that I genuinely had not heard his response, but the situation continued to escalate. At that point, I felt extremely uncomfortable and confused about what was expected of me. I had simply responded politely to a greeting and was not intentionally ignoring or dismissing him. I understand that everyone can have a difficult day, and I have empathy for that. However, it is not appropriate to project personal frustration onto a customer or repeatedly criticize them after they have apologized and attempted to clarify a misunderstanding. There was also a woman present, who appeared to have blonde hair, who witnessed the interaction. She smiled at me and commented that "he always does this." Her reaction gave me the impression that this behavior may not have been an isolated incident. The employee later explained that breakfast was no longer being served because it was after 1:00 p.m. I accepted that information without issue. Despite this, when we were leaving, I thanked him and attempted to end the interaction respectfully. He made another insulting comment in front of my friend and other customers, stating that I did not know about my friend because "she has a bad attitude." I was especially disappointed by this experience because I also work in the customer service industry. I understand that employees can have difficult days and that misunderstandings can happen. However, I would never allow a customer to be treated this way, nor would I expect an employee, supervisor, or manager to repeatedly insult or confront a customer over such a minor interaction. What should have been a quick and pleasant stop during our birthday celebration instead became an experience in which I felt embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. I did not confront the employee or respond disrespectfully, despite how uncomfortable the interaction became. I continued to conduct myself with grace and professionalism because I believe that is how customers and employees should treat one another. I am respectfully asking management to take this incident seriously, investigate what occurred, and take appropriate action to ensure that other customers do not experience similar treatment in the future. I also hope that appropriate guidance or training can be provided to staff regarding professional communication and customer service. I appreciate your time in reviewing my complaint and hope to receive a response regarding how this matter will be addressed. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you have a wonderful day.

While enjoying the delicious Pork Belly bites, we placed an order for their non-beer options (neither one of us are beer lovers). As we were winding down, we ordered a round of ciders and the three meats-three sides platter for dinner. Nice space friendly staff, good fresh beer and inside and outside (covered) seating. Your order at the bar and they bring the food to you. My friend lamented that they no longer used Haddock but at those prices I can see why they had to change; the local fried cod was very good.

It was so beautiful and the person working that night was so knowledgeable about the menu. He made many recommendations and explained the menu in full. We ordered the canned tuna which I was on the fence about but so glad we ordered. The presentation was one of the best I have seen and the freshness was out of this world. I had the rockfish which came in a tho broth which was really good but wish maybe I tried something else. My husband had the black cod which was melt in your mouth delicious. Since we had been wine tasting all day we didn't get to have cocktails but I look forward to trying all the creative mixed drinks they were making. Well done spot.

The menu has many great options and my partner Ang I both enjoyed our meals. I had the steak and eggs he had the burger; both cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed some lovely libations from the cocktail menu while we waited for our table. The meal was capped off with the French toast which we shared and the perfect sweet ending. I Look forward to returning soon. Great food and wonderful service.
