Had breakfast here a few days ago. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, like a 50's style diner. Me and my s/o ordered poached eggs with sausage, bacon and toast. The coffee was good and they gave us a few flavors of creamers to go with it. Suggestion to the cook. If you're going to serve poached eggs, please serve them in a small individual bowl, instead of putting them directly on the plate. I have eaten at other establishments, like in Las Vegas and other places where poached eggs are served in a small bowl. Also, we noticed that the ceiling and the vents above us looked dirty. Maybe it's time for the owner to stop being nostalgic and upgrade/clean/modernize it. The waitress told me she only had smaller pieces at a reduced price and I said that was fine. I would've given them a higher rating, but when I brought my wife who has Celiac disease, they seemed to be completely indifferent to her Gluten-free requirements. I get it - they're sort of a truck stop. They probably don't expect people coming there with health requirements in their food. This is a very good steakhouse for the area. We moved to Chowchilla about 2 years ago and we have been looking for a good local restaurant ever since. We found a really good Mexican restaurant it is a hole in the wall but the best authentic Mexican food ever I will leave a review for it. This restaurant has a very good parietes in the menu they have a bar and they also have an area for large family events the staff is friendly a little slow but it's Chowchilla so I wouldn't recommend if you're in a hurry to get in-and-out but if you want a relaxing sit down dinner with some good comfort food this is the place. read more

We were just staying overnight in Chowchilla on our way north. We chose Farnesi's for dinner and were so glad. The menu is extensive, so much so that we ordered a tower of onion rings to eat while deciding. They offer red sauce with it that is as good as my Italian family makes. Our entrees included delicious fresh vegetables cooked exactly right. Our server was pleasant and helpful. Nice wine selection at very reasonable prices. We will definitely plan to stop again when heading north. Too full for dessert! A true hidden gem. read more

Went here when we first moved here and had the tri tip sandwich. It was really good and everyone at the table, 7 of us, came away happy. Also went after graduation this past year, 2018 and I think they were ready to close but took us anyway which we appreciated. The food was good and the ladies were very attentive and gracious. We stopped here on our way home cause we were hungry and didnt was fast food. This place was clean and organized, but very old decore! Our server was nice and friendly. She knew the menu well. NOT HERE! They were of the frozen type, with no garlic at all!!! Not good what so ever!!! We also ordered a dinner salad to share, and u could tell is was of a bagged variety. Nothing fresh about the salad at all. The dressing was out of a bottle. Nothing good or bad about the salad. There is a fancy steakhouse dining room also, but that wasnt open. I guess its open for dinner. They also have a full service bar/lounge in the back. I did check out the dinner menu and they have some high priced steaks for dinner. My husband and I stopped here yesterday on the way home to Sacramento. I travel for business and I've seen the sign from the highway. It was a little hard to find (get off at Robertson and go around the Chevron station). However, the food and service was AMAZING! We went into the diner side and wanted the steakhouse side and they transferred us, no complaint. Casey the friendly bartender made me a perfect martini and recommended a good and affordable wine. We both ordered the steak Diane with the hearty "Hobo" soup. The soup was really good. The steak Diane was one of the best I've ever had and I lived in New Orleans (where the Chef is from) for six years! I mean, the meat was cooked to perfection (rare in my case/medium rare for my husband) and the sauce was divine. The mashed potatoes were so good I was able to reheat them in the microwave the next day for leftovers. The portions are also good - all for $18.50 per person! This used to be a great places for a trucker to get a good meal on the road. Ordered a rib eye meal. They gave me a New York steak. Ordered it charred medium. It was charred on one side only and boiled texture on the other side. Also the steak was very well done. Ordered the surf and turf option for $8.99. It was 3 breaded medium size shrimp. No where near Jumbo. Meal was comparable to a Denny's steak dinner. Total was $50. When asked how the meal was. I respectfully gave them an honest answer. Last night my boyfriend and I ate here for the second time. The first time was good so we decided to go again after the place we originally wanted to go to was packed. This time we opted to stay in the side dining room instead of the main coffee shop. It made a big difference in atmosphere. The room was tastefully decorated and did not feel like you were in a coffee shop diner. My boyfriend had the Steakhouse Salad which was huge and had a good serving of steak on it. I had the Chicken Alfredo Lasagna which was very tasty, but for the price I would have liked a larger piece that was not lopsided with only half having chicken in it. Oh my gosh....so happy we stopped here. On our way back from Sacramento and went on Yelp to see if there was any decent place to eat in this tiny town we were stopping for gas in. The service was great, the quality of food was excellent. I got their lunch special, fried chicken with mash potatoes and grilled veggies. My husband had the grilled Mahi Mahi, rice and veggies. Both were really good. I haven't had fried chicken in years, but since I already blew the diet and then some on vacation I decided to go for it. Best fried chicken I have had since I was a kid....so darn good. Prices were super reasonable. Will have to go here next time we go up to Sacramento area for sure! read more
