I very rarely leave reviews and didn't…read morewant to be mean, but when I woke up this morning, saw my hair again, and cried because of how bad it looks, I feel like I have to. It is about two inches shorter than we discussed, the stylist even admitted it was cut too short. As for framing around my face, we picked a piece of hair and I said not to go shorter than that, it was cut much shorter. I asked for long layers, which I have had for years, but the stylist and I clearly had very different definitions of what that means. The layers are very short, some at my eye level. She finished and I literally cried and said I hate it. She tried to fix the layers by texturizing them and they look a little better. Emphasis on a little. My haircut still looks incredibly dated and nothing like the picture I showed her. It still made me cry every time I caught my reflection in a mirror when I got home. The only redemption is that it somehow all fits in a ponytail. I had long, thick hair so it took over two hours to wash, cut, and dry. Maybe it was too hard for her to work with. I saw she was cutting way more than I expected, but I didn't say anything because she was the professional and I was trusting her. In hindsight, I should have said something. I know it'll grow out, but I got my hair cut because we have a family wedding next weekend and unfortunately it won't grow out that fast. I absolutely hate it and don't know how it could be fixed at this point. What are they going to do, cut it more? I've already lost most of my once thick hair. Giving two stars instead of one because the stylist was a sweet girl and didn't charge me full price. But I will never be returning.

She was a little more rough with my daughter than I would like. Someone working with children should be more gentle. They were understaffed with 2 employees and only standing room in the waiting area. Maybe this added to her frustrations and impatience with us. After that, she ended up charging me $100 --and that was not even with a haircut. I would never return or take my daughter again. And I still tipped because I am too darn nice. My mom saw her hair and commented how dry it looked. When I leave other salons, it is silky straight. Not worth it at all. I will go to a salon where my daughter has a good experience and feels cared for and I get my money's worth. Feeling duped Update- Today I had the misfortune of talking to the owner, Tameka, of this wannabe salon. She actually did all the talking over me and lying--saying she could hear the conversation her stylist had with me regarding the extra charges. Never was I told that a flat iron for a child was $50! And if you are charging for length as you say, why didn't you itemize your receipt correctly? Also, why didn't you subtract for NOT cutting her hair? Worse still, Chelsea made my daughter cry because she was so rough. It's crazy to me that they set the bar so low and everyone is supposed to be ok with that?? And what ...pay them outrageous prices for unsatisfactory work?? And deal with a juvenile owner? No thanks. I have had better and my family deserves better.

We could tell that Chelsea had had a rough day just from the phone calls she got, and the customer before us, but she still smiled and had a good attitude during our appointment. We showed up with dry, clean hair, ready to go. My daughter had a picture of the style she was going for, and Chelsea matched it perfectly. Her hair was beautiful! Thank you very much, Chelsea! Well yeah, it is falling because the blow dry was beyond subpar, and you curled my hair with no product. I am a hairstylist who came into town and was looking to treat myself to my honest to God first blow dry because I usually do it myself. I didn't bring any of my tools with me because I thought I could trust the reviews of this place, but I could not. I ended up going to another salon to get it fixed and it was 1000x better and exactly what I asked for. I would not come back to this place at all.

For my high school reunion last month, I needed to make sure my hair looked amazing since the water at my parent's house is disgusting compared to NYC's. I asked my cousin if she knew any salons that do a great blowout and she said she had heard of J L'Art Organic Salon from her friends! Booking on their platform did not work for me so I called to book my appointment instead. I did a 10am on a Saturday, thinking ok I'll be done within an hour... *TWO. HOURS. LATER.* (haha) Honestly probably one of the longest blowouts I've ever had but it was definitely worth it and I wasn't in a rush. The chairs they have you lie down on for your wash are sooooo comfortable. My stylist Chasity gave me THREE deep shampoos and the last one I think I fell asleep as she massaged my scalp for the longest time. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a total sucker for a hair and scalp massage. For my conditioner she massaged my scalp AGAIN and then wrapped my head in a hot towel so it was a steam mask for 5-10 minutes. Like wow. The blowout itself was done with such precision. Using the Dyson hair dryer, my hair was gathered into small sections and every flyaway was tamed. I have a lot of hair and it's pretty long so I really appreciate her commitment to the process. My hair afterwards was sooooo soft, shiny, and silky. Chasity did an amazing job! Also, they're very reasonably priced. My blowout was $50... my salon in NYC could NEVER.
