The alpha technician in the room is named Linda, and she spends a lot of time speaking in Korean very loudly and bossing around the other technicians. I whispered to mine (who was very sweet) is she the manager ? and she gave me a quick shake of the head. But nonetheless there Linda is putting her nose in everywhere . when I went to pay with my Visa card ( I usually pay with Visa and tip in cash) , Linda shouted over "that will be a dollar more unless you pay in cash" . I was like yeah nobody does that but even if they do that, it should be 3% which should be like 45 cents , and she said, very loudly, "you no like it you can go somewhere else". I know, right? So of course I paid it without argument. And like I said, the manicure was fine, but who wants to be around that?

The lady who did my nails was extremely rude and i wish I knew her name. Legitimately started screaming at me while I was doing my nails and I had to ask her why she was screaming. Clearly did not know how to do gel, I was yelping in pain the whole time. The process took forever, and she had to remove the polish and restart twice. The nails looked like shit the minute I walked out and broke later. She also kept curing gel on my skin and would tell me I was wrong and be rude for complaining. 0/10 would recommend save your money and your time.

Now, she's her own boss (applause) within the bigger Sola umbrella who give opportunities to independent technicians in the beauty world where she has her own pricing, schedule and space. Going to just any nail salon isn't in my book (though I visit another one if my girl Ana is busy and need a mani+pedi ASAP). I've been Ana's follower going on 5 years since Ardsley because she comes with experience. Plus there's something about neatly uniformed cuticles and immaculately glossy top coats that I simply can't replicated at home. And my girl Ana does just that. I keep my nails short and choose minimalist+soft colors like Essie's 'Mademoiselle' or 'Ballerina Slippers' or 'Sugar Daddy'. She does a deliciously luxe job on pedis by the way. You can bring your tools or use hers (she has a sanitizing station). All the studios at Sola are enough for one person at a time. So the need to call and schedule with Ana is a must. Her studio feels cozy, attention to detail is all here and if you wanna chat for shits and giggles, you can do that too. Ana has carved a wonderful niche for her. We've had gel pedicures done here, regular pedicures, gel manicures and regular manicures, all have lasted.
