Will absolutely never come back to this salon. I decided to give them my first, genuine try since middle school/high school during an unanticipated break from college ("Hurricane Florence"). It is difficult for me to recount the story without getting upset, but long story short, the nails came out to $100 for a gel, French mani/pedi (a lot of money, especially for a college student like me, but understandable price). I tipped the woman, Nancy, who did my nails an amount that I felt comfortable with tipping, and she told me that people usually tip a certain percentage of the bill. As uncomfortable as this was for me as I consider myself to be a good tipper, I decided okay, let me give her a few more dollars. I ask for change, she gives me change, and I give her more. She continues to show total dissatisfaction with my tip. This is when another customer, mother aged, who was drying her nails and also seemed annoyed with the salon, chimes in, saying to the worker, "You cannot do this. I have seen you do this to people before, and you are going to end up losing money." I genuinely appreciated her input because this entire situation was completely unreal to me, I honestly felt attacked. When have I ever tipped someone (which is OPTIONAL) and had them badger me for more money?! It was a far worse experience than being on the streets of NYC haggling over the cost of a fake designer bag! UNBELIEVABLE. I told her that tips are optional, and that I have been a waitress before and how certain people can decide to not tip at all. She told me this is "not nice;" however, how nice is it to make someone feel SO uncomfortable meanwhile they tipped you PERIOD? Truly an experience that left me with my blood boiling, not to mention she followed me out of the salon screaming like a bratty child who didn't get the toy she wanted. And just so you know, my gel nails have already begun to peel off just a week later... Gel usually lasts 2 weeks at the very least. Never again. read more
