New ownership, I no longer recommend this place. The prices have increased and the manicurists have changed. Ugh I miss the previous owners. Price increased 2nd time in 3 months.. The New and much improved New Art Nail has not only purchased new chairs, manicure tables and pedicure chairs they are more sanitary than under previous management. The plastic covers on the pedicure tubs is not just to make it easier to clean like one reviewer commented, it is to protect the customer from germs and chemical residue. Other nice touches: WiFi is posted so customers can easily sign on. Baskets next to each chair so my handbag does not need to go on the floor. The music is more current and is not the same loop being played over and over. The biggest change is the personnel. I used to have one or two people who I liked so I would always have to make appointments if I wanted someone good. Honestly, all the staff are extremely professional and do a great job. I am always happily surprised by the level of service I receive from the staff. Today was no exception! I showed up at 4 pm on New Year's Eve Day. The level of service I received on such a busy day was nothing less than outstanding. I was expecting to be rushed and instead I was treated to a super relaxing gel manicure. I'm glad I found this nail salon. I was a loyal customer of another nail salon but things out absurd and out of hand at the other salon, I had to wait 20 to 25 minutes even with an appointment--I'm patient and willing to wait 5 minutes, max 10. Anyways, I ventured out and found New Art Nail and so glad I did and I will continue to go there. The manicurist who helped me is gentle, thorough and she did an awesome job with my nail color. She also did an excellent job with my cuticles and you get a nice little massage at the end. Relaxing and ambience. Just overall great service at a great price--can't beat that. read more

I went to New Art Nail today with two of my friends, one of them recommended it because she lives in Portchester. I was really happy and excited to get my nails done, and when I walked in the women were so kind and sweet! I had a gel powder manicure done, while my friends got their pedicure done. When she began to take off my gel pedicure, I was fascinated by the tool she was using, we were communicating and talking, it was great! But when she started really cutting into my nail and cuticles I started to tense up. She kept telling me to talk to my friends so I would get distracted and loosen up more. But I kept looking back at my fingers because she was actually hurting me. I pointed out to her a couple of times that I was bleeding. She ignored me again and again and I felt helpless. I didn't know what to do in this situation because my friends were right there and I didn't want to embarrass my friend who recommended this place, so to be absolutely honest, I sat there and suffered through this manicure. I did not want to embarrass the women or my friend. I kept looking at my nails and it was obvious that I was not happy, but she kept ignoring the fact that she was really cutting into my skin. At a point, I felt like she was intentionally grinding in to my cuticle to make me stay still. This was a lot for me. I didn't know what to do. I paid my $40 and I said thank you and left. On my way home, the pain got so bad, my fingers began to sting so much and I bled alot. I felt it was only right to call and tell them how I felt. When I finally got the lady who did my nails on the phone, I kindly said how I didn't know how to approach this situation to her to begin with because I've never written a bad review or told anyone their work wasn't good. So I told her that I was in pain from today's appointment and that I was bleeding a lot and I really don't know what to do now. And I thought she would reply kindly and tell me that she was sorry. Instead she started screaming at me through the phone, telling me that I was wrong and everything I said was incorrect, and she continued to yell, finally I had to stop her and remind her that I was the customer and that I was not satisfied by her service today and that I was just really upset. She only sympathized with me when I began to cry. I didn't know how else to get my point across. I told her that I've never asked for a refund, but in this case, six of my fingers are bleeding and I'm going to have to get through this pain for the next week while this heals. And she said she didn't see any blood and that she doesn't give any refunds. Honestly I'm so scarred by this experience, I was really looking forward to a good time, she was sweet in person, but then on the phone, she was not understanding and it really made me so sad. My hands are still in pain and I was really disappointed by the service. Later my friend told me that this lady was also the owner and manager of the store, which made me even more upset, I thought talking to a manager would have helped the situation, but I was talking to the manager the entire time and didn't get any positive outcome from this. I went there to have my acrylic nails removed and the owner told me that they don't soak off acrylic because it takes too long and I'll be there all night into the morning. Then she proceeded to rip the acrylic off my nails using a cuticle cutter and a metro north card she asked one of her employees to give to her. This was the first time I had ever had this salon do my hands and will for sure be the last. After enduring 10 minutes of pain I finally told her I was just going to leave and she replied with yes you can leave. I ended up leaving and going to another salon and they were horrified at what they had done to my nails. I only allowed them to do 2 of my nails and I didn't even let her finish the pointer finger because I was in so much pain. As you can see she almost ripped off my whole nail on my pointer finger and you can see the peeling of my natural nail on the thumb. Acrylic should ALWAYS be soaked off! I walked in midday on a Saturday for a pedicure and they took me right away. I liked that I had pedi options, and I was pleased with the outcome. He asked if I wanted a mani, too, so I figured I'd go for it since it was affordable and I liked the place enough. He did file my nails a little crookedly. I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB . I would like to share something that happen to me . The manager demanded a minimum Tip of 20% . I went in to get a manicure and pedicure , one person did my pedicure and another did my manicure so I had to split the tip . When it was time to pay , I paid on my credit card they don't accept tip to be added on the credit card so I requested them to change a $20.00 bill for me . I asked for a $10.00 & two $5.00 . The girl came back and gave me two $10.00 . I requested for two fives again , she called her manager over and that when she said "honey the minimum is 20% TIP " I was so upset and furious at this point because $10.00 is 20% of $50.00 of my total. I don't think it is legal to demand a minimum amount of tip , tip is optional ? & if it is legal they should display it in a sign in their business . read more

This salon is the best I have been to since I started getting my nails done. (22 years) Today i visited this salon for the very first time, and was blown away! Paul (the owner) and his wife run the salon. When I visited I was the only one there and was treated as a princess. I have been trained to do UV Gel nails and normally do them myself, but I am starting a new job tomorrow and wanted to get them done and be pampered. I chose the right salon. While speaking with Paul, he complimented me on my work (other salons tend to make a face when you tell them you do your own nails) and even gave me a few pointers. There is no dust in the salon, because they use this thing that sucks it up while they are filing them, and they DO NOT over file. I was in the chair at 11am and out at 12:05, and I had my white tips filled. (other salons in the area usually take 2-3 hours for this process) The salon is CLEAN, decorated nice, the staff is friendly, they speak English rather well, there is no taking between techs (other salons are constantly doing this, and you know they are talking about you ... lol). I paid $45 for a UV Gel White Fill. A good price for the area. Mani/Pedi combo is $27, a regular pedi is $19. I would DEFINITELY recommend this salon, you will not be disappointed! read more

Experience started when I called for the appointment and asked for the technician I had previously worked with.The woman on the phone thought it was my name and didn't understand the name of her own employee. After clarifying it seems she wasn't available so I rolled the dice and took whoever was. When I arrived no one greeted me or acknowledged my entrance, I had to call for someone's attention. The person who ended up working on me was the owner or manager (not sure which), who had to keep stopping to answer the phone. She rushed, was impatient, argued with anything I said or asked for, literally was hurting me with pinching, pulling and twisting my fingers and wrists. The dremel and files raked across my skin. No matter how many times I flinched, "ouched", or tried to shift position she did not stop or alter what she was doing. She did not clean under my nails or touch my cuticles at all. I was getting fills on a UV gel manicure and they had very limited color options, and when she applied the first nail of my chosen color it was off from the sample by at least 3 shades. whether she pulled the wrong color or the samples or that old I don't know. I chose a different color which I really didn't want, at this point desperate to leave. It wasn't until I left and got into the sunlight that I saw the extent of the poor shaping of the nails and that the edges were not fully polished. Go anywhere else but here... read more

Long review, but in summary: prices were raised, staff is bland and at some times rude, they will blatantly cause pain, and it doesn't have the original vibe that the old salon under Jackie and Joy or Paul and Laura had. The new owner, Song, is very rough. I've went there numerous times and gotten various things from her including gel fill-ins and pedicures, and every time I've had her I've felt like my fingers were all being broken. The whole process doesn't take long (and especially if you zone out, which I've been forced to do when I go there to forget about the pain), but with the pain of her moving my fingers in ways they're not supposed to move makes it feel like an eternity. The people she brought with her are awkward at best and don't try to be friendly or gentle or make conversation. One time in particular stands out the most. Now, I'm going to cosmetology school to become a licensed nail tech, so I know the right and wrong ways to do nails...this place most definitely did it wrong. I went to get my gel extensions off because I missed painting my own nails and wanted my nails (which were long underneath) to get some time in the spotlight and not be under so many layers of gel. When gel extensions are to be taken off, they are supposed to be drilled off, and about 20% of the product is supposed to be left on the nail in order to keep the nail strong as it grows (and clipping will remove the product over time as the nails grow out); they decided to forgo that procedure and ended up taking a MetroCard and wedging it between the fake nail and the real nail and popping them off one by one -- some of them, of course, didn't hurt as much because they were loose and ready to come off, but some of them which were still rooted to the nails hurt EXTREMELY badly and I was left with stinging, red, and agitated nails. When I told them that this was not the way it was supposed to be done, and despite my whimpers of pain, they kept going and kept on hurting my nails. Now they are so weak that I have to constantly cover them with fake nails because they are paper thin due to so many layers being pulled off at once. I recommended this salon to a friend who went to get gel extensions (and had been up until December 2017) when she had an absolutely horrific experience where the girl who was doing them kept drilling her fingers instead of her nails and caused her to bleed at her cuticles. She was going to simply leave w/o giving a tip until the lady who was doing her nails stopped her and demanded that she tipped her. Most of the original staff has left along with Jackie and Joy. The place was also redecorated after Jackie and Joy left and it feels like I'm in solitary confinement -- every single thing is white and looks drab and bland...the old salon looked comforting and welcoming with it's bamboo floors and paintings hung on the wall, but it now just looks like a laboratory. They also moved the drying stations to in front of the window, meaning there is no space for you to sit if you have to wait for your appointment (I should also mention that I have frequently come in with appointments, and have been either denied service, or have had to wait for 30 minutes as they took a walk-in before me...usually those with appointments come first). When Jackie and Joy, and even Paul and Laura, were there, they knew you by name and talked to you and asked you questions--these new owners are clearly only here for the money and don't care about you or your opinions. And, I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I go to nail salons, I expect to be relaxed and content by the time I come out -- when I leave now, I feel anxious and jumpy. I may come back for pedicures with Amy or Jane, but Amy may be leaving soon due to how unhappy she is. Old workers are given two or three days off and are double-booked, making it hard to get appointments with any of the old people who were there when Jackie and Joy owned the establishment. read more

I asked the owner when will I be seen since I have set up an appointment and she says soon. Last time this happen the owner was able to do my nails but refused to do them so she can eat her dinner. Terrible! My sister and I got our nails done for a wedding. Both mani and pedis were not done well. My cuticles werent cut and her nails couldve been painted better by a blind 5 year old (paint all over her cuticles). One of my nails needs an extension bc the nail bed is scarred and won't grow. They used an acrylic nail thats way too curved to look anything like my other nails. In fact, its pinching my skin. I am mad I just spent $27 on a mani pedi and $5 on a horrible extension. I've been patronizing this establishment for two years now and am still in love with it! Lora and Paul the owners are wonderful people; so nice and friendly. Every service here is exceuted perfectly from their gel manicures, gel tips, pedicures, chair massages and waxing services. The staff is professional, warm and friendly. Coming in feels as if you are among friends; which makes it a pleasure. They have a large selection of nail polish and gel polish available in a rainbow of color and finishes. They carry OPI and Essie polishes in the latest colors for the season. Appointments are good to have but they do take walk-ins. I would definitely suggest making an appointment if you want gel tips as only two people in the salon perform this service. Even if I didn't live in the area; I would still travel here to get my nails done. read more

The worst place to get a mani and pedi. Owner is so unprofessional. Even with a appointment, one waits. Never had my gel manicure done in 4mins and the place wasn't even busy to say. The manicure was awful plus she took control as far as what color I should do my nails. Awful customer service! Plus if you want to be constantly pulled by your fingers, cut while them doing your cuticles and finally have both hands shoved in the uv machine where you feel your nails are burning then this is the place. I was disgusted of how they treat customers and left with a burnt on the tips of my fingers. Found out later that many complaints from friends and family. How sad places like this exist!!! I've been a regular for many years when Paul and Lora were the owners. Recently I had lost my job and starting doing my nails myself, with the occasional treat every once in a while. I went in right when Paul went on 'vaca' and was told he'd be back in three months, I was sad but excited, because I really liked the way Paul and Lora did my nail, not to mention it was always a good time when you went in. Paul was always so happy to see everyone and he always knew when you needed a little something extra. Lora was equally as awesome, I loved when she brought Fluffy in and he'd sit like King he was beside his momma (fluffy was their Maltese). So, my first impression of the salon was it was still Pauls, (as I'd been told he was coming back and his 'friends' we're just helping while he was away). The service provided was good, one of Pauls close 'friends' did my nails and I was happy, but not as much as when Paul does them, but I assured them I'd return when I could. Secretly I was waiting the three months until Paul came back. Well I was in for a treat ... NOT!! I went in yesterday, with a friend, for pedicures and I got a polish change. I called and made appointments, and asked if Paul was back, the woman responded no, I was sooo bummed, but went anyway ... Well, we got there, was taken right a way. Now they use these disposable sink things and I guess it makes for an easy clean up, but it's weird. My polish comes off and I'm already noticing I'm not going to like this pedi as the woman is pushing my cuticles down, while taking my polish off with her nail and cotton ball and she's being ruff. I pull my foot back a couple of times and wince in pain to get the message across, but it falls on deaf ears. That was done and now the part they urge you to get callous treatment "you need very bad, you callous are bad". Did I mention I regularly do my own nail? Yes, fingers and toes. Would you think my callous are bad knowing this? Lol ... OMG!! Can we say ruff much?? They use this metal callous remover. OUCH! That thing hurt, it did the job, and got any any all my callous off, but DAMN!! So they used this two times, once to I guess to ruff it up a bit to soften (I'm guessing) and the second time they go balls to the wall with it, all over your feet. Like I said it does the job, any and all dead, dry skin was removed from my feet. They then file, I guess to smooth out what they gnarled up. She was so ruff filing that she made me bleed. When I told her, she giggled. Wait, your giggling that you made me bleed? OMG! I still am sitting here enduring this ... She cuts the cuticles (I'm surprised I did get cut here) then files and soaked, now for the massage (btw, I got the lavender spa pedicure $38) she oils up my legs and starts ... It feels good for a second then quick ruff strokes, her nails scratching and digging into my skin and I'm done. No feet massage just legs. Keep that in mind. She wipes then Prays Sea Breeze (Paul NEVER HAD THIS IN THIS SALON) and starts polishing ... No lotion .. AT ALL! The sides of my toes are extremely ruff, she didn't 'buff' them properly or anything. She was extremely ruff the entire massage as well. My fiend had a nice experience, but had some issues. So now she's painting my toes and instead of going to get a new bottle of polish I chose she decided to use the thick goopy stuff and well, it took a while to dry that she waited to put my top coat on until my fingers were done. I'm not going to go into having two UV gel broken nails fixed and painted with goopy nail polish now with thinner in it, I think you got the hint that this place ISN'T what it used to be and I won't be going back. I was also told Paul is not coming back and that just sucks!! I went in for a pedicure and a gel powder manicure. As I was getting the gel done, I asked if I could get a 10 minute massage. I then got my pedicure and I had picked out my color and when I sat on the chair she shows me a different color and tells me the color I picked is different. I told her I wanted a similar color as my hands. She picks a different color and applies it. I made a face and told her I really didn't like it. As she was done, I told her I didn't like it at all. So she gets mad and tells me to pick out my own color (in a rude tone). I apologized so many times because she had to do it all over again. She said I should have told her before when she asked if I liked it. I get up and find almost the exact color. She applies it and then does the massage. I end up spending more than usual and as I give her a $5 (because a tip is optional) she tells me I should give her 20%, that if I go to a restaurant I have to leave 20%. I told her I didn't have to do that because a tip is optional and we aren't at a restaurant. I gave her $10 since that's all the cash I had. I did not want to cause a scene so discretely I ask the owner if I could ask her a question. I ask her if a tip is optional she says yes 20%, I don't think she understood me. So I ask if it's okay that her worker asked me for more money and she says yes. I have been coming here since I moved to Port Chester, almost 3 years ago. Last time I will be here! I always get a gel powder manicure which is more than the regular gel manicure and a pedicure, every 2 weeks!!!! What sucks the most is the girl that usually does it was with another customer and she's amazing with her job!! Only gave 1 star because of the girl that usually does my nails! I received a gift certificate to this nail salon for my birthday and tried going in once without an appointment, but they weren't able to fit me in that day. I scheduled another one to get a pedicure and new set of UV gel tips. The woman who did my pedicure, I think her name was Jenny, was awesome. She gave me a wonderful pedicure and was very focused & detail oriented. My UV set though was an odd experience. Two separate technicians worked on both my hands, so my nails ended up completely uneven. They didn't even use UV nail polish, which was a real shock to me. Never in my life have I gone to a salon that applies regular nail polish on UV tips... So it wasn't a real surprise to me when I got home and my nails were already smudged and ruined. I ended up taking the polish off and redoing them myself, less than 15 mins after getting them done "professionally." And almost one week later, they started breaking apart and I ended up just taking them all off. Such a shame. At least my pedicure is still going strong two weeks later. read more

This is an excellent nail salon! I used to be a nail technician myself so I am very picky. I've been going to them for 2 years. I moved recently and still go back there because it is worth the trip. Paul and Lora are such nice people and they do excellent work. Amy does fantastic waxing and pedicures. The rest of the staff is also very friendly and hard working. They are open on Sundays and have good hours, which is great since I have a very busy schedule. If I want add a service at the last minute or call to change an appointment they always accommodate me. It is also very relaxing there - they play classical music and it is quiet. I've never had a problem with the parking - the furthest I've parked was 1/2 a block away. No metered parking so you don't have to worry about getting a ticket for an expired meter. The prices are fair and very reasonable. I definitely recommend them. read more
