Update: 1 week later I'm going to have to get these nails taken off. They look awful!! Look at the past picture I attached Pros: Sandy & Benson are so nice! The nail salon is clean, and they have a great selection of polish colors to choose from. Cons: my nails were old and I really needed a new set. I had been working so much prior to vacation I just hadn't had the time. My nails were a little yellow & when I asked for pink & white fill in, I got a natural color instead of the pink. This caused you to be able to see the yellowing color from my previous set underneath. I attached a photo. I was caught completely off guard by the prices. I got a pink & white fill in, which typically, anywhere else is $35. And I got gel polish on my toes, NO pedicure and my total was $80, before I tipped. I'm afraid I was charged for a pedicure too, I'm not sure? That just seems outrageous. My cousin got acrylic nails put on with gel polish and hers was $60. My nails look ok. Not pleased about seeing the previous set underneath, but my toes look good. They did a nice job, just a little upset about the prices & seeing the yellow underneath my nails. Took my two daughters in for a fun pedicure like we do when we are on vacation. I received a soak in the foot spa, a toe nail cut and zero cleaning. Leg massage was a 2 minute wipe down with moisturizer: Polish all around my nail bed she needed to wipe off. $35. My daughters 6 and 8 years old had a soak and nail polish applied - $25 EACH. Usually $12. Absolutely ripped off. She got the tourists - Will be telling all our friends in CB and Wilmington. Karma will get you. Worst experience ever in a nail salon. I was hesitant to get my nails done because I like a very natural look and very rarely do people understand how "natural" I want them. Sandy did them exactly how I wanted and didn't use any harmful chemicals on them. She added length without actually adding tips & buffed them to where they looked like longer, natural healthy nails. Prices were not posted, and based on the condition of our hands and feet I was shocked at the $255 price tag for 3 people. The pedicure was horrible. First the positive : owners couidnt be any nicer. If I based my visit on their kindness and in treating me like a VIP then it would be 5 stars all the way. But... the negative: low quality. The PEDI- Maybe I'm spoiled but I'm used to a good gritty invigorating exfoliating calf scrub, a really good powerful massage chair that nearly hurts, and foot cream that keeps my feet from drying out for hours after leaving. What I got was the opposite of that, including polish that began to come off the very next day. The chair I can understand because this is not a big fancy nail salon and I'm sure those newer chairs are super expensive. But there is no excuse for the low quality (or very old) polish and lotion. The MANI - again, the polish came off next day... and it was so far away from my cuticles that it looked a week old the next day. I didn't notice this at first because it was a buff color and I didn't have my glasses on. But next morning I noticed how far the polish was from the cuticle. Then by the end of that day, it was already coming off the tips, and all had done that day was wash my hair. Again, the folks that own this place are beyond friendly and welcoming but I can't honestly give them 5 stars when I had to get my nails done out of town just 2 days later and dish out another 35 bucks. My advice to anyone visiting is to make sure the polish you choose is new and a not a no name brand.. Also check to see that your nails are fully painted. If you can get that, and most likely you can, then your experience should be a 4 or more. No I did not go back or try to have them remedy it. Sometimes the truth just needs to be out out there. It helps paying customers and provides valuable feedback for the owners. I don't intend for this review to hurt a small business, but hopefully to help. read more

I was on vacation and had a nail emergency. I googled nail salons. The salon was empty! She applied the acrylic with a very heavy hand. Gel polish was slapped on and ran over into the cuticle. Normally, the prices for what I had done are 35-40 dollars. She charged me 50$! It's my fault because I should have asked before... but still...I felt like she took advantage. She charged my friend 60$ for a gel pedicure!! No wonder the salon was empty ! Don't go here! read more

I feel bad writing this review because they were so nice while my mother and I were getting our nails done. However, I feel like I should warn others about the quality of service here. My mother and I both got manicure and pedicure here because my regular nail salon on the island closed early that day and we needed them done before a wedding. What a waste of $120! Both of our nails were chipping off within 24hrs! Totally unacceptable! I always were Gel nails and they NEVER chip! They don't come off till I go back to have them removed 2 weeks later! We went back to show them and she offered to fix them. We couldn't stay for this because my mother was only here visiting and needed to leave town. Not to mention, I had already sat for 2.5hours (yes, 2.5!!!!!!!) for a bad service.... Why would I do it again? I noticed before I left that not only was the polish splotchy but my nails were REALLY uneven. But I had already been there too long and needed to get home to my family. I was fine with the disappointing results until they started coming off the next day! We wanted our money back for the manicures. The fact that not one but both had chipped off within 24 hrs is ridiculous and deserved a refund but they would only refund $15 each. Update: It has now been exactly 1 week since my manicure and the polish on my thumb nail just came off! Completely!!! All in one piece! read more

I came for a girls day. I was the very last one to get my nails done, which didn't bother me. I was put after someone that came in after me. We had appointments, so it was not like it was unknown that we were coming. My nails are uneven, sharp edges, crappy paint job, all of the above and more. They were done poorly and I am not at all happy with them. The salon was very unorganized and had a very strong smell. I got my acrylics filled and they used a "sander tip" that looked like it had already been used and then after I was done they put it back into the same box. My boyfriend and I went for post beach pedicures. We were both happy with the product and the pleasant owners. The only odd part of the experience was that the woman who did my boyfriends feet, wore a skirt, which she pulled up in order to sit on a stool and spread her legs. When looking at his feet we both had a clear view of her underpants for the full length of the pedicure. I think this was a bit inappropriate and noticed she did the same when she moved to another female client. We both left a little uncomfortable with the situation. If you want a quality job done DO NOT go here. I usually only write good reviews but this place has to be held accountable for their bad service I have had gel nails done for years and needed a fill. It was the worse job I have ever had. They cut my nails down so short and they were all different lengths. When I commented on this they were "Oh we will fix them later" Which they never did. When they were applying the gel it was like they had never done it before even though they said they do it all the time. They only applied one coat of gel then filed it down to nothing. Even when they put on the gel polish they did not apply it evenly. They also never did my cuticles and they never filed under my nails to clean them up. After all this they charged me $50.00 After 5 days , two of my nails came off. So I went in to see if they would fix them. No customers were in the salon and I was told I would have to come back the next day because they had to eat. So I made an appointment and went back the next day and was told it was my fault my nails had come off. I heard so many excuses but not once did they admit they might have done a bad job. They did fix my nails but guess what? Because it was "my fault" two of my nails came off they charged me $5.00 a nail. Not very good customer service in my book. There are other places in town to get nails done so please go any where but here. read more

It is a family owned business and the owners are truly warm and friendly people. Even though they got very busy, they did not skimp on their services or time and delivered a lovely end result. I hate to bring such negative feedback considering that the wife and husband that assisted me and my friend were very kind but I feel a need to share my experience with others. Me and my friend made the trip down to the island to get our nails done. We both planned on getting brand new sets of acrylic nails as we both typically do, from a salon we have been to and love, right down the street (Lisa's nails) yet unfortunately I forgot about the information my regular lady told me about the closure of the store for 2 weeks while they are on vacation. So we googled near by places and found fashion nails. We arrived around 6:00pm and they close at 7:30 so we figured we were in just enough time. Considering I regularly have my acrylics done, I assumed it would be enough time. So we walked up to the door and it was locked even though their open signs were on. And just as me and my friend were getting back into my car some lady comes from the back and unlocks the door and gestures us inside. As soon as I entered the building I was hit with the most awful smell which right off the bat scared me. We sat down picked out our colors and went over what we wanted to get. There was only the one women working at the time so she was going back and forth between us both trying to get us out of there as quick as possible. The way she applied and filed our nails was very aggressive and I was left with sore nail beds for the next two days. After a long wait her husband finally came in and after taking his precious time in the bathroom came to work on my nails. He finished shaping my nails and took his precious time about it. 1.5 hours later neither of our nails are even done being shaped. After about another 30-45 minutes of them shaping our nails they finally got around to painting them. I received gel polish as I always do while my friend opted for regular. The lady painted both of our nails and did an awful job of it. This was probably the most upsetting and annoying part. Not only were my nails uneven and misshapen when she painted she did 3 coats which bled onto my cuticles and fingers. Same with my friend. At around 8:50 our nails were finally finished and we were asked to double check our nails and tell them to fix whatever need to be. But considering it was late and we were both exhausted and over it we decided to leave with our awful nails. The prices were INSANELY HIGH for an average set of acrylics. On top of the nails being horrible. I went home filed and cleaned up my nails in hopes of fixing my expensive and poorly done nails. Which upset me but I managed. Two days later I broke one of my nails. Now tonight 4 days post set I have broke 4 of my 10 nails and I plan to get the rest removed. $65 and 3 hours lost to this place and never again will I spend my time or money here. It was a horrible decision and I truly wish we would've waited to attend our regular salon. read more

I made an appointment in advance for 2 pedicures at the same time to enjoy with my 86 year old mother-in-law. I also asked for additional time for an eyebrow wax for my mother-in-law. We arrived and our pedicures were rushed and in fact, we were not each given our own tech, rather the husband and wife team jumped around between the both of us and another customer. No massage, no hot towels and a complete rush job. Why? A large group was coming in after us and the tech/owner needed to move us from the chairs. Further, when I asked for my mother-in-laws eyebrow wax (she was so looking forward to it as she had been relegated to her home for many, many months dues to illness) I was told that she did not recall hearing me make that request and now it was too late. I said we would wait (excuses: the wax needed to be heated, there were no available chairs) and the owner said she would not do it. Oh, my!! What horrible customer service. And guess what? The rush pedicure cost $30, more than the typical $25. I was very embarrassed that I brought my mother-in-law to this business. Do yourself a favor and visit another island salon. This place does not treat customers well at all. read more
