When paying, I was asked to rewrite my check to make it out directly to the owner and not the business itself. I made a light, offhand comment about it being a little unusual, but I was clear that it wasn't a problem--I immediately paid in full and left a generous tip. Later that day, the owner called me and spoke to me in a very aggressive and hostile manner, questioning whether I had an issue with how he runs his business. The tone of the call felt confrontational and unprofessional, and it left me feeling uneasy and very shaken.
