I had a flat tire (ran over a screw) and first went to a different chain location down the road. They told me they could not fix my tire or get me a new one that matched. I remember passing Hometown Tire on my drive so I decided to stop in and see if they could help me. They replaced my tire, rotated my tires, and filled the other 3 to the right pressure all for a GREAT deal! It was done in 45 minutes, too! The owners are extremely nice and accommodating - they even drove me to a friends down the road so I didn't have to wait at the shop. I will definitely be returning for oil changes and other needs in the future. So glad I stopped in! read more

I have been a client of hometown for 8 years and my folks even longer. They've always treated us so well, fair prices, short repair times, honesty and integrity; however, they just lost a decade of loyalty to one incredibly unprofessional phone call. On September 20th 2024, I brought my 2007 Honda Fit to Steve to take a look at some service lights and a funny noise. He fully diagnosed it on the spot, told me I needed to bring it back for a new transmission and new brakes and that he'd call some parts companies and get back to me with an estimate. He never contacted me again. A few nights ago, 12/2/24 my engine started billowing smoke late in the evening and I emergently had my car towed to hometown after hours, thinking that as a loyal customer they may be able to get me in. Instead, I got a phone call from Steve telling me that they have never and will never work on Honda Fits, my car is blocking the plows (there is no snow) and that I need to bring it elsewhere. I asked for a recommendation, and he told me that no one will work on a Honda fit and he won't send me to one of his friends. I brought up the diagnostics he did, and he told me that when he did it "6 months or a year ago" (actual timeline = 10 weeks) that he did indeed call me back with prices, "or maybe left a message". So in one conversation he both admitted that he did work on my car and looked into parts but that he also has never worked on my car and won't in the future. I think I asked one more question and he told me my keys were in the cup holder and hung up on me. Great business, Steve! read more

Made an appointment to have snow tires put on my car. Made the appointment 1-1/2 weeks ahead of time. Specifically said I need the car done at 2:30 pm and was told no problem. Dropped the car off the day of the appointment at 7:30 am, and was again told "no problem" on having the car done at 2:30. Checked on the car at 1:45 and was told by the owner to "leave him alone" and that the car was not going to be ready. If you make a commitment, honor it. If not, I will not cross the street to piss in your ear if your brain is on fire. Fuck you, Steve. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Steve, the owner, is one of the rudest people alive. For no good reason whatsoever he literally got in the face and SCREAMED at a great dear friend of mine who drove into his garage looking for help (she was a previous customer of theirs). Steve went into a rage because she (according to him angrily) "had an inspection sticker from [another local auto place]" (his competition). For this reason only he whisked her out of his shop and told her "get out and never come back!" She has never been treated this meanly and rudely in her entire life and left in tears. She cried for hours. She later told her husband about her experience (who called to find out why Steve treated his wife so horribly). Steve replied hotly "I am a multi-millionaire and don't even need business from pieces of [expletive] like you." If this is the kind of person who runs this place, he will never have my business and I hope he goes out of business and loses his "millions of dollars." read more

I always feel like they are looking out for our best interest and certainly stand up to their mission statement; "At Home Town Tire & Auto Service, we strive to provide excellent customer service and to provide our customers with an outstanding product at a fair price". Steve, the owner, was very informative in discussing all aspects of the work his crew performed. When I asked questions about future repairs or items I might need for my car, Steve never tried to upsell any service or products, and was factual and honest with what my vehicle did or did not need. Used them a few times over a couple years without complaint. One day my car started running rough so I took it in to have it evaluated. Not only did they misdiagnose the problem but charged an exorbitant amount of money to fix a fictitious problem. I was taken advantage of and would advise you to steer clear. Steve the owner from Home Town Tire And Auto has to be the most rude and unprofessional person I have come across in a long time . I brought my car into his place for a oil change and to take off my winter tires and pit on my summer tires and balance them. It took only 20 min to complete witch I thought was a bit fast. As I was leaving I noticed my sensor light was on and blinking so I brought it back the next day and they gave me some excuse that every thing was fine and it would go out on its own. It did not so I just left my regular mechanic who is in colchester who I highly recommend and when they went to take and change my tires out they realized that my sensor was completely snapped off this happened when home tire changed my tires . So when I called and talked with Steve about what had happened he started yelling at me and telling me I did not know what I was talking about in the mean time I had the conversation on speaker phone with my mechanic so we both tried to talk with him and he rudely wound not let either one of us talk and then he hung up on me . Now I don't know about anyone else but I have been in costumer service my whole life and never would I treat a costumer this way. I was not looking for anything for free I know mistakes happen we are all human. So do not use this service he is a awful person has no idea how to talk with people. I'm from out of town but in the area for business for a while. I came across Hometown Tire and Auto one day when i needed a flat tire repaired. The company owner shook my hand and said its on us! "We value are customers and we want you to come back". A month later (Being now) i needed new tires, brakes, oil change etc..the works!. They dropped me off were i needed to be and picked me up until my car was ready. My car was ready within the same day. The owner bundled up everything into a low and fair price and i couldn't be happier. I highly recommend going to have service done here.
